Pomona College is a Claremont College, located in Claremont CA, which is one of the top ten places to live in the United States. Pomona, CA is a slum but Pomona College is not named after that city. It is named after the goddess, Pomona.

The College was founded in 1887 in Pomona, California by a group of Congregationalists and moved to Claremont in 1889 to the site of a donated hotel; its name remained the same. so yeah it was named after the city and the city was named after the goddess

I used to lookup to the place because they claim to be need-blind (though in reality less than 10% of the students on campus are from low-income backgrounds) but now I can only feel.. I've associated with Pomona students, most are middle-upper-class preppies and bigots. Than again I suppose this is true for most students at any college now-a-days. Mommy and Danny money.

@jfly227 Actually Claremont was originally part of Pomona. Pomona got its name from the goddess as well. Its been around since before California was part of the United States.
