    In the video, by "California = Spanish", I was attempting to justify my knowledge of the Spanish numbers with the fact that "if you live in California, you probably know some Spanish."

  • In Japanese, 4 is only "Yon" once it is over ten. For example 4 is "shi", 14 is "jyu-yon", 40 is "you-jyu-yon". It is the same with 8, as it changes too. 8 is "hatch", 8 is "jyu-hachi", 80 is "hatchi-jyu". I wish I could do all those other languages too :)

    because the ch sounds and s sounds are hard to pronounce together. :P

    There are other words which show this: Fuchs (Fucks) ; Dachs (Dacks) ; Lachs (Lacks) ; Wachs (Wacks) ..

    Other words which are pronounced like Macht or Acht are for example: Spachtel ; Wacht ; Nacht ; Wucht ; Bucht ; Sucht ; wachen ; lachen ; machen ; suchen ... As you can see, if there's an s in the end, its pronounced like "ck" .. if not, its not pronounced "ck"

    Actually, I hate that the counting can change いち、に、さん、し・よん・よ、ご、ろく、なな・しち、はち、き­ゅう・く、じゅう。

    But then I hate even more, that when you use counters, some numbers decide to change to the other counting system.

  • @324754 Spanish speakers native to California or who have immigrated here a long time ago actually pronounce a lot of Spanish (their native tongue) differently than speakers in Mexico.

    usually both shi or yon are acceptable, but in some circumstances you have to use a specific one. example:

    four o'clock = yo-ji

    April = shi-gatsu (literally, the fourth month)

  • Your French was pretty learner French. Un isn't really "Oohn" more like a hard "Uhh" You don't really pronounce the N. :P

  • cool =) but how come you missed russian? it's quite simple to count in russian. just in case anyone wants to try russian i'll write the words the way they are pronounced: 1 - udEEn 2 - dvAr (a long "a" sound like in "scar") 3 - trEE (simple, huh?) 4 - chetEEri 5 - pyArt' ( the ' means "t" must sound soft like in "teen", not like in "tank") 6 - shEst' 7 - sEm' 8 - vOsem'  and the two treeky ones: 9 - dyEvyat' 10 - dyEsyat'

  • :) you had trouble with "tatlo", "lima", and "sampu" in tagalog.

    "tl" in "tatlo" is tricky for nonnatives.

    "lima" has the stress on the last syllable, i.e. liMA, unlike in Bahasa Indo.

    regarding "sampu", everytime the letter "i" or "u" is at the end of the word, they would be pronounced "e" and "o" respectively, e.g. "hindi" /hin'DE/ and "sampu" /sam'PO/
