It is hard to understand if you are not from here. The people in the audience are doctors; Rath (the minister) was one of the least popular politicians in a long time. A lot of people have seen Macek as a hero and would have wanted to do the same. I remember huge doctors' strikes against Rath and against his so-called reforms.

He (Macek) hit him (Rath), because Rath had told some bad things about Macek's wife before. Don't really remember what it was... About her looking or stuff like that. And Rath also said in the public that Macek had married his wife only for money... I think that Macek didn't agree with that and wanted to show it to him :-)
