  • I feel bad for the civic... learn how to drive

  • Just did the 2nd gear fix DIY! Thanks AK47 shifts like a beast now, completely different! Fyi to anyone, I dont really care much to power shift but it does make a difference, especially with the throttle by wire in the Si.

  • Oh and this is wrong to use on any car. No matter of turbos or not, all this does is damage your cars and makes you look like an idiot...

  • Wow your a fucking idiot and this is why people make fun of these cars. How sad, its a civic you jackass. You look like a fucking retard and you make the car sound like shit. Dont see how you can be this stupid FYI you gain absolutely nothing from shifting like that lol That style of shifting is for shifting turbo cars so the dont lose boost and here you are using it (TRYING) to be faster. Save yourself the money learn how to drive and use that money you save to make it faster the right way.

  • I see why u have tranny problems on sucha new car..

  • Awesome shifting bro... Any who I bought a used 07 civic si with 67000 miles and the third gear pops out any solutions for that?

  • HEY BRO. DID YOU HAVE TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS TO THE CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION SWITCH, OR THE CLUTCH INTERLOCK SWITCH? I JUST HAD A NEW CLUTCH INSTALLED AND LIGHTENED FLYWHEEL. NOW IM HAVING TO PUSH THE CLUTCH PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FIREWALL. WOULD THIS ADJUSTMENT FIX THAT PROBLEM?

  • What about gear oil, stock Honda MTF or something different ?

  • people like this guy think they look so cool trying to shift fast like if they are driving an extremely fast sports car

they just look like retards in my opinion

  • does anybody elses 08 si grind 2nd like a bitch when your doing a burnout

  • @hunterdmetz111 i had a prelude, 01' when power shifting. it would grind like a bitch into 2nd. i think its a honda thing honestly. lol

  • @chevyblows2001 lol it must be it pisses me the fuck off mainly when im trying to be a badass and i look like i dont know how to drive a stick

  • @hunterdmetz111 i know. it pisses me off makes me look like a rookie and shit. im like i can probally drive stick better then you if my car would let me. lol

  • @chevyblows2001 lol ya its fucking gay

  • @hunterdmetz111 my 90 prelude does the same thing

  • @sushiJohni must be a honda thing lol

  • Those shifters look like a piece of shit. Sissy shifter.

  • way too agressive on the shifter youre gonna destroy it, and take your damm foot of the clutch when you dont use it

  • i have a 07 si that grinds between 2nd to 4th its fucked feels like the gears arnt fully going in ?? never happened until i got a tranny flush

  • @ppackingnegro wrong fluid. you HAVE to use honda MTF.

  • Do you know how to fix on a stock ek tranny? the d16. Everytime I shift to 2nd it feels weird and im not sure if it's fully in to 2nd and usually grinds when racing.

  • @09204418448

This fix is specifically for the 8th gen Si transmissions. You probably have worn syncronizers, a very common problem in manual transmissions. The difference with the 8th gen Si transmissions is they grind prematurely; well before they actually become worn out. Try adjusting you master cylinder linkage if the clutch seems to engage very close to the floor.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE Thank you bro. Should teach some tuts. ^:)^

  • Do you know if your fix works for an RSX? The grind is really getting on my nerves

  • hey if my 1999 honda civic si does not do that is because of the clutch need to be replace already. i cant make no burnout

  • Could you make a vid showing how to fix the 2nd gear grind?

  • i-VTEC just kicked in yo!

  • Nice shifting, i want to shift fast but i cant because i have the same problem with the 2 gear.... I have a cuestion, I need to buy only the Omni Clutch Master Cylinderc? or I need to buy the Omni cmc, the line kit and the spacer?

    Thanks for help..

  • man, it looks like alot of people on youtube became engineers overnight.!!! love the comment scene.

  • speed shifting.. it looks terrible for your clutch and engine.

  • what kind of short shifter do you have?

  • this helped me with my fourth gear grind. before the clutch would grab like 1 or 2 in off the floor. now it grabs letting it up half way like when it was new.

thanks so much i almost wanted to get rid of my si. now imin love again lol.

i saw that u arent on 8th anymore so i just wanted to let you kno it worked.

    thank you so much.

  • What are these terms? And what are they for? Flat-footing? Speed Shifting?

  • @NostalgicLink

All I was doing was displaying an assumed broken transmission's ability to stand up to abuse after I provided my "2nd gear fix". Flat-footing is shifting without letting off the gas at WOT(wide open throttle). Speed shifting is shifting quickly while still letting off the gas.

I wouldn't recommended flat-foot shifting as it wears your transmission faster, I just wanted to show that it has the capability.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE Cool, thanks for the help.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE it's called "power shifting", and that's some of the shittiest ive seen. and power shifting is not as hard on your tranny as you think. the new Si have cable shift, so power shifting a cable tranny is hard. oldder hydro trannys you can power shift to the moon and back, with no issues. it's the clutch that takes the abuse, not the tranny.

