@PoliteCheese1414 These are assertions made without evidence. Demonstrate that a spear wound of the relevant degree would necessarily be fatal. Until then, what can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
How can a man be in heaven (which is only a place for souls) for 2000 years, doesn't matter how Divine Jesus can be, Jesus is not God the Father, nor God the son! Can a Watchmaker make a watch, and then become the watch?
This is the first time I have ever heard "swoon theory", and it is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. It makes much more sense to simply deny the entire story than pull out this tripe...
if you can beleive in the nonsense that he somehow came back to life out of nowhere after three days, why is it so hard to believ something that actually has some sciense behind it. there have been cases where people have survived many worst cases of death then Jesus. Did God not have the power to keep him alive? if he had the power to keep him dead. which one to believe when the ultimate explanation is the same: God has all powers?
To believe that The Divine can have a son is preposterous and contrary to the omnipotence of God. There is evidence of the swoon theory in the Bible itself.
@TheTuberOfTubing Umm considering Jesus's medical conditions I find that to be highly unlikely. Second, even if it were true, and Jesus came to see his disciples, no one would believe him to be the resurrected messiah if he was all bloodied and mangled; and if that's the case, then Christianity as a religion wouldn't have even existed in the first place.
Were all the soldiers who were in charge of the crucifiction and burial later killed for the blunder? If not, then there was no threat to Roman and Jewish aristocracy and the story is delusional and metaphorical. Did heads fly or were the Romans content to let the looney deciples rant and rave?Maybe the Roman soldier who later became a Christian stabbed Jesus lightly, did not break his legs, took him down early and the swoon theory has merit! the story in the Bible is the hardest to swallow.
Personaly i think he forgot a point what are the odds that Christ would awaken from his swoon at exactly 3 days just as all the prophicies said that he would. Mere coincidence or miracle?
@mageus07 haha... good one... as i come to think about this... only God can "swoon" back to life after being horribly scourged, crucified, and pierced at the side.
As much as I have enjoyed videos like this and writings by various apologists, I realize that true faith comes without seeing. That a desire to believe without evidence is the substance of real faith. Such videos may help those weak in faith or fence riders but they can be nearly insulting to any thinking individual you are aproaching. And let's face it, Paul never went out of his way to validate the resurrection to unbelievers provoke belief.
@MrNickKane The fact of the matter is that the HOLY SPIRIT has chosen who will be able to feel the TRUTH. I have told many people that argue about an ancient earth or dinosaurs and a million other atheist refutes that much of Christianity comes from faith but you cannot have faith in something that doesnt speak to your heart and soul . The fact that there are billions of people who worship a capentor is proof in of itself :-D Praise Jesus !
This is why apologetics, IMO, has made many Christians look utterly ridiculous in their arguements. A good example of this was The Case for Christ DVD. Their arguement? The Bible and Christ is valid because Christian sources and Christian experts say they are! Would you trust a Mormon if they approached you the same way. I buried my face in my hands in total shame after watching that dribble.
the Gospel without regard for their own safety is also not really "evidence". There were Germans who believed passionately in Hitler. People were passionate about David Koresh. Those in the Middle East who preached and risked thier lives for Muhammad. Because of their dedication, does it validate the teachings of Hitler, Koresh or Muhammed?
For instance, most of the arguement is based on the presupposition that the Apostles were telling the truth. Using the same approach, a Muslim could easily argue for their beliefs because they have the faith the Koran is 100% accurate. The same could be said for the Mormons and their Book of Mormon. Then, the arguement that the Apostles became totally dedicated and preached...
This video may be good for believers but for those who do not believe in the validity of Scripture or, like Thomas Jefferson, believed the Apostles were ignorant men who believed in "miracles", this video has not real relevance. Personally, I believe in the reality of the resurrection, however, their is some slippery slope arguements being used here, for instance...
I would have thought the most obvious reason is the testimony that blood and water came from Jesus side. Not to mention the whole burial thing, spending hours wrapping someone up in burial cloth... you'd **think** someone might notice some breathing going on.
Who comes up with these "critiques"?
Ah! No, don't answer that. I think we already know.
(Sidebar: I always remember Gene Scott's empathy with Thomas's skepticism. He made it understandable.)
It takes more faith to believe in the swoon theory than it takes to actually believe in the literal resurrection of Christ! The garbage that unbelievers will come up with NEVER ceases to amaze me.
@nightvidcole keep in mind the part where John records the Roman spearing Jesus in the right side to make sure he was dead. Blood and water came out of him as the spear was pulled out. Keep in mind that Jesus would've had a massive spike in heart rate, causing the membrane about the heart to fill up with the fluid. The fact that the Roman spear got that far into Jesus means that he would've died from the spearing, let alone the crucifixion! the fluid only collects once the comdemned ACTUALLY DIE
muslims making up stories... hm Does this still shock people? The name of their god is the great deceiver. Is there anyone in the world that doesn't realize muslims are told to lie to people by the koran?
What a nonsense theory, I wonder why the muslims are the ones with these kind of ideas !!! all the pain and suffering, the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ was so
terrible I can't even have the words to describe it !!
How silly is the swoon theory? Not only survive the severe beatings leading up to the cross, but he also survived the actual experience of the Roman form of crucifixion. If that weren't enough, Jesus managed to stay alive despite the fact of being pierced through to his heart is remarkable. Not only that, within 3 days, all those wounds that he received were completely healed and already turned to scars.
I am a Christian and I have to say that the swoon theory is indeed absolutely nonsense. The Romans made sure the prisoners were dead.
Very good video.
There is 1 acount of a survivor of crucixion. Josphus wrote about it. 3 man were taken down of the crossen. 2 of them died after that. 1 of them survived.
@Ritsaart You are quite correct. The friend of Josephus (one of three) was taken down EARLY. The three of them were given the BEST medical attention available to Rome. Still, only one of those three survived. So, even though some may argue that someone survived a crucifixion. Not only was he never fully crucified, then given the best of medical care, he also wasn't brutally beaten the way Yeshua was prior to His crucifixion.
@PoliteCheese1414 These are assertions made without evidence. Demonstrate that a spear wound of the relevant degree would necessarily be fatal. Until then, what can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

It is impossible to survive crucifixion and then Rome passed a death sentence to make sure no one survives. Kind of a silly thing to say.
rawrock24 3 months ago
@rawrock24 Demonstrably false claim - lots of people survive in the Phillippines Crucifixion Ceremony every year.
The argument is motivated by faith, not evidence. You WANT to believe that Christianity is true.
