i've had it since i was a little girl. i got it from my mother.. people always mistake it for a rash, not really acne. i have it on my upper thighs, arms, and sadly.. my face. however, it appears differently on my face. it doesn't have any bumps, it is just very red and is easily irritated. blech! i've tried everything to fix it.. nothing really has worked besides making it feel SLIGHTLY softer. thanks for having a video on it.. (:
exfoliating too much can really irritate it.. I've found that using vaseline brand moisturizer on my arms about twice a day (after my showers) really helps smooth things out... the bumps never have gone away for me but you can definitely soften them up and smooth them out.
thank you so much for this video. I always thought that i just had rough skin, not that it was a skin condition. I have had this for as long as i can remember, so this is really helpful.
I have it on my arms and legs.. :/ I'm self conscious about it, I can't wear shorts because of it, even when I shake and exfoliate, the KP still shows. it doesn't minimize
i have 2 of those bumps on my chest :( its so annoying i thought they were pimples but they never went away for a month so i tried to pop them, now they look like pimples worse AND very red :( ugh so frustrating
I have chicken skin (I've always called it that) and I'm SO self conscious I get one look from kid and they say "Eww wats up with that girl" or "What's wrong with your arms" it aggravates me. But I try to prevent it by: 1) exfoliating in the shower 2)using moistrurizer ALWAYS 3) and using a steroid cream . I have chicken skin it's a severe case and I just hate it I have it on my legs arms and face! Wow this is long!! Lol
I don't understand why you would choose to make a video about a skin disease that you a) don't personally have, b) don't know how to pronounce, and c) don't have correct information about. I have KP fairly severely and have been to various dermatologists about it over the years, so luckily I know better than to accept your false information. Bye, credibility. I'm unsubscribing.
@zkeb30 No, you are just dumb, almost everything she said is true. Like, you said you have been to various dermatologists for the past few years? lol big fail, you are basically saying you still do have kp after years of visits which means those dermatologists don't know shit, if they knew you wouldn't be stuck with it right now, would you?
I scrub my arms every time I shower! Put on lotion every night and day. Before i used to do that it made my arms really ruff but since doing that I have almost forgotten it.

I have it really badly on my neck, arms and upper thighs. When I was a kid I thought it was just "goosebumps".. It wasn't until I was pregnant that it flared up to where I was like " what the hell is this.." after some research I found out it was KP.
The best treatment I found is a combo of three things: shaving, tanning (vitaminD has helped) and by using a lotion called AmLactin.. It's made with alpha-hydroxy and it has completely cleared it up! It's about 15$ at costco for a huge bottle but
I have kp as well! In my case it's seems to be genetic cause my tween brother has it as well. :( in my case since im a black girl, my doctor said that the hair grows under my skin cause it's curly and didn't hit the pores. Thank you sooo much! I have KP and it is so helpful to know what can help! Not much information is out there about treatments and my dermatologist wasn't all that helpful.

