  • I worked that train!!! That very same train - thanks for posting - I was a coach attendant on that train

  • The reason why this one was a superliner was that we were late getting into CHI -- about 8 hours late cos of a huge storm in NYP - Chicago crews ran the train to Toledo or Sandusky and we took over our train from there -- we changed equipment in Albany -- working this train was fun!

  • i would have loved to catch that

  • i'm pretty sure they will. last year the private car train ran thru there and the dome cars fit but just barely.

  • This train came from Chicago so, it didn't go through Excahange St. I would guess they could based on that since the Superliners are only a little bit taller than the engines and the engines obviously fit.

  • The Lake Shore Limited does not go to Buffalo Exchange St. After the Buffalo Depew station to goes to Erie, PA than through Chicago.

  • When and why did the Lakes Shore Limited run with Superliners?

  • Due to frozen and broken equipment, they had to use Superliners to get the LSL back on schedule. So, when the regular set arrived into Chicago, they would have more than a couple of minutes essentially to turn and maintainence the set.

  • that's essentially what happened -- mainly because of our lateness -- instead of going to the hotel for downtime, we went right across the platform to the superliner -- we had our downtime onboard while CHI crews took it to Ohio where we took over

  • The Boston section is always a separate train anyway. Usually, one unit, baggage, food car and 2-3 coaches.

  • How did they do the Boston Train

  • I wonder what happened at Syracuse and all stops between Albany and NYC since those stations have high level platforms.

  • They did a crew stop at Syracuse then did a 2nd and 3rd stop for coach and sleeper passengers. At Albany, they had a regular corridor train waiting and everyone just switched trains there. At both high-level stations the platform has a ramp leading to a lower level platform.