  • @jmilla191

Hydro tranny? maybe you're referring to a solid linkage transmission, common in RWD cars where the shifter goes directly into the transmission. Those are somewhat easier to power-shift because you can apply more acute pressure on the syncronizers than in a cable-shifted transmission. The clutch does take abuse from power-shifting but so do the syncronizers. I don't need to tell you that because you are a shop owner with ASE certs with 100s of transmissions under his belt, right?

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE I actually don't own my own shop, but ive worked for honda for many years. sure, a "rod type" actuated tranny for those of you who don't know. Last time i checked you werent supposed to hit your fuel cutoff when "flat foot shifting" as you call it. power shifting means youre shifting between gears under power, and quickly. theres no power to be made on the rev limiter buddy, you need some practice.

  • @jmilla191

Many years? you've been legal to have a job for what, 5 years seeing as you are 21? All I was doing was displaying an assumed broken transmission's ability to stand up to abuse after I provided my "2nd gear fix". Shifting any faster would cause 2nd gear to grind. Though bouncing off the rev limited is unecessary, you should know being a 'Honda Guy' that they make power right up to the stock fuel cutoff, so bouncing off the limiter between shifts was not wasting any power potential.

  • @ak47performance go fuck yourself, just becuace you cant drive doesnt mean you have to talk shit just put some miles on it.

  • @poonpiratex420 shut up and go eat some bong.

  • ya the proper way to shift, ok so you have a riced out shitft nob, thats it, you cant shift good at all, not once in this video did you cherp 3rd.

  • @poonpiratex420

    @poonpiratex420

This was with a stock CMC. Once you put a Omni Power in the clutch engages much faster. Obviously you know nothing about cars. Nice bong videos, why don't you go light up and keep assuming you know everything. Thank you for commenting!

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE there was only one good shift this whole video, dont make a video "Civic Si- Proper Shifting After 2nd Gear Fix" i will race you with the EXACT same car and win, every time.

  • @poonpiratex420 i highly doubt that.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE LOL at the reply to mr poon pirate =P

  • @poonpiratex420 shut the fuck up i think he did a real clean job

  • no need to double clutch on the Si man, its not a tranny out of a '54 ford pickup, rev-matched downshifts work perfect .. we have synchros for a reason

  • @allstarlt1

A syncronizer is like a clutch or brake pad. I like to wear them as little as possible when I'm in the mood.

  • your an idiot ur just burning ur clutch out....have fun replacing it

  • @Laurasworld5690

    Already have. It''s really easy!

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE

No way it was, I've seen threads posted on DIY's..

It's had to have been a pain! How long'd it take?

  • what shift knob is that if u dnt mind me asking

  • @marxman17 Greddy 'GREX" knob. It's quite nice.

  • nice video... i saw your thread on 8th gen.. nice writeup n excellent pics!.... sorry to hear your no longer there

  • i give ya props man are trannys can be finicky.

  • this is how u drive people!

  • Why do your flat-foots making that bouncing noise? Just curious, I'm new to manual. Been driving my Si for 3 months now.

  • @Enemyofreali7y

It's because i'm hitting the rev limiter. Many people have tried badgering me saying that "i need to shift faster" but I'm actually doing this on purpose. The idea of powershifting is that you're dumping the clutch into the next gear and leaving your foot at wide open throttle to provide for the most power into the next gear. I hit the limiter because my transmission was worn at the time and i didn't want to grind any gears by shifting TOO fast.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE

Oh, I see! I had no idea that the factory 2 step was available in between shifts like that, when it's time for a new clutch I'll give that a try, haha. I think it actually sounds cool, I've never seen anybody powershift off of a 2 step before.

    Thanks for the info!

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE

Tried a 2nd to 3rd flat-foot today, it made me really nervous, but I eventually, after 3 tries or so, got quick enough with it to only bounce it twice. Fun stuff! Thanks for letting me know!

  • nice write up on 8th gen bro, I'm going to fix this tomorrow.

  • @dpark1286

Little-to-no wear on the synchronizers and clutch when down-shifting.

  • Just keep riding the clutch like that and you'll be fix'in your shit all over again.....

  • @Popachoppacity

stage 1 exedy clutch. yes we understand power-shifting wears the clutch more than regular shifting. thank you.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE you welcome hehe

  • @Popachoppacity

89,000 miles on the stock clutch, thanks for your input though.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE Tell to this guy that its a Honda ! not a Big Money Wasted

  • im gonna fix this tomorrow! i had a horrible grind today and its time to put an end to it + fix my driving LOL

thx for the threads on the site man u took ur time to help!

  • @ph11911191lly

no problem dude. wish i could be back on the site but they keep banning my ip address.