This seriously helped soooo much! The funny thing is, I already have steriod cream for nickle rashes that I get alot. And recently my arms have gotten really red and itchy and I didn't know what it was so I started using the cream on it anyway.
Ahh thank you soooo much for this video!!! I have had kp forever-- i just never knew what it was called --- i thought it was dry skin!! haha you were soo helpful and informative!!! and now i deff wanna dry this dermadoctor scrub i read about in the comments. Also-- i watched one of blair (juicystar07) 's videos -- she has it too, but idon't think she knows what it is called --- and she uses a product from lush for it -- some type of lemon soap... anywho -- thanks!!!! x0xO!!!
I have it on the backs of my upper arms. Boys sometimes rub my arm and think it's goosebumps and say "oh you're cold".
I have found I can keep the bumps to a minimum if I use an Antibacterial soap and kind of scrub the area really well. If I can do it more than once a day it really helps even more.
Thank you for the helpful video. Im a young adult and I've had KP since my jr high yrs till now. But since then my KP has gotten a lot better & I've been to my derma for creams some of them helped some of them didn't but they didnt tell me I had KP. They jst said I had acne. But it didn't seem rite so I researched for myself & discovered this. Now im with scars & it's a little bumpy. Do u hve any suggestions for the scaring & little leftover bumps?
I've had severe kp on my arms and legs since I was a small kid. I am so self conscious when I'm wearing shorts because almost my whole legs are covered with red spots. I went to a few dermatologists but none of the creams they gave me helped. I exfoliate every time I shower, I use urea body lotion, dead sea bath salt and sometimes acne treatments. Nothing has done any changes to my skin so I guess I just have to live with it. :(
Hi, I was just wondering if you could possibly tell me about shaving bumps? Because I have alot of bumps on my legs when I shave and it always looks like I didn't shave. If that makes sense? I just wanted to know how I could get rid of them. :)
@horsefly951 they go away with age. there is no cure to keratosis pilaris. besides certain creams to making it feel softer. but the bumps will still be there.
Some of you might not know this but it also has a lot to do with vitamin D deficiency, when i found this out i started taking it,and just scrubbing my arms in the shower to try and break it down and now their almost gone completely. So it might help you guys too!
Let me see if I can help you pronounce it correctly. This is what it sounds like.My son has it. (Care-a-toe-sis) (Pie-lair-is) sound it out one word or syllable at a time then speed it up.Don't mean to act like a know it all.Just thought you might want to know.
Exfoliating helps, and I find that whenever I go on holiday somewhere sunny my kp goes away and my skin is much smoother! Maybe its something to do with Vitamin D? So I suppose you could try a Vitamin D supplement.
I was waiting for this video! Thanks!I think I have KP due to my dry skin and very fine hair, so the hair gets clogged up and I have it on my arms and its worse on my legs specially the back. xx
My brother and I have a quite severe condition: it's on both our arms and legs :( he doesn't do anything to make it look better, so it's very red and itchy... I scrub the area twice a week with gentle products (I have very sensitive skin) and I dunno why, but when it's dry outside it actually gets a lot better, the bumps get dry themselves and kinda come off o.o lol I'm weird I guess :P
i think i might have this but not sure. i have this "rash/hives" thing on my face and its been happening for 5 days now and now its going to my neck. do you think i might have it or no it might be a allergic reaction?
@BeautywithKrystin Hii! I had something like you before, and I didn't know what to do, so maybe you can go to a clinic( thats what I did) and they can give you a prescription of a cream or something to help that! I got this type of rash on my face( around my mouth and neck area) more than once and the cream they gave me helped alot! :) I hope this helps!
What's funny, is I clicked this video just because I was a little bored and wanted to learn a little something. Turns out I have this and have always wondered what it was on my elbows.
Hi! I have kp on the back of my arms and I used to was very annoyed about it. Now I usually forget that I have it because it got a lot better. My advice is just to moisturise a lot. It worked for me:) Or maybe you could try baby oil and massage with it if you have that kind of issue.
thank you so much ! this started in my arms 'bout a year ago i really thought it was about just the fact i have really sensitive skin ! this helped me so much to understand what is going with my arms because they are so red and like that. so this encouraged me so much to see a doctor so i can get help :)
i have kp , the best thing to do is exfoliating with natural products like sugar, olive oil and sea salt too , other thing that helps i going to be beach , trust me the salt water helps a lot , use a cream with urea and lactid acid , and wash your body with a neutral soap, never never never use a soap with fragance or color a glycerin soap is really good and neutral
I have kp on my bum and back of my thighs. At times I get really annoyed and stressed about it, but I always end up reminding myself that it could be so much worse, & it's definitely in a spot where people can't notice. I have found using acne facewashes with glycolic acid or salicylic acid both seem to help a little bit. Shaving has always made it worse on my legs. Oh! Seasalt. I've noticed a huge difference after swimming in the ocean! But I haven't found a good way to wash with saltwater.
ive had it for years and at first it really bothered me but now i barley even notice its there. I mean i do exfoliate there more than the rest of my body but i really don't even find it to be an issue. i guess im just so used to it now. and both of my sisters had it and its gone now. Mine is slowly but surley getting a lot better. the bumps used to be really rough and now there barley there at all. i think honestly you just need to give it time. a lot of time. but time.
OH MY GOD THIS IS INCREDIBLE! I'VE BEEN TO MY DOCTOR AND EVEN A DERMATOLOGIST, THANK YOU FOR ACTUALLY KNOWING WHAT THE HELL IT IS!!! thank you so much
I have this really badly and I've really noticed it doesn't go away. It becomes better in the summer but right now it's very bad and super red. I also have it on my face (my cheeks) so people do notice it by me. But with me it becomes worse after shaving instead of better.
I've had KP for a long time so I've heard so many theories about what it is and how to treat it, 3 years ago I got the right treatment to diminish de appearance of it and control the itchiness it causes during hot months (in my case). I exfoliate KP areas 3 times a week with sugar and olive oil or crystalized honey, 3 times a week also I use a Lactic Acid Cream just in the areas, and I mosturize only with thermal water. It's not gone but under control as never before.
I've had KP all my life. Originally my dermatologist gave me retin-a and another cream that did nothing. Shaving is not an option for me, as it's on my arms and a little on my back. I exfoliate when I remember to, but I use a cream by DermaDoctor called KP Duty. It works excellent. They sell it on sephora.com. It is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it.
