  • Re: "To help promote the film and his special brand of karate, Master Han held a demonstration on the lot of Warner Brothers for employees." The martial art used in "Billy Jack" was hapkido, not karate... however, because western audiences were more familiar with Japanese karate than with the Korean martial arts, the word "karate" was appended to the techniques. Grand Master Bong Soo Han was a hapkido master first and foremost, although he respected practitioners of other arts.

  • The was the first martial arts movie I ever saw and it opened the door for everything else that followed in the U.S. including Bruce Lee.

  • i loved loved loved this movie back then, he style was more defensive

  • It's hard to imagine how such a small low-budget film made such a huge impact in so many ways, but Billy Jack truly kicked ass, and Master Han was pivotal.

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • He is building a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude, he has my gratitude, lets all give him a hand.

  • this was the second greatest self defence film i ever watched when Tom Laughlin as "Billy Jack" hit the theaters back then..the first was The Green Hornet, Bruce Lee as "Kato" >:0]

  • Rest in peace kwan chang nim han.

  • I'm loving some of this old footage you're uploading!
