When I had days off during the week, I would end up putting on the Magic Garden on Channel 11 because they were teaching the kids folk music; like Oscar Brand's show on WNYC "under yon municipal moon."
we always wondered if they were lesbians....as children
especially when they sang the 'garden grow' song
it's funny when your a kid and you just "know"
the same was felt every single time Liberace came on. As a child i always knew he was 'different' and it was always something positive and fun, like Charles Nelson Reilly and Alan Zeuss.
I don't how you can equate Carole and Paula with Liberace, but in this case you don't "know". Carole has been married for close to 30 years. Not sure about Paula, but I do know she has kids. Liberace was certainly different, but Carole and Paula?
@elsquared201936 i don't see IsItEarthYet's equation either. As a kid and even as an adult that never popped into my head. What 3-13 year old wonders about sexual preferences? (unless exposed to it) Although, as an adult now, I swear Sherlock was high, the bird was a cokehead, and the chuckle patch was shroomin'.
@IsItEarthYet Yeah, you see a TV show with two women and you "just know" they were lesbians. I bet you rode in one of those small buses to go to school, didn't you?
I work with younger people and sometimes when I'm leaving work I sing see ya see ya... and nobody knows what I'm singing. It's ok cause I do :-) See ya See ya...
Such wonderful memories.... Loved Sherlock!

@VaseOfDryFlowers Gee, man--I love horror and Alice Cooper too, but loved this show as a kid--not pretentious or condescending as say BARNEY.

@gmfd76 absolutely. it was all part of development as a human as we knew it then. we turned out alright. the later generations are fucked though.

As an early teen at the time, I loved their tight jeans. I had outgrown the rest of the show..
