  • It is a VERY beautiful engine. Runs very smooth and pulls lots of freight.

  • I swear, I'm gonna find you and fight you ! Lol

Two and a half minutes before you even get it out of the box !

I'm on a limited download here and my iPhone HATES your high quality videos !

I only wanted to see if it was like a class 13, which it ain't so arrrrrrgh frustration overload.

Only joking about the find you fight you thing, heard it in a comedy on tele :-D

  • @willygrant1971 haha lol that's ok. but yeah, bring it on! Winner gets to keep the class 14 lol

  • is that a class 50 up at the top at 7:03 two away from the industrial 0-4-0

if it is, can you do an unboxing of it

  • @00gaugerocks a new video on the Class 50 is coming up soon!

  • @InterCity82 thanks

  • How about making a review on the class 31?

  • Just a thought, if your making a coal mine with n.c.b locos; why nt get modelzone's n.c.b pannier or ontracks.co.ujs industrial in n.c.b black? :)

  • Is she powerful?

  • @SuperJimjoe VERY

  • @InterCity82 As powerful as the ViTrains Class 37?

  • @SuperJimjoe nothing is more powerful than a ViTrains 37 lol

  • @InterCity82 I know i would be very impressed if it was more powerful!

  • £114? Rip Off! :)

  • @EastMidsTrainsHSTBoy This loco is well detailed and has a good motor. For the size it seems expensive but if you had one you would change your mind.

  • does it not seem silly that she had hoses on her front and back and yet her underside detail is practically nonexistent? please correct me if i'm wrong as i could only see what was on the video, but i just wanted to point it out.

  • Oh buy the way how do u dcc a dc

  • @BluGuyMo - vid in on my channel ;)

  • how much was she

  • @BluGuyMo - £114

  • So this Heljan loco is DC? and could it be coupled to a hornby/bachmann train?

  • @ThomasLives - yes it's DC and will happily connect to 99% of all Hornby/Bachmann OO stock.

  • Brilliant video and brilliant loco

  • why dont you do the flying scotsman

  • @dav3frere - I'm in no rush to do the Flying Scotsman as it runs in totally the wrong end of the country to me. But I will get one soon.

  • do all the livery's have working lights

  • @Liverpoolfcfever - you mean 'liveries' and yes as far as I know they do.

  • Interesting video. I have never considered buying anything in the Heljan range...but after watching your very informative video I think I can be tempted to give them a go. Thanks!!

    Sam.

    subbed

  • @HillsideModelRailway - you're welcome! :)

  • could u help me chose between a class 14 or a class 86 both from Heljan

  • @Liverpoolfcfever - I cannot pick locos for people - you have to go for whatever you like the look of most. Both are good models so you will not be dissapointed with either - I know that much.

  • as well as the class 14 why don't you get the bachmann ncb pannier tank which is exclusive to modelzone

  • @modelrailway100 - I'm not aware of any such locomotive - but will look into it. Thanks! :)

  • was she expensive because she looks it!!

  • @ardnut53 - £110

  • @InterCity82

    WOW!! where from

  • @ardnut53 - Hattons

  • i f only hornby could have a box like that!

  • It looks small

  • youre going to DCC her right, coz you wouldnt want those head boards flickering if shes shunting trucks near the mine

  • @stuggit1 - she will be DCC chipped yes

  • I have around £40 and i want to restart the model hobby when i had it a few years ago, i just need a locomotive.

Is there anything around that price that you know of?

  • @class37trash - what about a GWR Pannier tank? Or a 3F Jinty? Or if you want something more modern, how about a class 08? OR class 03/04?

  • i have £80 to spend at hattons. what diesel loco would you recommend? When my pendolino is running DCC sometimes it just slams into revers without me telling it to and i am worried that it my damage it. would you have any idea of what the problem my be ?

  • @Pearson4472 - there could be a fault with the DCC chip or the DCC controller. But nothing else as far as I know should cause a train to suddenly reverse direction. As for what loco I recommend, the class 58 by Heljan is good, so is the class 37 by Vi-Trains, and the class 66 by Bachmann. If you want Honby, the class 50 and 60 are impossible to beat on quality. :)

  • @InterCity82. it must be the decoder. i will keep my eye on it! I think i will get a vi-trains 37 because it is a bargain and a bachmann class 03 since i don't have a shunter or i could wait for the heljan railbus to come out but i don't think i can wait! And i have just spend £20 on a new chassis for my mainline j72 :) what loco are you planning on getting next?

  • @Pearson4472 - I'm not sure to be honest, so many choices! :)

  • @InterCity82 yeah there is! how about a class 17 i have one its very good but a little bit on the slow side!

