yeah 400 im is tough but you get a rest after the fly in the backstroke. 200 fly is brutal 1500 can be tough coz of the speed they are going but 200 fly has got to be one of the hardest sporting events on the planet. phelps just makes it look so easy he is just the greatest athlete and really cool how he handles the pressure so well.

It's all about perspective and opinion, with out mindlesly spitting out numbers. To recognize these things takes true knowledge of all peripherals. In my opinion, Thorpe, Hackett and Baumann are the three greatest swimmers of all time. Popov, De Bruijn, and Phelps all have their place in this era of swimming. That's opinion.

Three years later, the meaning has drastically changed. Phelps has three wr remaining. one more than cielo and Biedermann. Of his three wr's, phelps has the likes of Munoz, Cavic, Matsuda, Cseh, Korzeniowski, Lochte and Clary breathing down his neck. Phelps was the best after two weeks in China... two years of evidence later...is he?

I agree that Lochte is the best swimmer now but Michael hasn't trained that much this year. He is allowed to have some bad moments. You'll see Michael will win 4 gold medals in London. When you consider that, relays included, Phelps really only has a chance at four medals... as you stated. Lochte has beaten him, and I'm not puttung everyone down.
