Has your 0-60 time changed much with that? If you really want a noise from that car, Vortech makes some really good SuperChargers for it. Nothing quite like a SuperCharger howl as it screams down a road with a beefed up 290 hp and 294 ft lbs of torque (some Vortech systems take it up to 330 hp).
@stewey08m Yes I have, I've also bolted on a Borla exhaust system and it has a really cool unique sound. I have a video of it, but I haven't posted it yet, I'll get on it soon... The MRT is loud, very in your face mustang sound. My family can hear my coming home about 45 seconds before I pull in the driveway, through my house... That kinda loud. But it's not completely annoying to the driver. Under 55mph, and it's not noticeable, over 55, it can be. Borla is more of a soft growl,
It's not nearly as loud but it has deep V8 grumble. Each are great systems, I would recommend them both, but it's up to you which one will work best for you. Even though I've only tried these 2 on my car, I've heard many other set-ups in person also. JBA, Magnaflow, SLP all make exhausts for this car. Good luck!
@karlriggs Yea i was trying to decide between the Borla and the MRT. The good thing about the MRT is that it is nearly half of the price. I am also going for something that is loud, so i guess based on your description the MRT would be the better choice since you said the Borla is a little softer.
@stewey08m I would definitely like to listen to the Borla exhaust when you put that video up. One last thing the MRT sounds as the video in person? I would hate for my mustang to start sounding like some sort of Lawnmower. Haha
@TheBlaze87 Well, duals look great, but for the 05 V6, they actually make you lose HP, because it reduces the back pressure the engine needs. It's miniscule, like 2-3 HP loss, but when compared to this exhaust with a 10HP gain, I'll take a single exit :D But I'll look into some headers.... Thanks for the tip.
No problem, don't blame ya at all there, if that's the case I'd go single on a v6 too, anything positive in hp is good. Headers will get you at least another 10-15 at the rear wheels and it'll have a nice deep throatier tone, not that it doesn't sound good now but headers will def help your cause. You dyno that thing or run it at a track at all?
Not really, it may sound raspy if you REALLY rev it during a cold start, but most exhausts will act like that anyway. Normal driving the exhaust sounds great.
hey i was thinkin bout buyin v6 05 mustang but it got 73k on it how many miles does yours hav and how it run now? and how much for exhaust please reply thanx
I'm a student, so I don't drive it as much, it's an 05' with 40k miles on it, so it's still driving just fine. The exhaust was $250 from mrt-direct, just google it, and you'll find them.
im thinking of getting this or the SLP power-flo... did u mod the engine or anything else, like a new intake? new headers or pipes? or did you just slap on that MRT? because if all you did was put that new exhaust on...its sounds damn good.
Nope, this just a simple bolt on. I think I did have a K&N filter on there, but I doubt that will change the sound at all, haha. I'd highly recommend it, it sounds great, but I do warn you, there is a small amount of drone. I took care of that with some sound deadening material in the trunk. But good luck, I know you'll like either one.
hey, it sounds great! i'm seriously considering about getting this for my '06 v6 conv. By the way, where did you find that GTgrille?! I know you have the V6 bumper on there, but that GT grille looks great!
Thanks, I appreciate the comments. I got the grille from a local Ford Dealer, it was easier than purchasing it online, at about the same cost. The harder part was getting the wiring and switching, that is more difficult.
I bought this same pipe just based on this video, and I am not disappointed at all. I thought this was the best sounding pipe that I had heard and I was right. The sound in the video sounds good, but nothing compared to hearing it in person.
BTW, did your pipe bolt right up or did you have to bend the hangers to make it not touch the bumper? I even had to expand the inlet pipe to make it fit.
Mhmm, I agree, the MRT has a very unique sound to it.
My exhaust bolted up just fine, although I had to do some minor adjustments to make sure it wasn't touching the rear bumper. Nothing a good hammer couldn't bend right, lol.
I got the fogs and grille from the parts division of a local dealership. Mind you the GT Grille wont fit in a V6 front fascia without some modification, so be forewarned. You'll also need a wiring harness, which you can purchase at a number of places online.
Well, there are other mods to the car, light fog lights, and push button start, etc, but nothing to do with then engine, or any of the piping. Just an MRT axle-back. Thanks for praise!
