  • Referring to the "addiction" banter below, plant based hallucinogens are non-habit forming; any exploration into the world of ayahuasca or mushrooms will attest to that. In fact, the experience creates a space for us to look at all the addictions we DO have, such as alcohol or nicotine abuse, addictions to fear, guilt, shame, desperation and so on.

  • Part 7: This video doesn't have anything to do with drugs, and neither do a lot of his video's, but i wont say he doesn't talk about drugs, seems to be a huge influence of his. And the stoned ape theory is, regardless of your thought on it, a fleshed out theory, its not like he just said, MONKEYS GEO HIGH. he really knows the subject matter, or at least he comes off as though he does. You can make anything sound bad by being condescending towards it like you are, but I wager you cant disprove it

  • Part 6: I wont say that Mckenna did not use alot of psychedelia, however I still don't think you have given any reason for anyone to believe that he was "obsessed," in any way, and in fact, I think what I had stated previously about his ability to hold conversation for hours, on all different topics are signs that he wasn't quite obsessed with anything but perhaps... talking? but I don't know if you should call a person a talking addict. Why is it amazing he didnt end up homeless?

  • Part 5: I have been to a homeless shelter in Boston to watch my father play music for them, and although I didn't speak with them, their demeanor, both viscerally, and in conversations that I had seen and overheard second hand, had not shown any resemblance to that of Mckenna's talks. I am not saying that they were or weren't "addicts," but since you feel so inclined to thinking their are connections between not only addicts and the homeless people, but also homeless addicts and Mckenna...

  • Part 4: "you seem to live a sheltered existence." Well thanks for the ad-hominem attack, not much I can say to sway a conclusion like this, you have based your statement on absolutely no evidence what so ever. Also Its a bit strange for you to call me an addict earlier, and then make the conclusion that addicts are somehow connected to homelessness. You would have to be pretty dense not to understand these extremely contradictory implications you have brought into fruition here.....

  • Part 3: "A drug addicts life is consumed with taking drugs habitually, everyday, by whatever means possible." I do not renounce this statement in any way, however I do have to wonder how a person who's life is consumed by this could sit still and speak so eloquently on such a wide range of topics, for hours on end without their fix, perhaps you could say it wasn't available but that wouldn't make much sense considering your thoughts on his "problem." As for the video I'll check it out fr sure.

  • Part 2: I wont disagree that a drug addict would claim that a drug altering substance is "the answer," however you should point me to a place that Mckenna says this exsact statement, because I have only seen him remark that psychedelics are something that helps him , and may help others come to understand various different things, mostly the novelty of culture from my understanding. I once again have not told u that drugs are THE ANSWER, I said that "maybe" you should eat shrooms.

Stars 1and a half to 2 times the size of our sun are the ones that implode and become neutron stars. Our sun will become a red giant and expand way beyond the earth's orbit.

    Eventually it will shed its outer layer and become a white dwarf star.

    It was the first video I saw of Mckenna- the first words of his I heard- before I learned who he was. Listening to it more than once inspired me to listen him a whole lot more, which has only been awesome. He can be pretty far out, but anyway I encourage anyone to listen to what he has to say. But before he died he made sure that doctors from all over the world tested to see if his cannabis usage had any effect on his tumor and.. unfortunately for your point of view, it was in fact holding back the tumor that had being laying dormant in his brain for quite some time. The cannabis prolonged his life. But aside form all of that, you can't really be listening to what he has to say with such aggressive remarks like that.

Cannabis doesn't cause tumors. It doesn't cause cancer. FACT. "It is one of the safest substances known" (chief of medicine at Harvard) Please don't argue if you don't understand the facts. It's ignorant. The LD50 of cannabis is well over 40,000. It's impossible for it to negatively affect the brain/body complex.

