I know it's difficult to live without basic items but honestly I would advocate for a boycott over a protest. I know it's not that easy, but throughout history people have had to fight harder and endure much worse for the sake of personal freedoms. This is not just occupy wall street this has become a nationwide pheonomena. The big businesses have money because the masses give them money. I garuntee if everyone in the movement decided to systematically boycott products we would see change faster

If people are so concerned with bringing down the 1% why don't they stop giving them money? Huge corporations like 3M and Unilever distribute mundane items like tape and soap yet their CEO's are millionares. Instead of handing your money to corporations then demanding a redistribution of their wealth (essentially free products) why not spend your money to support smaller companies, create your own products or boycott large companies? This isn't a rhetorical question, I am genuinly curious.

@alizadberk If you noticed what the Occupy Wallstreet protesters have been saying all along, then you'd know that *no one* is asking for redistribution of wealth (though the idea does seem attractive). The protesters are simply asking for an end to corporate greed and they are using the 1% thing as a case in point. As for your question, it's becoming more and more difficult to support the smaller companies when the big ones crush them, buys them or squeezes them out.

Despite the fact that some might disagree, we still are in a recession. Unemployment rate has hit a record high and at this rate the middle class is getting close to disappearing. So they need to buy cheaper food, clothing, etc.. That's why it's harder to support the smaller companies. Because the big ones are holding people financially hostage.
A young entrepreneur like Steve Jobs, for example, couldn't go to the banks today and ask to borrow money. Don't believe me? Go to the banks and see.
