Where was goal line technology when you need it! Either it's a penalty or a goal, but the US had other chances to score. I was heartbroken when we lost this, but Germany is (and always will be) a soccer powerhouse and we played them until the end. Overall great match!

Is it natural to have your arms spread as if he were doing jumping jacks? If there was a fifth referee like there is now in 2002, there would have been a P.K. Donovan rarely misses.

It's only a handball if the player deliberately moves his arm and intercepts the ball while doing so (even if he doesn't meant to actually touch the ball with it). For anyone claiming Fring's handball was not intentional and therefore not a P.K., watch the full highlight reel. Specifically watch one with slow motion replay. You will see Frings move his arm out into a completely un-natural position. Think about it, Frings was gaurding the far post on a Corner Kick. Is it natural to have your arms spread as if he were doing jumping jacks? If there was a fifth referee like there is now in 2002, there would have been a P.K. Donovan rarely misses.

My prediction for the 2014 World Cup, Brazil versus Germany in the finals! And I'd be rooting for Germany! but I just want to point out, Charlie Davies is back, and this means US is no longer reliant on the midfield to score, and as this sport is getting more popular here in the US, I won't be shocked if us Americans surprise the world with a placement like 3rd once again. The US has also qualified for 9 World Cups, that's more appearances than Porugal, whose first WC appearance was in 1966. @Datolo551 the win was cheap because the ball crosses the line if the defender doesn't swat the ball with his hands. that's called cheating, and therefore the win was as cheap as it gets. it's ok, Americans understand that the world hates us and is scared of us ever getting good at soccer lest we win every world cup for the next 80 years given our domination in the olympics and our obsession with sports. the USA will be there someday, at the top, enjoy winning while you can, it won't last.

Look for a longer highlight of the game, there was also in this same game a legitimate penalty for Germany denied and several tackles from behind from Americans who could have been sent off.

@Jaylalalooni It's definitely not a penalty. His hand was already there, in a perfectly natural position. It's only a handball if the player deliberately moves his arm and intercepts the ball while doing so (even if he doesn't meant to actually touch the ball with it). If it hits his hand when it's in a normal position, it wasn't his fault, so there is no foul.