Hey Great Video. I have a 05 V6 Red Mustang just like that one with the GT Fog lights. I put on the same MRT Aero turbine exhaust system. It is by far the best sounding V6 mustang out there, as you have shown. No other exhaust system can compare. Someone showed a dyno chart of this exhaust adding peak 15 hp!
Again, great video. Thats what all V6 mustangs should sound like!
Thanks mbell, I definitely agree, this is an amazing car, and with the MRT exhaust, it sounds so much better. I've had people come up to me while autocrossing and ask me if that was a V6 or V8, and when you say V6 they just stare.... and then smirk as they realize how cool it sounds :D I've also heard of 15 rwhp, but I think the most common numbers are between 7-10, which is still remarkable.
damn dude that sounds raw as hell good job how much did all that cost i have a v6 05 musatng and i wanna put some on there can u put dual excaust on it would that make it sound better?
Lol, I wish! A good turbo and intercooler will run you at least 5K and then you want a good solid dyno and tune which will add another chunk. If you'd like to donate one to me, I'd be happy to take one! :D
Yes, it's louder than the stock, which is why I got it in the first place. But honestly, it's not that loud at all. The interior noise is perfect, while still having a nice loud grumble on the outside. Besides, it's all personal preference anyway.
SWEET!! i got a v6 mustang also and i was wondering if u could send me the full specs of the kit, how much it cost you & where did u get it?(P.S. i have a video of my white 2005 v6 mustang on my profile, check it out)
Haha, well I meant low cost in comparison to the GT Convert which is easily 35,000. By no means is this car cheap, but compared to it's upper model, the GT, it's considerably cheaper. Hence the 'cheap' tag.
Well, I meant the GT Convertible. It's really popular over here, in MI, and even more i'd assume in the warmer states. But yes, if your comparing stock V6 to stock V8 it is about 5K difference. The convertible adds a considerable amount of money ontop, so, when you compare my car, a stock V6 to a convertible GT, you're looking at a 13-14K difference. So I consider the V6 a cheap car. Sorry if I was misunderstanding.
Yeah I know what you mean now. The GT Convertibles not only are hard to find but are overpriced when compared to other convertible price jumps from their hard-top counterparts. I wouldn't want a convertible anyways, it takes away from the styling and speed of the car.
Ah, mk. See I live 40 minutes away from Flat Rock, which is where they make the Mustang, so there are a ton of them over here, and the price isn't marked over sticker, thankfully. I think the convertibles have their purpose, if your in warm nice weather and like the top down. But I agree, I think the hard-top does look much better, and plus, you don't need a roll-bar in a hard top to race in the SCCA Solo II's :D
sounds good, i have a 08 4.0, sitting in the other room i have JBA shorty headers, JBA H pipe and mid pipes, with 2 MRT aeroturbines...hopefully in about 2 weeks it will all be in
That's awesome. That set-up will sound really good. JBA makes some amazing headers and pipes, a great choice. Then with the added H pipe you should get a nice growl from the MRT's. Some people say they are too high pitched, so I think with the H pipe it should be great. Let me know it turns out.
because were as I am 18 years old and can flex under the car, the person who was checking all of my work was 50 and doesn't have that much mobility. plus, when the car is jacked up, you can much easier look at your work and make sure its done properly. The same goes for the wheel, since the pipe goes right past the right rear wheel, it makes working 10x easier to just take it off.
I got the aeroturbine. And the price is still the same, you might have been looking at the GT one. The V6 single exhaust is still 225. They don't have a pict on their website of the single, but if you look at the GT double and just imagine one and that's the same thing.
It is very easy to install it. It took me about 2 hours and most of it was just making sure everything fit alright. All you really need is a car jack, but if you have a lift it will obvious make things even easier. You need some simple tools ( i don't remember which, it's been almost a year and a half) but it's really easy. Oh and you don't have to take off the right rear tire, but it makes things easier to work around.
I'm pretty sure it did. It's been awhile but I think it came with like a sheet for how to install. It was extremely easy though, so even if it didn't come with it, you would be able to figure it out. Goodluck!
