dude did you not hear an altering pitch as you moved the magnet around, i know what you're saying couldn't tell if it had any effect or not, but it sounded like a change in pitch, that would be a change in frequency if nothing was resonating?
@DarkShroom I heard the pitch change, but I couldn't be certain it wasn't due to bumping it or occluding the sound with the glass. My next project is to build the strongest electromagnet I possibly can. I'm working out the design still. I'm thinking of either going cryogenic, using hallow supercooled tubes with really high current, or a massive coil with some kind of super compact active cooling.

you should try, if the magnets will get charged up this way.
Maybe the upper magnet will have a positive charge and the lower
magnet will have a negative charge ?
Maybe something simular to a MHD generator ?
