Ok, I actually figured out how to do the dissolve...the cursor has to be exactly in the centre of the clips you want to dissolve between, then when going to effects, press "Centred here" and choose the amount of frames for the dissolve
I see your final export will be under 1GB. My exports come out to 3 GB for a 6 minute video. I'm confused about the codecs and don't seem to affect the final size. I have the Matrox Codec Pack, but it still comes out large (I select only to render the edit, not the whole project). Please help!
Thumbs down for this tutorial. Don't drink coffee before making your vids. Way too fast. I didn't get anything out of this. You need to break this up into two tutorials, and take a little more time to actually explain why your doing what your doing. Jeez, I wish people who made tutorials would remember that most who view them don't know anything about the program in the first place. Without explanations of each function, and why you use it, it becomes pointless to watch. Thumbs down.
I'm having some problems with Lightworks. Whenever I cut the video and get rid of the bit I don't want, when I try to move the clips I do want back to the start of the timeline, the clip doesn't move at all, it just starts to... Distort? I dont know the right word... Any ideas on why that's happening? :)

I have to check some more demo videos, but is there a way to set it up as a static interface with a viewer window and a final window so it would be better for long form editing using a 3-point system that's standard in the industry?
Dude, I'm a very experienced editor and I could not follow you to save my life, you go too fast! Too fast man you are! You know your stuff. I'm getting it but I have to start over on your vids all the time and re-watch, rinse and repeat. I do appreciate your efforts though, thanks for posting these vids.
@JoeCubicle Heh, yeah, some of the earlier videos I made were like that. If you care to, take a look at the more recent ones- they are more deatiled and slower. Cheers!
Um, ok....I used screen recording software to record some videos, and when I tried to use the clips, they were all messed up in Lightworks. Is there any good, free software to record with and use in lightworks?

Can you do timeline based editing vs. bin based editing? IE - FCP is very fast as you can dump clips on a timeline, use extended markers while scrubbing, deleting marked footage, close gap = instant assembly.
And right away another one... but a little rushed I think... maybe you do only little less content and thus can do slower, more detailed explanation in future videos?
very difficult to use not a friendly user software..

I'm having some problems with Lightworks. Whenever I cut the video and get rid of the bit I don't want, when I try to move the clips I do want back to the start of the timeline, the clip doesn't move at all, it just starts to... Distort? @sladikk Camstudio? Download the codec pack and adjust the settings to AVI and it ought to work well