I got my MRT AeroTurbine back in June after scouring YouTube and the internet for a single after-market muffler for my car. It was this video that persuaded me to go for the MRT. So yeah, thanks, Karl. =) Of course I'd prefer a dual setup with a milder exhaust (Maybe the JBA), but for a single this one has sound you can't beat.
Your welcome! Over time the sound will get much better, and you'll absolutely love it. If you don't there are many other exhausts out there to choose from and there is definitely one out there for ya.
Haha, yes well, that's what you get when you send a 4.0L V6 into one pipe compared to a 4.6 L V8 into 2. The V6 is a great car, it's got the style and power and the price is great. The new platform makes the quality much greater than the previous mustang and it's all-around a great car.
Mhmm, I agree, I took it off once just to see what it was like, and it just doesn't feel like a mustang without an exhaust on it. Glad to hear you like it
Haha, I dunno, I like the drone. Keeps me awake while I'm driving.
Just wanted to say thanks for posting this vid Karl. I scoped out a ton of YouTube videos while scouting for a new muffler for my '07 'Stang (stock one sucks) and I liked the sound of the AeroTurbine the best. Cheers!
You're very welcome, I'm glad I could be of some help. I know when I was looking I just wanted all the videos and sound clips I could get. I hope this helps. And yes, there is a little drone but I've gotten used to it and I like it :D
mm yes, but there haven't been too many cases in which the resonators actually fit and work with our car *because of the axle-back design it's almost impossible to fit* and then ontop of that, if there is one that is small enough to fit, it isn't going to be as effective...
Actually, I threw in a Dynomax bullet muffler right after the balancer thing after the Y-pipe, and it's de-droned the Aeroturbine massively. Still preserves 90% of the WOT scream too :)
im thinkin bout gettin this for my 05 v6 mustang. im takin a look at the website were they sell the exhaust exactly like this one, is there any cutting, welding, or anything major that needs to be done to put it on?
Drone is mild, but at some RPM's it can be very annoying. I've lived with it for a year and it isn't THAT bad. But I did but in some dynamat, or sound deadoning material, and that really helped. In 4th and 5th drone is very minimal but if you go past 80 mph drone is bad. I.E. just don't speed :D
Well because the system for the GT is INCREDIBLY loud, i would strongly not recommend it. Not to mention there is a considerable amount of drone from the system too. Though, it is all personal preference.
Well, if you want something that is a little bit louder than stock, I'd go with flowmasters. They have good HP gains and a good sound. If money were not an issue, I would highly recommend the Borla system for a GT. It's loud enough to make people turn their heads, but quiet enough so you can carry on a conversation in the car.
It has a nice deep grumble that you have to hear in person. Other than that, you have SLP Loudmouths, which as its name says is really loud. And finally there is Magnaflow, they have good products, they have a good sound, but they are expensive. All in all, I'd go with Borla. Goodluck
Well you can get either the mufflers or the entire system... The mufflers just gives you the sound you want. But the system gives you the sound and a nice stainless steel exhaust system. I.E. no corrosion whatsoever. Some people believe that an entirte system gets rid of drone, but I think it's personal opinion
ok so im thinking of getting a Mustang very similar to this one, either an 05' or 06' V6 as my first car. what do you reccomend.?? the exaust system n muffler you have on yours. if so i was gonna ask you some stuff about it. price wise and maybe a few other things. but maybe there is something else you would suggest??? sounds great by the way
The MRT will gain 5-10 HP, for a V6 it's the best HP gaining exhaust system out there. This is because it's less restrictive than the stock exhaust. I really noticed a difference in performance, obviously not anything MAJOR, but a good gain from an exhaust.
Sorry, I don't know a lot about 03' and 04' mustangs. I just got into the mustang world with the 05' so im still learning. Though, there are a lot of forums that can easily answer that question. I belong to 40collective (for V6 mustangs) and mustangforums (another good website. I recommend them both.
A definite change in HP, I'd say around 5 HP, it's small but cheap! Mmm, fuel milage.. it probably went up, but because I want to hear the exhaust more, I got a heavier lead foot. :D So... even though it may save you gas mileage..... you lose it when you get the 'lead foot' urges :)
Cool, thanks for the info. I tell you, for a V6 single pipe, that is pretty impressive exhaust sound, I have watched/listened to it about a dozen times already. I need an IPOD that can download exhaust clips, lol I am sad I know.