  • @intercity

    Thankyou

  • Im new to model-railways and I love your videos, how do you edit locos(wether paint etc)?

  • @JAS0NJW - you can customise a locos appearance by adding detail, removing detail, and weathering. Weathering can be done with paints, powders or pastels. These can all be bought from local model shops and online. For details, pick up a model railway magazine. They have useful adverts in.

  • The loco looks good but dose it run well?

  • @5786Thomas - yes. That's why it got 10 out of 10 for performance.

  • Nice opening review :) As I may have said before, I'm not a massive fan of the Class 14 but it looks very nice :) Great stuff, as always :)

  • when you chip this loco use the bachman chips! the motor is 700mA & hornby chips are only 500mA so it will stop working when you put some pressure on this loco

  • That little shunter is just BLOODY AMAZING!! I really wish I could get one but I don't live any where near Hattons in Liverpool

  • @Badgersize - order it online at ehattons

  • @InterCity82 there also avalable at olivias trains in shefield online for £145 under the "limited edition" section.

  • I really want to order one of these but I just can't get over the rubbishy service I've been getting from Hatton's lately. It looks pretty well packaged by Heljan though so that might outweigh Hatton's inability to packaged trains correctly. Anyway thanks for the great review, I think you've helped me make my mind up :).

  • @TestValleyRailway - maybe take a day trip out to Liverpool? Swing by the actual shop and buy it in person? I've done that a few times and it's well worth the trip - like you say, to at least know it will travel home safely. :)

  • im guessing you could use 3-link chain on this puppy rather than those not so scale couplings so common with british 00 scale models

i think the short hood is the "front" on this locomotive

  • 2nd 10/10!

  • dear intercity82 can you review Heljan Container Crane

  • @hydronauts - lol, buy me one and I will! :D

  • arg you forgot to mention my birthday noooooooooooooooo

    please remember

  • @matanuialive2010 - as these videos were already edited and encoded (thus couldn't be changed) I shall do a special mention for you on an upcoming vid, and recommend your channel for you - along with mention your birthday. :)

  • Great thanks for the advice. Great videos too!

  • Thanks. I had a small dc loop about 10 years ago. But I want to have a go at a life-like layout now and obviously dcc is best. Is it easy to set up? And who, in your opinion, has the best products?

  • @RD32792 - Basically... get yourself a Hornby DCC starter set. Go to the Hornby website and pick a DIGITAL DCC set you would like. Maybe the Pendolino? Or maybe the Mixed Goods? They do quite a few of them now. Start with one of them and take it from there. :) It's definitely the simplest and easiest way to get into the world of digital DCC control. I got the DCC Virgin Pendolino set and love it! :) 50% of my trains are now DCC.

  • I'm sorry this is probably really obvious and simple but how do you power dcc track? And are there any difficulties with the points into sidings or for changing tracks?

  • @RD32792 - There's no such thing as DCC track. There's track, and there's DC controllers and DCC controllers. A DC controller maks the track DC. And as you've already worked out, a DCC controller makes the track DCC. There's a big difference between the two systems and generally they're not compatible with each other. As for points, well basically. If I have loop 3 DCC and loop 2 DC then I keep them separate. The mix them would cause a short-out.

  • very nice loco. might get one in the future.

i've heard romuers(?) that your layout is in pieces?

is this true or am i mis-taken?

  • @ThomastheE2engine - yes it's in bits at the moment as the rooms are being re-decorated :)

  • ok thanks:)

  • I don't by engines a lot just the ones I like the look off never Burt a Heljan model but I really like the way they make shore the model is so safe in the box.

  • Do these locomotive still run in the UK?

  • @penninefilms - I couldn't tell you to be honest. But I'm sure you could find out via Google/Wikipedia.

  • @InterCity82 Ok thanks.

  • how many locos do you have and do you have some dcc sound engines?

  • @HARRYMALLARD - at the last count I had 72 locos and 280 something items of rolling stock. I have DCC sound now too - and a video on it will be coming up as soon as I've done the ones I need to first.

  • ive been dubating with having one in BR Blue or BR Green, which one do you reccomend me?

  • Is that rare!

  • 1000th viewer

  • 1,000th to view!

  • at 6:21 you see sparks coming out of your track so i would look at that

  • How much is it also does the door open or the fan work nice vid aswell

  • @miniadult12 - it was £115 - the fan doesn't work

  • 1st overall 10/10

  • @gtacrusher123 - second actually, the class 50 got maximum score back in December :)

  • @InterCity82 oh did it

  • did anyone notice the 746 views that came in two days!!!?1??

