Ain't OSW something like Google Wave already provides? I mean, If understand correctly what Laurent said by federated and the OSW protocol, if Myspace and Orkut start to plug their front-end to be wave protocol compliant then we'll end up with real time, federated social web? Why not to embrace google wave as this protocol?
Love OSW, they already did what Diaspora is aiming to do ! FB is a complete mess these days, can't wait until OSW goes mainstream . Thanks for the video :)
The general public will switch if it's cool enough. If Google's Orkut or Myspace would implement this - it would stand a chance against Facebook.
The other way of getting this into mainstream is to target companies, universities and such and offer private social networks that can work together with other similar parties.
Scoble: I'm leaving Facebook, and this guy sums up the reason(s) why. We need variation, we need more {strong} choices.
At the end of the day, the question remains, "Will the general population want this, or will they be content on one social network as it currently is now with Facebook?"