It cost me around 400, this is because I wanted to keep everything simple and easy so I purchased the fogs and grille right from ford, and also the GT switch. I configured my own wiring harness but now you can buy a good one on the net for 100-
i just bought a brand new mustang V6! and i was thinking in buying an exaust system ! but have no idea in what to buy !! what exacly do you have in there !!
I had a 2005 V6 and traded for a 2006 GT. I wish I had the V6 back. That 4.0L was a lifetime motor and I did not feel like I had to show off to anyone.
hmm man i hv a 2005 v6 mustang too but i hv no idea if i want to put duals or something like this well how much does this kit go for well get back to me on your opinion on wht i should do
Has your 0-60 time changed much with that? If you really want a noise from that car, Vortech makes some really good SuperChargers for it. Nothing quite like a SuperCharger howl as it screams down a road with a beefed up 290 hp and 294 ft lbs of torque (some Vortech systems take it up to 330 hp).

The MRT exhaust feels like it's 3/4 of the car, lol. It's just not the same without that sound.
robf93 4 years ago
Mhmm, I agree, I took it off once just to see what it was like, and it just doesn't feel like a mustang without an exhaust on it. Glad to hear you like it

Haha, I dunno, I like the drone. Keeps me awake while I'm driving.
Just wanted to say thanks for posting this vid Karl. I scoped out a ton of YouTube videos while scouting for a new muffler for my '07 'Stang (stock one sucks) and I liked the sound of the AeroTurbine the best. Cheers!
robf93 4 years ago
You're very welcome, I'm glad I could be of some help. I know when I was looking I just wanted all the videos and sound clips I could get. I hope this helps. And yes, there is a little drone but I've gotten used to it and I like it :D
karlriggs 4 years ago
tats not bad if drone is too bad they do sell resonators which cut it down considerably.
Defconfx 4 years ago
mm yes, but there haven't been too many cases in which the resonators actually fit and work with our car *because of the axle-back design it's almost impossible to fit* and then ontop of that, if there is one that is small enough to fit, it isn't going to be as effective...
karlriggs 4 years ago
Actually, I threw in a Dynomax bullet muffler right after the balancer thing after the Y-pipe, and it's de-droned the Aeroturbine massively. Still preserves 90% of the WOT scream too :)
werwolf23 4 years ago
really? so this is an anti-drone after the y-pipe? Wow, I'll have to check it out. Thanks
karlriggs 4 years ago
When you said without exhaust was that without a muffler or without anything from the engine back? Please message me.
BadAssEmily 4 years ago
When I said no exhaust that was no muffler, all it was, was headers, and cats. That's all.
karlriggs 4 years ago
im thinkin bout gettin this for my 05 v6 mustang. im takin a look at the website were they sell the exhaust exactly like this one, is there any cutting, welding, or anything major that needs to be done to put it on?
jofus21187 4 years ago
Nope, really easy! it took 30 min for me, really simple tools and it fits just about perfect.
karlriggs 4 years ago
How much drone is there and like whats the sound level in 4th and 5th gear? Id like to have a tough sound that is very mild at cruising speeds..
Thanks
rf40928 4 years ago
Drone is mild, but at some RPM's it can be very annoying. I've lived with it for a year and it isn't THAT bad. But I did but in some dynamat, or sound deadoning material, and that really helped. In 4th and 5th drone is very minimal but if you go past 80 mph drone is bad. I.E. just don't speed :D

if you interested in sound why not go for the v8? check my videos i got one videos startup of the v8 ... i got drivebys but i need to upload =\
elul21 4 years ago
Eh, i'd love to have a V8, but im in college, and the insurance that comes with it is above my head...
karlriggs 4 years ago
how much it cost you? is it just a tip?
jofus21187 4 years ago
Nope, full system, from MRT, it cost 250-, and i installed myself. I would highly recommend for a V6.... not so much for a GT
karlriggs 4 years ago
why not for the GT?
GameOver88 4 years ago
Well because the system for the GT is INCREDIBLY loud, i would strongly not recommend it. Not to mention there is a considerable amount of drone from the system too. Though, it is all personal preference.
karlriggs 4 years ago
which exhuasts would u recommend for the GT then?