  • I wanted one of these!!!! :)

  • tops numbering

  • Another brilliant video review :) Not a massive fan of the Class 14, but it is a very, very, very, very nice model of it :)

  • Nice review as always, I like the loco its very unusual :)

  • yeh that would be a good video

  • Now that is a beauty! Well done sir! However...taking a point off for packaging? Picky picky picky lol

  • @clusterfak - lol, maybe but what's a review without some controversy lol and besides, it is actually way too much plastic for such a tiny product. Some people do throw the packaging away and that's a lot of plastic that needs to be recycled (most of which can't actually be recycled currently)

  • It is supposed to run the otherway Will :D

  • @HornbyExpress - well in all honesty I don't think it matters really. :) It's clearly designed to run in both directions. Not like an A4 Pacific!

  • did you know the class 14 was also used a docs for other jernys of delivering and she also worked in crories, i think thats how you spell it

  • @hornby2345673412456

    quarries and Journeys

  • @stuggit1 thanks :)

  • @stuggit1 and docks

  • Do the lights swap colours when going in the opposite direction?

  • @mcgherkinstudios - they do :)

  • It've got a mark deducted is it because the packaging is not enviromental friendly enough? lol

  • @hkbfkmb - well yeah. That's an important issue in today's modern consumables. We need to strive towards better, more environmentally friendly packaging. In case you hadn't noticed, landfill sites are getting pretty full. The packaging from the Hornby class 50 delivers the loco just as safely, is completely re-usable and used abut 30 to 40% less plastic.

  • This is a truly amazing model, except for her copper contact strips, which really put me off....I would have painted them black

  • @dbdrdbag - from most angles they're not visible. And besides, if they're painted, wouldn't that stop them from conducting electricity?

  • Nice shes a nice loco :-D

  • @foxcell - thanks! :) yeah she is. very smart.

  • Great! It looks like a Australian shunter! And the livery looks a bit like a old Train Company Im guessing or was t renamed? Anyway Great review as always Will!

  • @2009Buzza - thank you! She is odd looking isn't she. Not like most British locomotives.

  • @InterCity82 Hardly. The only thing I found simmialer is the wasp stripes.

  • Is it powered by the flywheel like the prototype, do you know? And also, PLEASE review the Bachmann pannier tanks... Always loved those. (i dont wanna financially burden you though; if you cant thats ok)

  • @hornbytrainsets - a Pannier tank review is getting close :)

  • Fantastic review as always that loco looks a bit american design.

  • @tpe18509 - thanks and yeah I guess she does!

  • Great opening, i would buy the loadhual one, but i cant due to its price of £115....:(

  • @itgamer100 - that price might come down in time. Keep an eye on it :)

  • Awesome loco m8 :-) deffo going to invest in getting the loadhaul one now :-)

  • @Class66Rocks - yeah do mate! You will not be dissapointed lol

  • i really want 1 of these amaziing engines for my local coal train on my layout, 5*S

  • @jaannetts16 - if we ever meet up I can bring her along! And we could do a video of her going rounf your layout :)

  • I think you should get a class 03 I had one last week and it's amazing

  • @Beatboxer1346 - I probaby will in time

  • Amazing loco, your reviews are always the best on youtube!!!

  • @BMR5ify - lol thanks I'll maek sure I keep them good

  • can you do a video of putting the number plates in :)

  • @connorwarren1996 - I might do, I haven't yet lol

  • given the experience we've had of Heljan locos at our club its no wonder its so well packed! Good stuff, I like it in the NCB livery, bit different (and actually genunine unlike the BR blue version).

  • @matthewpeter - yeah I agree! Well it's perfect for my coal mine anywa :)

  • at 6:49 i couldnt help myself clapping lol

great video, you have so many trains, all i have is one bachman 66 and the rest is second hand nonsense.

loco looks gorgeous, shame i dont really have a need for a class 14

oh, and hows the perma layout coming on

  • she would look brill on my greenhouse layout. (Yes, greenhouse!)

  • THE TEDDY BEAR! I love these little locos, and this one looks great in blue!

  • amazing loco

    great detail

  • that looks really nice you are lucky you get it

  • nice i like teddy bears she really is a nice runner

  • Im only 14 so it goes to show the age range that railways appeal to!

  • This looks like a great model!

  • I love this loco and all your vids. Hopefully with the new series you could do a few tutorials. Your amazing and my video making and model railway idol!

  • @MrBenbo96 - lol thanks. And yes some tutorial and how to vids are on their way. VERY close now :)

  • how do we get into her...XD

  • nice i will get 1 one day but i think thats rarther fast for a shunter an dif she flickers at that high speed i dont know what she will be like at slow speed

  • @MrJezza31 - in DCC mode her lights are constant and she can go as slowly as you want :)

  • I want it

  • Nice! Teddy Bear diesel. :P

  • AWSOME! i want that! badly
