the tour just before this album came out - you were asked to text something to paul that would come up on a big screen above the stage, before paul came on
i just put 'do you remember the royal iris'? - to much of a coincidence thats its refered to in the lyrics of this song
That was him. In the Cavern, on Ed Sullivan, Sgt Pepper, Hey Jude, Let it Be, Ram, Wings Over the World, Mac and Jack and the man at the center of the best concerts in the world. That was him.And it's the same him that stands here now. Is there anybody more famous?
I'm not sure if I have room in my McCartney top ten favorite songs ever, but this might have squeezed in.
I used to wonder does he ever look back and think, That was me? Then this song showed up on "Memory Almost Full." :) Can't believe that eternally youthful voice is pushing 70. Love the "fake degree" line, and the desperation as he wrote in the basement to meet contractual songwriting obligations so early on.
How come no one has ever questioned the rising popularity of bad music on youtube. Paul deserves much more views than the holders of millions of views.
Excellent job. Now my friends can hear what I think is the album's best song. Thanks again. If "Memory Almost Full" doesn't get a bunch of Grammy nods, I'll be very disappointed.
To me this song is Paul's answer to the 'Paul is dead' rumors: "That was me, the same me that stands here now"

Stonking great song! Macca will still be pumping out great rock tunes when he's 140! this guy will live forever, and quite rightly too.