GameOver88 4 years ago
Well, if you want something that is a little bit louder than stock, I'd go with flowmasters. They have good HP gains and a good sound. If money were not an issue, I would highly recommend the Borla system for a GT. It's loud enough to make people turn their heads, but quiet enough so you can carry on a conversation in the car.
karlriggs 4 years ago
It has a nice deep grumble that you have to hear in person. Other than that, you have SLP Loudmouths, which as its name says is really loud. And finally there is Magnaflow, they have good products, they have a good sound, but they are expensive. All in all, I'd go with Borla. Goodluck
karlriggs 4 years ago
ight man thanks...but wait should i get the stingers or the one with the mufflers?
GameOver88 4 years ago
Well you can get either the mufflers or the entire system... The mufflers just gives you the sound you want. But the system gives you the sound and a nice stainless steel exhaust system. I.E. no corrosion whatsoever. Some people believe that an entirte system gets rid of drone, but I think it's personal opinion
karlriggs 4 years ago
ok so im thinking of getting a Mustang very similar to this one, either an 05' or 06' V6 as my first car. what do you reccomend.?? the exaust system n muffler you have on yours. if so i was gonna ask you some stuff about it. price wise and maybe a few other things. but maybe there is something else you would suggest??? sounds great by the way
Sunfirebt 4 years ago
Well, I think all exhaust systems are good, but from my personal best to worst is....
1. MRT Aeroturbine - $250 **single exit**
2. Pypes System - $300-400 **dual exit**
3. Flowmasters - $250 **single exit**
4. Magnaflow - $250 **single exit**
Keep in mind, most dual exit systems for a V6 are poor, and you lose HP, if you want duals go with Pypes, goodluck
karlriggs 4 years ago
will the MRT gain or loose HP?? cuz that is what i have been looking at for the most part
Sunfirebt 4 years ago
The MRT will gain 5-10 HP, for a V6 it's the best HP gaining exhaust system out there. This is because it's less restrictive than the stock exhaust. I really noticed a difference in performance, obviously not anything MAJOR, but a good gain from an exhaust.
karlriggs 4 years ago
ok thanks man. youve been a ton of help!
Sunfirebt 4 years ago
Yep, no problem, I'm glad I can be of some help :)
karlriggs 4 years ago
hey, do you have any suggestions for a 2003 or 2004 mustang. what would be the best to put on it ???
Sunfirebt 4 years ago
Sorry, I don't know a lot about 03' and 04' mustangs. I just got into the mustang world with the 05' so im still learning. Though, there are a lot of forums that can easily answer that question. I belong to 40collective (for V6 mustangs) and mustangforums (another good website. I recommend them both.
karlriggs 4 years ago
have you noticed any change in your fuel mileage as well as a change in your horse power with this new exhaust kit or just a change in horse power
autorat67 4 years ago
A definite change in HP, I'd say around 5 HP, it's small but cheap! Mmm, fuel milage.. it probably went up, but because I want to hear the exhaust more, I got a heavier lead foot. :D So... even though it may save you gas mileage..... you lose it when you get the 'lead foot' urges :)

BTW love the cheering thing at the end, wife said it was something she said I would do.
XxStang2007xX 4 years ago
Cool, thanks for the info. I tell you, for a V6 single pipe, that is pretty impressive exhaust sound, I have watched/listened to it about a dozen times already. I need an IPOD that can download exhaust clips, lol I am sad I know.
XxStang2007xX 4 years ago
I noticed you had the GT fog lights, what did it cost to add those? I didn't even know you add those to the V6.
XxStang2007xX 4 years ago
It cost me around 400, this is because I wanted to keep everything simple and easy so I purchased the fogs and grille right from ford, and also the GT switch. I configured my own wiring harness but now you can buy a good one on the net for 100-
karlriggs 4 years ago
nice 20sec car
skylineracea09 4 years ago
This is how you do an exhaust video. from now on anyone who posts an exhaust video WITHOUT a before sound should be banned.

KawaiiTwins 5 years ago
I had a 2005 V6 and traded for a 2006 GT. I wish I had the V6 back. That 4.0L was a lifetime motor and I did not feel like I had to show off to anyone.
