Just did the 2nd gear fix DIY! Thanks AK47 shifts like a beast now, completely different! Fyi to anyone, I dont really care much to power shift but it does make a difference, especially with the throttle by wire in the Si.
Wow your a fucking idiot and this is why people make fun of these cars. How sad, its a civic you jackass. You look like a fucking retard and you make the car sound like shit. Dont see how you can be this stupid FYI you gain absolutely nothing from shifting like that lol That style of shifting is for shifting turbo cars so the dont lose boost and here you are using it (TRYING) to be faster. Save yourself the money learn how to drive and use that money you save to make it faster the right way.
HEY BRO. DID YOU HAVE TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS TO THE CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION SWITCH, OR THE CLUTCH INTERLOCK SWITCH? I JUST HAD A NEW CLUTCH INSTALLED AND LIGHTENED FLYWHEEL. NOW IM HAVING TO PUSH THE CLUTCH PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FIREWALL. WOULD THIS ADJUSTMENT FIX THAT PROBLEM?
@hunterdmetz111 i know. it pisses me off makes me look like a rookie and shit. im like i can probally drive stick better then you if my car would let me. lol
Do you know how to fix on a stock ek tranny? the d16. Everytime I shift to 2nd it feels weird and im not sure if it's fully in to 2nd and usually grinds when racing.
This fix is specifically for the 8th gen Si transmissions. You probably have worn syncronizers, a very common problem in manual transmissions. The difference with the 8th gen Si transmissions is they grind prematurely; well before they actually become worn out. Try adjusting you master cylinder linkage if the clutch seems to engage very close to the floor.
Nice shifting, i want to shift fast but i cant because i have the same problem with the 2 gear.... I have a cuestion, I need to buy only the Omni Clutch Master Cylinderc? or I need to buy the Omni cmc, the line kit and the spacer?
this helped me with my fourth gear grind. before the clutch would grab like 1 or 2 in off the floor. now it grabs letting it up half way like when it was new.
thanks so much i almost wanted to get rid of my si. now imin love again lol.
i saw that u arent on 8th anymore so i just wanted to let you kno it worked.
All I was doing was displaying an assumed broken transmission's ability to stand up to abuse after I provided my "2nd gear fix". Flat-footing is shifting without letting off the gas at WOT(wide open throttle). Speed shifting is shifting quickly while still letting off the gas.
I wouldn't recommended flat-foot shifting as it wears your transmission faster, I just wanted to show that it has the capability.
@AK47PERFORMANCE it's called "power shifting", and that's some of the shittiest ive seen. and power shifting is not as hard on your tranny as you think. the new Si have cable shift, so power shifting a cable tranny is hard. oldder hydro trannys you can power shift to the moon and back, with no issues. it's the clutch that takes the abuse, not the tranny.
Hydro tranny? maybe you're referring to a solid linkage transmission, common in RWD cars where the shifter goes directly into the transmission. Those are somewhat easier to power-shift because you can apply more acute pressure on the syncronizers than in a cable-shifted transmission. The clutch does take abuse from power-shifting but so do the syncronizers. I don't need to tell you that because you are a shop owner with ASE certs with 100s of transmissions under his belt, right?
@AK47PERFORMANCE I actually don't own my own shop, but ive worked for honda for many years. sure, a "rod type" actuated tranny for those of you who don't know. Last time i checked you werent supposed to hit your fuel cutoff when "flat foot shifting" as you call it. power shifting means youre shifting between gears under power, and quickly. theres no power to be made on the rev limiter buddy, you need some practice.
Many years? you've been legal to have a job for what, 5 years seeing as you are 21? All I was doing was displaying an assumed broken transmission's ability to stand up to abuse after I provided my "2nd gear fix". Shifting any faster would cause 2nd gear to grind. Though bouncing off the rev limited is unecessary, you should know being a 'Honda Guy' that they make power right up to the stock fuel cutoff, so bouncing off the limiter between shifts was not wasting any power potential.
This was with a stock CMC. Once you put a Omni Power in the clutch engages much faster. Obviously you know nothing about cars. Nice bong videos, why don't you go light up and keep assuming you know everything. Thank you for commenting!
@AK47PERFORMANCE there was only one good shift this whole video, dont make a video "Civic Si- Proper Shifting After 2nd Gear Fix" i will race you with the EXACT same car and win, every time.
no need to double clutch on the Si man, its not a tranny out of a '54 ford pickup, rev-matched downshifts work perfect .. we have synchros for a reason
It's because i'm hitting the rev limiter. Many people have tried badgering me saying that "i need to shift faster" but I'm actually doing this on purpose. The idea of powershifting is that you're dumping the clutch into the next gear and leaving your foot at wide open throttle to provide for the most power into the next gear. I hit the limiter because my transmission was worn at the time and i didn't want to grind any gears by shifting TOO fast.
Oh, I see! I had no idea that the factory 2 step was available in between shifts like that, when it's time for a new clutch I'll give that a try, haha. I think it actually sounds cool, I've never seen anybody powershift off of a 2 step before.
Tried a 2nd to 3rd flat-foot today, it made me really nervous, but I eventually, after 3 tries or so, got quick enough with it to only bounce it twice. Fun stuff! Thanks for letting me know!
Thanks, I really enjoyed your video of you bullying a child on a trampoline. We need more people like you to bully children and post stupid comments on informative videos. Kudos to you.
LOL when will you tards learn that blasting the gears on these cars will only destroy the transmission and the shift cables. That's great you can shift faster man, I wasn't going for that.
hi, i like your threads on 8thcivic about the gear fix, So easy buy so difficult to see the obvious sometimes. wanted to ask you something, im about to buy a 2007 used si, how can i know for sure if the transmission is ok, its got about 15k miles, thanks in advance.
@AK47PERFORMANCE u wanna tlk about a badgered trans, i have a horrible synchro in 3rd causing a grind yet i shift faster than that, oh and my trans has the weakest synchros and open diff outta any honda trans made yet i shift faster than that so dont tlk to me about bad trans. u jus cant shift fast end of story.
Rev-matching and double clutching are not the same thing. Double clutching is really more for transmissions without synchronizers (straight cut or dog boxes) or worn synchros.
your speed shifting was extremely slow shifting.. even your flat footed shifting is too slow, you're bouncing off the rev limiter. if you do it properly and fast enough, it shouldn't bounce at all.. and double clutching isn't necessary when rev match down shifting, it's actually slower. while you have noobs complimenting your video. all i see is fail fail and more fail
Elijah I think you need to keep you comments to yourself. It's hard to shift a transmission any faster when it has chipped and blued clutch teeth on 2nd and 3rd gear. Rev-Matched Down shifting is the definition of double-clutching. If you don't pump the clutch twice you are never going to match revs. I don't need your driving lesson because you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.
I know that, I always let it warm up before driving it hard. I am saying that it is notchy going into second gear no matter how gentle I am with it when its cold! When it warms up, it shifts smooth.