I have it on my arms back and neck/chin... and its annoying because mine are purple and show up very easily... what's the best brand of cream or treatment for it???
I think I have it some places, like on my thighs? I don't really know, but the skin on my arms and legs is not smooth, it's a little bit bumpy where the hair sacks are. I don't know.
For me it is a big deal. I'm very pale and I have KP on my whole body except my chest and back. I have red dots everywhere, on my lower, upper arms, my butt, my legs... It's not itchy but really disgusting. And my cheeks are very red. My dermatologist said it will go away with time, but I'm already over 30 and I still have it.
i found exfoliating with exfoliating gloves with a good moisturizing body wash helps, and lots of lotion with jojoba oil, also make your shower luke warm, hot water can make them look more red
Both of my children have it. My son who is 8 has had it since birth on both sides of his face. My daughter who is 12 has it on the backs of her arms. We have not found anything that really helps. We apply moisture to the areas that helps with the redness but as far as the bumps themselves they never get any better. :(
OMG, I am never unsubscribing to you no matter how many makeup tutorials you do!!!! I started getting this a little over a month ago just above my elbow. Just thank you for posting this!
Cant belive I never looked it up. I have KP and I've hade it seens I was 13. I didnt know what it was, but I thought it was normal seens both my mom and my older sister hade it. Mine used to be very dry and red. I used to scratch my self on the arms all the time to make it go away, but it sometimes got worse. Then I just stoped scratching and now its much better. I still have it and I'm 19 years old. But I know its not gonna be there forever, I hope I'm as lucky as my mom(sorry for my english)
Thanks to you I just found out that I have KP!! I had noticed that I have bumps that look like acne, but when I picked on them (yeah, I know, dumb) nothing really came out, like it does when it's acne. I've noticed that not having many dairy products has improved it a bit (although it wasn't very dramatic to start with, just annoying wondering what it was), just like it has improved my small bout of acne. So I'll take better care of it now that I know what it is.
i have it on my arms but i just thought it was dry skin i didnt know it could be something big..
mine is very very mild, its not red or noticable at all.. it just doesnt feel baby bottom smooth i gues..
i have it on my face on my cheeks aswell but expholiating gets rid of it complitley so to be honest if you expholiate and moisturise for a long period of time it wwill eventually go, thats if its not too bad.. because thats what ive experienced! anyway thanks for the video :)
I actually think I have this on my face too because there are little bumps on my face that have been there forever and medicated acne stuff does nothing to clear them!
I guess I have it on my upper arms but it's not very noticeable. My upper arms have little bumpies on them and when I exfoliate (especially in the winter) they usually get red and very itchy.
i have it down the back of my thighs, it's not really a big deal and i don't think anyone would notice apart from me, it just looks/feels exactly like the rest of my skin does when it has goosebumps. exfoliating and moisturising really helps, and i shave my legs anyway!
my sister has this! i never knew what it was. everytime i looked at her arm, it bothered me. lol. and i have eczema... hm... weird how i don't have it
I have KP bumps on my arms and as a teenager it has stopped me from wearing cute shirts and dresses and I'm just really happy that you addressed it. Thankyou. Love talkin' tuesdays, I always feel they'll be important to someone and look, today it was me!
i didnt know what i had on my arms was called let alone know it was something other than acne ! thankyou this was VERY informative now i can try to do some things about it !
Seriously, it's weird...i don't mean this in a bad way at all and i think most of you will agree with me: many of you , Americans , tend to have a very hard time spelling words you don't know! You don't seem to bother taking syllable by syllable and try pronouncing it. I've noticed it both in videos and when i lived there! I DON'T mean pronouncing it wrong , like saying 'fem' instead of "fam"(for the french word femme),that's logical if it's not your language. But 'kitosis' instead of 'keratosis'
@1LeiaPrincess I agree that she should've actually learned its name before making a video on it, but stereotyping mispronounced/misspelled words as an "American" thing is just ignorant.
@1LeiaPrincess latin words are the route for portuguese language etc...french people speek very bad portuguese as well!!and the route is the same...why are you saying that. I bet that listening you speeking english will be as bad as her latin words....
@taniesro your comment doesn't make any sense. I don't understand what you are trying to say! And the medical term is of Greek origin, not Latin by the way.
@taniesro Of course, everyone has difficulties in a language he doesn't know! I never said people HAD to know how it's pronounced correctly! What i said is that often times Americans don't even try! They skip syllables or change them..they don't take the word letter by letter and try! They don't bother. I don't expect them to know how to read Greek,Russian or Korean, but if it's a Latin based language at least make an effort!
@1LeiaPrincess yes is true...and I believe american people don't bother in knowing things wich are from outside of their country. They have a lack of culture that hurts!!
I have kp on my arms and I didn't realize but I knew it was there I just didn't think it was the same thing but it's on my legs too, exfoliating really helps the bumps go away but there is scarring but it always comes back if you don't do it daily
I have kp on my leg bc I didn't use shaving cream in the past...then some appeared on the side of my arms...euk I hate having kp. I could never wear shorts bc I feel self conscious about them. Hopefully I can have smoother skin in the future.
I've had kp for a while and it was incerdibly embarrassing because I lived in a hot climate and couldn't wear long sleeves. My dermatologist prescribed retin-a and my skin got smooth but so red and irritated!even with a smaller dose it was still the same.it's very frustrating. so i'm going to try some oils and see if that helps. Thanks for the video!
I've had KP since I was a child and what has really helped me is exfoliating. I've also used medication to help clean the gall bladder which significantly helped clear my arms as well. Some days are better than others but exfoliating is the best thing you can do!
Can you do a video talking about keratin treatment and your experience with it cause you mentioned it in one of your videos and I wanted to know more about it before I get it done.
I actually only just realised that I have this condition after feeling my arms. LOL. Doesn't really bother me though as it's not doing any harm. I suppose if it really bothers you then wear longer tops or jackets. :) Thanks for the video hun. :)
This video was neat to learn about and I never heard of it before. Do you have tips on breast acne tips, treatment, dealing with it. Can you also do a eyebrow manicure video

