In my personal opinion, religion shouldn't be about people, it should be about faith.

When people are violent or intolerant in the name of their religion, I feel that they are doing their faith, and those who share it, a great injustice.

Religion can be positive, as it gives you faith to overcome your hardships and holds you until the very end, helping tou face the ultimate fear, death, eternal dissapearance.

However it can be negative in the wrong hands, as it happens today with Catholicism and Christianism, people leading this religions twisted them to exploit people's ignorance and fears, seeding hate in their hearts and segregating society, betaying and killing their own precepts.

A cigarette has no positive effect on the body, the reason smoking feels good to a smoker that they've grown dependent on it and without the nicotine that there body now needs they experience withdrawal, People without religion don't need to combat the problems it creates and are better for it. Religion is always damaging because it prevents people from using the time they have to its fullest and give people false hope.

Religion was born from human desire to explain the unexplainable. Of course, back to the age of the ancient cultures, this unexplained stuff was nature (The rain, the sun, the crops, etc).

Later, the Hebrew religion was born, based more on the afterlife aspect. It's a religion based upon the fear of death.

It was the Roman empire that instituted Catholicism in an effort to control and subdue the masses through the, back then, popular teachings of Jesus.
