I love Cleopatra ! So much regardless of anyone's thoughts of her . As for the others , I will have to brush on some knowledge of them before I can form a proper opinion but I am intrigued to learn more . But this proves Queens are Stronger than Kings because we are females against a world ruled by men , history made us twice as fast and twice as strong , that's why we females are smarter :p
Girl POWER and this also prove that Men just mess everything up .
Is a downfall once a proud nation when Queen Min was assassinated.
Really powerful video.
The rest of the queens didn't brought any interest, but seeing a part of Korean historical figure, it made my eyes focused on this video. I will probably watch Empress Myongsong later. Looks awesome Korean historical drama.
It is really sad that Queen Myongsong's vision to get aid from Russians didn't came reality. We could have highly developed defense before Japanese invasion.
felicitaciones para el que hizo este gran tributo a aquellas mujeres tras los tronos que quizas hicieron mucho o no pero tubieron ese tragico final mi favorita de todas Ana Bolena
Empress Myeongseong aka Queen Min of Korea, she was killed by 20 Japanese assassins and her body was cut into pieces after she was raped countless times by 20 men, then her body parts were burned along her bodyguards and her servants. Her killer's descendants from Japan visited her tomb and say sorry for their ancestor's inhuman crimes.
@CHINEKEDIIGWEADAMMA To humiliate Korean monarch and this was ordered by grand father of current Emperor of Japan. This was why Koreans hated Japanese. This crime was so inhuman, even Japanese historian tried to hide it. Japan still holds the sword that killed Queen Min of Korea in their shrine, and the sword have engraved writing "Kill the grand fox of Korea!", she was known as grand fox of Korea by Japanese imperial house because she tried to limit their power by inviting Russian empire.
@watsupzzful wow!!! thank you so much...what a sad and tragic story...I feel for the murdered queen and her family and country....do you know the best book I could get to have more insight of this Queen's story? Thank so much for replying...
Oh, noooo! Has this been disabled? It was one of my favorite videos, and I can't play it! Thanks for your great work ... decapitated AGAIN? *sigh* ANgEliQUE
They always protray Cleopatra as a seductress and nothing more, you know that was written by Roman enemies so of course they would write bad about her. Anyway I don't totally disagree that she wasn't good at manipulating people, she was, but she was also politicially intelligent and could speak many languages, including the language of her people, but the people still didn't like her because of her Greek ancestry.
If you ever decide to remake this you could use clips from The Other Boleyn Girl with Natalie Portman and the The Six Wives of Henry VII with Helen Bonahm Carter and also props for including Myeongseong because I dont think many people actually know she was.
This should be a video promoting women's rights. The history behind these women is inspiring. The fact that they endured so much for so long is a miracle. Great video! I enjoyed it.
wow, the woman playing Cleopatra is so beautiful. Actually, they all 3 are beautiful. I love Natalie Dormer, it's how I found this video, and it was beautifully done. I had never heard of Empress Myeongseong before this, but I love history, so this will have me researching her. Amazing.
I just think its all tragic the way this happened. Back then it might not have been so huge but now it seems as if life had been so cruel to them. P.S good job with the video it was great! THATS a talent...i think. =)
this video was amazing! well done, and all that time you spent making this, paid off! you did amazingly, well done, i loved Anne Boleyn <3 5 stars, favourited and subscribed :) xxx
Myeongseong's father-in-law (formally the Heungseon Daewongun, in your vid the bearded man at 5:03) attempted, with the Japanese, to demote the Empress (then Queen Consort; the Korean Empire wasn't yet declared about 2 years after her assassination) til commoner, but her husband declared he would rather slash his wrists than demote one who had helped the country.
also, he is suspected to have a hand at her assassination...
Incre´blel estas historias...la interpretación de Leonor Varela es magistral en Cleopatra...más real, mas mujer no solo mitologíca ...Si es Chilena es Buena.
i think what makes it truly tragic was how young they were these women never even made it to 50 not one! we forget how young these women were thrown into situations that girls today could never handle! thats what makes the powerful in my mind
You did a very good job with this video! I'm a huge fan of The Tudors, and a general fan of Cleopatra and Anne Boleyn (among other doomed queens in general).
A quick note on your info, though. Marc Antony did not die from injuries in battle. He actually stabbed himself, believing incorrectly that Cleopatra was dead. (Not her fault, as some say.) Still alive, he was carried to her and died in her arms.
the empress myeongseong's real name is still a mystery (but her surname of Min is true); the name Min Ja-yeong is fictitious (used in the drama, films, and the musical...)
Thank you :). It was a really rewarding video for me to make because I was covering a subject I really like and I learned a lot about vid making in general (I'm really still quite new to the youtube vid-making scene lol).
for the description of Empress Myeongseong, Gojong (her husband) never hated her, but was not just the type of woman he would have wanted as Queen Consort (he already had his share of concubines)...the term of "Mother of State" was attributed to her alleged final words "I am Joseon's Mother of State!"
And Queen Min was a derogratory term used to refer to her...
Was it really a derogatory term? My professor of Korean history used that name all the time when talking about her so I assumed it was just a regular contemporary name. I guess it's easier to write the shorter "Queen Min" in your notes than spelling out Empress Myeongseong :).
yes...I'm betting your prof also didn't knew about that...
In the royal court at Joseon (and also to everyone at that time) no one calls anyone by their surnames, it's rude...
...to add that, no one calls a Queen Consort "Queen X" (since they have no formal name (even before they become Queens Consort) until their death day, when they are assigned posthumous names), but only either "Jungjeon Mama", "Junggungjeon Mama", or the most polite "Wangbi Jeonha"...
yeah... I'm a Korean but.. Mostly I don't see her around like this.

Which version of Dante's Prayer is this? It's not the original... that choir was made up solely of men. This version is beautiful!

@dralockhart It's the same version. I just tweaked it with the MAGIX Movie Edit software. I think I made the pitch higher and increased the tempo.