Can you do a video on ingrown hair please??
sucker35 1 month ago

Do u hve any suggestions for the scaring & little leftover bumps?
mdaayrit 1 month ago

horsefly951 1 month ago 6
@horsefly951 when youre showering, try closing any windows you have in your bathroom. when you shave over goosebumps it can cause those bumps
HayleyAndRandom 2 weeks ago

Hi! I have kp on the back of my arms and I used to was very annoyed about it. Now I usually forget that I have it because it got a lot better. My advice is just to moisturise a lot. It worked for me:) Or maybe you could try baby oil and massage with it if you have that kind of issue.

i have kp , the best thing to do is exfoliating with natural products like sugar, olive oil and sea salt too , other thing that helps i going to be beach , trust me the salt water helps a lot , use a cream with urea and lactid acid , and wash your body with a neutral soap, never never never use a soap with fragance or color a glycerin soap is really good and neutral
rocio18beautytips 1 month ago

Mine is slowly but surley getting a lot better. the bumps used to be really rough and now there barley there at all. i think honestly you just need to give it time. a lot of time. but time.

It's not gone but under control as never before.
ceciliacamachoc 1 month ago
I've had KP all my life. Originally my dermatologist gave me retin-a and another cream that did nothing. Shaving is not an option for me, as it's on my arms and a little on my back. I exfoliate when I remember to, but I use a cream by DermaDoctor called KP Duty. It works excellent. They sell it on sephora.com. It is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it.

For me it is a big deal. I'm very pale and I have KP on my whole body except my chest and back. I have red dots everywhere, on my lower, upper arms, my butt, my legs... Both of my children have it. My son who is 8 has had it since birth on both sides of his face. My daughter who is 12 has it on the backs of her arms. We have not found anything that really helps. We apply moisture to the areas that helps with the redness but as far as the bumps themselves they never get any better. :(

Thank you!!!xxx

Seriously, it's weird...i don't mean this in a bad way at all and i think most of you will agree with me: many of you , Americans , tend to have a very hard time spelling words you don't know! You don't seem to bother taking syllable by syllable and try pronouncing it. I've noticed it both in videos and when i lived there! I DON'T mean pronouncing it wrong , like saying 'fem' instead of "fam"(for the french word femme),that's logical if it's not your language. But 'kitosis' instead of 'keratosis'

@1LeiaPrincess I agree that she should've actually learned its name before making a video on it, but stereotyping mispronounced/misspelled words as an "American" thing is just ignorant.
midnitemask 1 month ago 2
@midnitemask I said "many" Americans tend to do that, i didn't say "all" Americans nor that it's an exclusively American thing.
1LeiaPrincess 1 month ago
@1LeiaPrincess latin words are the route for portuguese language etc...french people speek very bad portuguese as well!!and the route is the same...why are you saying that. I bet that listening you speeking english will be as bad as her latin words....
taniesro 1 month ago
@taniesro your comment doesn't make any sense. I don't understand what you are trying to say! And the medical term is of Greek origin, not Latin by the way.
1LeiaPrincess 1 month ago
@1LeiaPrincess what I was trying to explain is that when we speek an other language and not native terms we have much more difficulties to do it so
taniesro 1 month ago
@taniesro Of course, everyone has difficulties in a language he doesn't know! I never said people HAD to know how it's pronounced correctly! What i said is that often times Americans don't even try! They skip syllables or change them..they don't take the word letter by letter and try! They don't bother. I don't expect them to know how to read Greek,Russian or Korean, but if it's a Latin based language at least make an effort!
1LeiaPrincess 1 month ago
@1LeiaPrincess yes is true...and I believe american people don't bother in knowing things wich are from outside of their country. They have a lack of culture that hurts!!