Medicine and the treatment of illness is a barbaric practice at best. He died at age 53, a thought that is tragic, but I think it makes more sense now than ever to remember his teachings that he wanted so desperately to give , and while condoning the use of psychedelics and cannabis, never once seemed forceful in his language.   • @Shadow..Mckenna was a nice fella..soft spoken, well read BUT he was as addicted to mind altering drugs as one can get short of being homeless.He ingested everything he could get his hands on & in massive doses. It really is surprising he lasted as long as he did.Everything he talks about finds it's way back to taking mind altering drugs..all addicts are like that. My point, which you obviously missed was that Mckenna was obsessed with psychedelics & used heavy amounts on a regular basis. I think it was amazing that he didn't end up homeless. Everything he speaks about has to do with the use of drugs..e.g..Evolution in man? Cavemen were following bison and eating mushrooms that were growing out of the bison dung which expanded man's mind..o_O

    I used to be a huge fan of Terence McKenna's and I've listened to just about every piece of audio of Terence out there on the net. I don't believe he was an addict, in fact, he would even go as far as saying that psychedelics aren't addicting substances. He didn't use them on a regular basis, btw, his method was high doses, but taken rarely, like twice or thrice a year would be considered often. He was never at any point in his life homeless.

  • @InsideOUT37 Oh, sure, no I wouldn't say that Terence wasn't a heavy pot smoker, that's something he did admit using quite often, I was just saying that he didn't abuse the psychedelics. You see, the doses he advocated aren't what I'd call "recreational" or "fun." This is why he called it the "heroic dose." It's really a mission and will take every ounce of courage you have. That's what Terence did rarely, and he never went into it without a huge sense of sickening dread each time.

It's a fairly well known observable fact in the medical science community that THC helps in eliminating cancer cells, studies of THC for the treatment of cancer have also found the therapy to be well tolerated.   • @InsideOUT37 I didn't say cannabis was a cancer cure but it can play a role in tumor regression, according to a study THC was associated with reduced tumor cell proliferation in two of nine human subjects with brain cancer. So to even suggest that it was responsible for Mckenna death is idiotic when it's proven to be successful in some cases, not to mention that there is NO evidence whatsoever of adverse effects when implemented properly on cancer patients.

Even Mckenna ( he was a smart guy RIGHT? ) believed that his 35++ years of daily, heavy cannabis use lead to his death. Go read about how pot (THC) is a gateway drug, how it reduced major areas of the brain, causes schizophrenia, psychosis, testicular atrophy ( sound familiar ) , memory loss and a million other things..add pot to other drugs & you have a recipe for disaster..how dumb can you get. =/

  • @InsideOUT37 Most of what you have mentioned is really cliched and outdated rhetoric in propagating cannabis as a destructive plant. Researchers have found no increase in the rates of schizophrenia or psychosis with cannabis users, although it's been suggested that people that already exhibit schizophrenia are liable to have episodes under the influence of cannabis but it certainly isn't a cause.

    Take the example of Ibogaine in the treatment of addiction. It has fantastic potential but no interest by pharma.big business because the amount you need is minimal and they cannot generate the profits.

Ibogaine has successfully helped people give up many kinds of addictions, including heroin and Cocaine. Not only does Ibogaine help a person, who wants to give up drugs, to do so without withdrawal symptoms, but it seems to act by giving the person an intensive 30 or so hours of 'therapy'.

In the 50's LSD was the greatest new "invention" in the scientific community; scientists were patting themselves on the back for having created it, and it did not yet classify as illegal. One of these scientists was Francis Crick, who "saw" the double helix while in the drug-induced state.

  • @InsideOUT37 Most adverse effects on the brain (such as short term memory loss) caused by THC is easily reversible and there isn't much cause for alarm by the medical science community especially considering there are literally millions of cannabis users who smoke daily. Compared to alcohol and other pharmaceuticals it's obvious that cannabis is hardly a threat to the deterioration of health in fact it's been proven otherwise to be quite effective medicinally.

Medicine has helped to lift the standard of living for those that have suffered some sort of catastrophic incident but that is not what we are talking about here..the mind is extremely delicate and throwing mind altering substances( now synthetic ) of any kind at it will eventually lead to problems..GAURENTEED..those under the influence can't see the light till they stop poisoning themselves.

  • @InsideOUT37 Psychedelics don't cause chromosome damage nor are they neurotoxic to the brain. Generally, psychedelics are some of the safest drugs that you can use. Most connections to clinical problems are weak, but some are real and demand that close and continuous attention be paid to the possibility of it being an instrument of causality but the same can be said of any of the several new and well tested pharmaceutical agents that are introduced into medical practice every year.