  • bahhh keep practicing ...

  • bahhh keep practice

  • what you call "flat foot" shifting actually gives a better 1/4 time, but it wears down your valves, wouldn't recommend doing it often

  • @alamrisa

How do you suppose? It's just hitting fuel cut. The area receiving the most wear out of this whole deal would be the clutch and syncronizers.

  • yur a pussy

  • @paliboyz8

Thanks, I really enjoyed your video of you bullying a child on a trampoline. We need more people like you to bully children and post stupid comments on informative videos. Kudos to you.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE thanks bro yur not as big of a pussy than i thought. but u still kinda r

  • What kind of shift nob is that

  • @jumpcrw247

TRUST, its the japanese version of greddy. just search google for "greddy/trust 6 speed shift knob"

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE

ohh so i dont need a short shifter

  • dude you suck donkey balls at flat-foot shifting i will own you any day

  • @Habibu21

LOL when will you tards learn that blasting the gears on these cars will only destroy the transmission and the shift cables. That's great you can shift faster man, I wasn't going for that.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE smd son those transmissions are strong enough to withstand that shit especially if you do it right itll last you forever

  • @Habibu21

You have no clue what you're talking about. Every comment you leave is complete useless crap. Go comment on a Justin Beiber video, please.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE you are useless crap that cant drive and cant understand what people say

  • my car wont shift into 2 gear at 8k<but im going to try what you have on the 8thcivic

  • hi, i like your threads on 8thcivic about the gear fix, So easy buy so difficult to see the obvious sometimes. wanted to ask you something, im about to buy a 2007 used si, how can i know for sure if the transmission is ok, its got about 15k miles, thanks in advance.

  • bro you cant drive give it up you shouldnt tap the rev limiter like that when powershifting properly

  • @slizzle2k

I like to save my transmission bud. It's not about how fast I shift but that fact that im redlining into the next gear.

  • one quetion how do you have launch control?

  • @jhonytox

    Comes stock.

  • i agree, thats not speed shifting at all....i get more spin in 2nd in the ls integra wit jus a filter than u do wit a k20 and mods...sad

  • @integrafan01

The car had a badgered transmission at the time of the video, the shifts needed to be slower. I don't care about your pos.

  • @AK47PERFORMANCE u wanna tlk about a badgered trans, i have a horrible synchro in 3rd causing a grind yet i shift faster than that, oh and my trans has the weakest synchros and open diff outta any honda trans made yet i shift faster than that so dont tlk to me about bad trans. u jus cant shift fast end of story.

  • Rev-matching and double clutching are not the same thing. Double clutching is really more for transmissions without synchronizers (straight cut or dog boxes) or worn synchros.

  • your speed shifting was extremely slow shifting.. even your flat footed shifting is too slow, you're bouncing off the rev limiter. if you do it properly and fast enough, it shouldn't bounce at all.. and double clutching isn't necessary when rev match down shifting, it's actually slower. while you have noobs complimenting your video. all i see is fail fail and more fail

  • @iamElijah

Elijah I think you need to keep you comments to yourself. It's hard to shift a transmission any faster when it has chipped and blued clutch teeth on 2nd and 3rd gear. Rev-Matched Down shifting is the definition of double-clutching. If you don't pump the clutch twice you are never going to match revs. I don't need your driving lesson because you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Whats the point in double clutch downshifting?

  • @IceMurder

Doesn't use the syncronizers when done correctly. Makes them last longer and saves them for upshifting.

  • Thanks Bro!! This is going to make me a happy man when I fix this!!! Thanks!!!

  • Dude! You are the Man I cant Wait to do thsto my car brother!!

  • YOu are The man In my Book Dude!!! I cannot wait to do this to my car brother!! God Bless!

  • My car does not grind but it feels really notchy going into second when the car is cold! Will this help at all?

  • @ITRlover1

ALWAYS let your transmission warm up before you shift hard. These car rev to 8300 rpm and they need to be warm before high rpm shifting.

  • @ckyguy68

I know that, I always let it warm up before driving it hard. I am saying that it is notchy going into second gear no matter how gentle I am with it when its cold! When it warms up, it shifts smooth.

  • i got that same shift knob lol... makes it sit real low.

  • Nice VTEC sound

  • can i have a link or thread to this lol thanks

    nice shifting dude

  • good job, i've adjusted all my stuff ages ago, and i always suspected the height at which the clutch caught was an issue.

I'm way past the point of a clutch adjustment fixing my 2nd gear. But if i knew about this a year ago, i'd have done it immediately lol.

  • @w00t692

Thanks man. People need to realize they can save their 2nd gear by doing this! That's why I'm trying to get the word out!

  • thank you so much i cant wait to try this!

  • That shifter is Short!

  • Not a problem man!

  • this is bumi from 8th. thx for the diy dude. im gonna try it asap
