  • Its one of the best choice for a funeral. My sister died 7years ago and this one of the songs we chose to play, played the chorus part and "You don’t bring nothing with you here and you can’t take nothing back..." verse because my family thought that verse had the strongest meaning.

  • Oh I was at this concert in Las Vegas, 2nd row... I wish I would have captured it on video, but I couldn't bring myself to put that camera in his face while he was singing this song. The emotions I saw broke my heart. Even though Cory Mayo wrote this for his dad, I do believe Mr. Strait was thinking of Jenifer when he was singing. Wish you would have gotten the whole song, his expression at the end of the song says it all. God Bless you Mr. Strait...

  • These were the last words i ever spoke to my brother when he past away on Jan 9, 2006, he was in spirit and i know he heard me...this is my song to him,,, always , i will meet you on the other side.....you go bubba, i will see u again...maybe soon, who knows....sis

  • great song!!

  • Correct - it is written for Jenifer Strait who died as the result of a car accident in 1986. May the good Lord continue to do His work through George Strait.

  • everybody listen he did this song for his daughter when she died and u want to prove me wrong or not go to george straits daughter dies ad click on the jenifer foundation and u will knw wat happened to his daughter so everytime u hear this song think off george straits daughter

  • @donjohnsonbond1260 and PJAgnew...

This song was written by Cory Mayo FOR HIS DAD who passed away. Mr. Strait recorded it for his "Somewhere Down In Texas" CD because he knows good music. I'm sure he thinks of his daughter when singing this song, I'm sure everyone who hears it thinks of a loved one who has passed when they hear this song. BUT IT WAS NOT WRITTEN FOR OR ABOUT JENIFER STRAIT.

  • This is to my nana Mary rahilly 1929 - 2010.

    My friend Luis rodrigues 1988-2010

    Jimmy mullen 1976-2008

    My dad Jackie rahilly 1956-1995

  • I dedicated this song over the radio to my father...FRANK T. CERMINARO JR.....this is from your eldest daughter, Carol, whom misses you,...who will miss you everyday....for the rest of her life...

  • You are an inspiration to country music lovers everwhere! You hold so much meaning...your like a messenger from God! Every song you sing has a meaning too everyone everywhere. Everyone can relate too you... Your music will live in us FOREVER!!!

  • The writer of the song wrote it about his dad.

  • it might be about his daughter baby blue is

  • @texaspimpgtz

baby blue isn't about jenifer (george's daughter) it's only rumered to have been one of her favorite songs. know one really knows if thats true or not.

  • George Strait sort of says that he did it because of his daughter in a round about way. The songwriter was Cory Mayo, and he held it until George could record it.

  • I checked this song out because somebody said it was about George's daughter who died?! :(

  • It's a beautiful song. We also played this at my father's funeral. RIP CRB, I love you and miss you so much.

  • We played this song at my grandfathers funeral today. He was 89 years old. R.I.P Ernest Selph

  • My younger brother was given 8 months to 1 year to live when they discovered he had two brain tumors that could not be fully removed. He heard this song on a trip we were making to one of his treatments and said that if he didn't make it, he wanted this song played for him. 8 months to the day after his prognosis he passed and we played this for him without a dry eye in the room.

We miss you Chris! Love you bro!

  • @jkf74 He is looking down on you and loving you with every inch of his faith! Your story breaks my heart, but always remember...he is in a better place than we are. God only takes the angels!

  • @jkf74 please tell me your telling the truth about this? tell me more.....if so i love every letter u said of what happend....i never got the pleasure to meey him but i wish i had just to k family like u would be there for him....sorry i cant handle myself i hope u inderstand how much i feel for yalll........bye for now now a person so beautiful hatt

  • He is truly the King of Country. All he needs is a guitar, a microphone and the spotlight, and that's all he needs for a show.

  • George is awesome! Saw him in concert a few years back- great show. I lost my parents in an accident and this song always makes me feel closer to them- they'll be there!

  • this was his fav singer 2

  • this was played @ my grandpa's funeral a little over 3 years ago he was 69 i was only 11

  • this played at my big bros funeral. He was only 22 and I was only ten :(

  • how old are you know

  • Love this song. lost my mom unexpectedly 2yrs ago valentines day. I hear this song, and makes me cry, but he's right I'll see ya on the other side with god and your help!! love ya mama!!

  • God Bless You. I can't say I know what you went through because I don't. I can't imagine losing my mom, but in 2008 I have been through a lot, lost two friends in car wrecks, lost my grandmaw, have a cousin with two brain tumors and doctors cant do nothing about them and she is dieing, and another cousin that is going blind. 2008 was a depressing year for me. Remember that our loved ones are watching over us now.

  • lost my fiancee 3 yrs ago she was 21 died in my arms this song makes my soul cry. I love you all and I feel you!

  • not quite sure why its so dark.

  • me too granddaddy but i did cry when my mom showed me this he was in the army

  • Oh dude when my grandpa died, I remembered this song was on my IPo, when I started litening to this song,I alomost cried.

  • I can't listen to this song without thinking of my mom, who passed away in January. I cry before the words even start, and am glad I finally found it online.

  • i cry everytime i hear this song. when my friend from high school died, we played this as we were laying her to rest. everybody started singing, drowning out the music, but the tears i could hear in everybody's voice, it brought chills to my skin. i love this song.

  • I've had the privelege of seeing George Strait live in concert. He doesn't need a big production, just give him a mike and a spotlight and that's all you need for him to perform. He is truly the king of country with over 50 #1 hits. All Hail King George.

  • Seen him many times myself...couldn't say it any better!
