There is always money to buy these types of guns...just save money by not buying the 34 other guns you were going to get XD...I have heard of guys owning like 20 rifles and they don't exactly live in beverly hills...maybe that's why, but still, is it really necessary to have so many guns, when they could be replaced by a few good ones?
@daconqueror101 You forgot the point of buying so many weapons is because, they are Gun enthusiasts. Guns to Guns Enthusiasts is like Jay Leno's obsession with Automobiles.
Has much more modularity, more full auto shootability, and theoretically has more accuracy potential. But the key to remember is that very few people know for certain what it does or does not do better than the FAL because it's not available to anyone yet.
Modularity would mean that it's an inherently better design if you're concerned about easily building a rifle for a purpose. We don't have the same sizes nor the same needs.
There's more potential accuracy because it's always free floated, and there are so many good AR barrels. Also as stock guns, the rear sight on an FAL is on the lower receiver so the sight plane gets adjusted.
It seems like you just see no need to innovate and push boundaries, because something else "works good enough."
are the MAgpul guns that quiet? both the Masada and the Massoud both are quiet, you dont get that LOUD down range sound like all the F2000 videos, that bullpup rifle is LOUD. or is the landscape setting during the testing videos for here are more open area so you dont get the valley down range sound.
Its alot to do with the terrain and how the sound bounces around. all 7.62x51 guns are put out about the same amount of noise, more or less. With different muzzle devices and such the noise is directed in different ways but whats around you, not the gun itself, is what directs all the noise back or not
It's just the video. Guns are loud, very fucking deafeningly loud. Unless you're using subsonic ammunition with a suppressor you'll get some ring in your ears.
Actually they are designed as upgrades to the AR/M4 platform. The piston system is based off of the AR180 while the ergonomics are designed to mimic the AR for user familiarity.
Yes, But they took the looks, And versatility of the SCAR systems. Think about it, They look almost identical, They both have a Heavy and light model. And they are both competing at the Assault rifle level, For the U.S. Military. Also they both use a Gas piston. They both use plastics, And the similarities are almost endless.
Yes but the ACR uses a different barrel changing method, and hand guars. Also it uses AR15 triggers. Also The ACR lack the ugly of the SCAR, and that damn reciprocating charging handle.
Th SCAR uses a very similar trigger group to the AR15, Also the SCAR is fully ambidextrous. And Ugly? How? The SCAR series rifles in the sand color, Are gorgeous.
Ok the ugly thing may be my and my friend option. But while the scar uses similar trigger from an AR, they are not interchangeable like on the ACR. Also nothing is original in any of the new gen rifles. The Scar borrows many features from the FN FNC, FAL, and G36C. For me the ACR seem to have taken the best of the Scar and improved on it. But for now my AR-15 work well enough that I do not see myself buying an ACR or SCAR. My ARs have never failed me. My M4 is at 2500+ since last
They aren't interchangeable because they are meant to replace the AR series, Not work with it. But 70% of the parts on the SCAR series, Are interchangeable between models. Now I'm not 100% familiar with the ACR family, But are they gas piston?
Yes they are, short stroke like the SCAR (a little different configuration). Really they are VERY similar. I just like the lay out of the ACR better, and the lack of sharp angles on the ACR.
The SCAR was released for initial testing in November 2002. It was released for purchase in May 2005. As for the XM8(which failed initial testing) Began it's initial testing at Aberdeen proving grounds in October of 2002. And was only released by H&K for civilian purchase in February 2006.
So this video told me absolutely nothing about the rifle, except that it goes bang. Less of a time waster would have been an actual review of the rifle.
The music is Jane's Addiction. Very appropriate for the age group this rifle is geared towards...I.E. a younger generation. This isn't your grandpa's BAR! ...Jane's Rocks!!
Awesome, the masada's big brother; with a bigger punch.
MASADA - Fortified Citadel in the mountains of Israel, overlooking the Dead Sea. Site of a mass suicide of Israelite rebels after the First Roman-Jewish War.
MASSOUD - for Ahmad Shah Massoud - "The Lion Of Panjshir" - Afghan Northern Alliance commander assasinated by Al-Qaeda prior to 9/11 and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Lucky! Anyone have the time to explain to me why Bushmaster chose 6.5 over 6.8? I know about the cartridge but I guess not enough because I thought 6.8 was better? Can someone inform me please?
True, its ballistics completely overshadow the 6.8 and even the 7.62x51. But for close in(less than 400 meters) the 6.8 is firing a highly capable load and the 6.8 holds 3 rounds more per mag. Each has its high points but 6.5 is an unbelievable cartridge. 1000 meters out of an AR15 platform!
Isn't the 6.5 only more accurate than the 6.8? I read about it somewhere, and it said that the 6.5 was unbelievable if you're shootin' paper. Where as the 6.8's not capable of the range, but definitely more lethal. I dunno. I'll take the 6.8 over the 6.5 anyday.
Both use 100-140ish grain projectiles, killpower at identical ranges will be very close, But once you pass that 400 meter line, the SPC has lost the battle entirely
Well, you also gotta figure, the 6.8 wasn't designed for extended ranges. 100 to 300 yards, tops. lol. But I'm a little biased. I just don't like the 6.5. Never shot one, so it's unfounded. lol.
If you like 6.8, nothing wrong, i dont, i like the range out of the 6.5. But the SPC is receiving increasing sales and their is no doubt its a good round. Barret is marketing rifles specifically for the round.
Well, both, in their own way. Firstly, the ACR is the 5.56 version of this rifle (code named Masada before bushmaster overtook the rights), and this one is a separate design that magpul still owns the rights to.
secondly the ACR is not hitting shelves first quarter 2009, look at bushmaster's site and press releases if you wonder why...
This rifle will be produced by bushmaster under the model name ACR. I believe it hits the shelves first quarter 2009.
The ACR is for military & law enforcement only in 2009.
Civilians won't see this rifle till 2010 if we're lucky.
If Bushmaster doesn't meet the sells in 2009 to military & law enforcement, then it will be only them that get it in 2010 and civilians will have to wait longer.
This is the Massoud, NOT ACR, its a new project building a heavier cartridge battle/designated marksman rifle. This, to the best of my knowledge, does not have a mass manufacturer signed for it yet. Hopefully we'll get further details as the ACR is released on the progress of this weapon.
I don't understand what you mean by "equal" The Massoud is a platform designed to fire full power rifle cartridges to distances of (likely) 800-1000 meters making it a battle rifle. The ACR/Masada is an assault rifle platform that fires the intermediate powered rifle cartridges at ranges of (again this just the range of other AR's) 400-600 meters. Again, what is "equal"
@fastguy45 yeah as long as this gun does not become another Masada, only a one or two gun concept/prototype that never makes production. When it does its a one caliber rifle, under a different name that makes claims to support some other common calibers, but never releases the factory made parts to easily do so. With that being said Magpul is awesome and really makes some leaps and bounds with innovation
It was very accurate for a gas operated piston driven rifle. We have a lot of comments posted in our forum about our experience. I also believe we will be revisiting this rifle in the near future.
