Now that the F-22 is out of production, the government should contract Boeing to add another line to the F-15K & produce a new F-15 "F" (or whatever). This version would have: AESA radar, new glass cockpit, new modular/upgradable electronics, and integration of the latest weapons in development. They could even skip the F-110 engine and go with the F-135. This is the smart thing to do. The Raptor would serve as a dominant sky sweeper along with UCAVs, and leave the new F-15s to do the rest.
Very interesting comment by the USAF pilot stating F-15K's engines with GE129 have more power and sustained power and better efficiency than US F-15E with PW-220/229.. that's the first time I've heard such a frank comment on this comparative issue. I'd only like to see an F-15 then, with the GE132 upgrade kit installed!

@TacairStationHQ Interestingly, this is not an uncommon export strategy. The Europeans exported their Jags in the 70s with uprated engines. The French Mirage export versions were given uprated engines to sweeten the deal. The US via General Dynamics (back then) tried to market a de-tuned F16 with a Phantom turbojet (not turbofan) with no takers. However, in this case, I think the ever increasing weight issues sort of justify uprating the engines.
Well, the US is prevented from selling the F22 by law. Australia and Japan both desperately want it. Singapore is slatted for the JSF down the road and is already a development partner on some level. The F15SG is the most advanced F15 there is, even more advanced that Korea's F15K. Buying a plane is not just about the plane. It's about weapons integration, training as part of an US detachment, and logistical supply of munitions down the road as well as obtaining newer weapons down the road.

@hotrod4you2 Forgot to mention... the real kick in the F15SG is not the uprated engines. Rather, it is that the F15SG is the only non-US based F15 with AESA radar, making (currently), Singapore the only export country with AESA equipped F15s. Japan doesn't even have them. I suspect that this was one of the most important reasons for selecting this long-in-the-tooth platform. Majority of US based F15s are still currently without the expensive AESA radars. Not enough money to retrofit them all.
@blueskyjoy This vid seems quiet because most especially those that never checked with reality of owning and maintaining fighter jets already forgotten the F-15/16/18 when there are F-22/35. The newer F-15s had the avionics replaced with AESA radar, jammer, FLIR pod, RWR (radar incorporated for pinpointing tracker and incoming), etc. Its engine is already optimum and Increasing the engine output will only reduce combat radius. F-15SE is to increase its survival rate with much reduced RCS.

I would like to know how much both cost. Rafael has failed to make any sales at the moment although to be fair....I know little about it. It seems like a limited version of the EF although I know it will use AESA and be the first jet to carry the METEOR BVRAAM. The thing is tho....why does Singapore need these? NATO understands that the biggest conventional threat we face is missile technology. RSAF are getting 24 F-15SG by the end of 2012. The F-15SG equipped better avionics, systems, and technology. F-15SG Sensors & Communications include APG-63 v 3 (2010), PANTERA (Precision Attack Navigation and Targeting with Extended Range Acquisition) targeting pod, TIGER Eyes dvanced electro-optical sensor suite that will provide targeting, all-weather navigation, terrain-following and Infrared Search and Track (IRST), and the pilot wear JHMCS (Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System).
I would glad if Boeing export F-15SE Silent Eagle to Republic of Singapore Air Force. The F-15SE could change Conformal Fuel tanks configuration to External Weapons load configuration. The F-15SE have Stealth features include internal carriage w/fuel tank, radar absorbent materials, & Canted V tails. The F-15SE use new avionics and improvement such as new AESA APG-82 radar, Digital Electronic Warfare System, Digital Fly-by-Wire Flight Control System, & Link 16 fighter data link.
S-400 is useless against F-22. The F-22 Raptor can't survive and dodge it from S-400 missiles. The F-22 avionics to encounter measurement where S-400 missiles would tried to hit him. The F-22 could destroyed S-400 by drop JDAM ER (Extended Range). The JDAM ER is JDAM with wing kits on it flying toward to it's targets. So S-400, S-300, SA-22, and Tor M2E are useless.

USAF officers already admitted that F-22 is probably the ONLY aircraft that can evade the new stealth-detecting version of the S-300 missile systems. this is S-400 were talkin, which already outperformed the S-300.
Well the B-2 could carried a lot of JDAM ER and go pass through S-400 defense system. After all the B-2 is much stealthiest and invisibility than F-22 Raptor.
The F-15 got better endurance than the EF. F-16 is good enough to take out the SU-30MKM. You don't dogfight no more cos there is bvr. Having said that if the malaysians were to purchase the S-400 sam system from Russia, that could be a problem.

Wait, from the details I got, the R-73 earlier version has 60deg off-boresight, later R-73 having 90deg off-boresight while R-74 is >90deg off-boresight. Even the AA-8 Aphid latest experimental version was upgraded to 60deg angle before being phased out. EF-2000 radar is just medium range radar whereas F-15SG is using AN/APG-63V3 long range AESA radar. When F-15SG is carrying AIM-120C5 or better it'll be hard target for EF2000 as well. Plus, F-15SG could carry external large jammer pods too.
In terms of dogfight, the EF2000 has some advantages over F-15s. But if an F-15 is armed with AIM-9X whereas the EF2000 is carrying just AIM-132 Asraam, then the F-15 stands better chance as the AIM-9X is superior missile compared to AIM-132 Asraam. In guns only dogfight, EF2000 is better.

Tornados were called because they could carry the JP233 taxiway & runway attack munitions. Also, the Tornado ECR could perform ECM jamming role. Tornado is just good attack aircraft but not a good fighter. F-15E is superior multi-role fighter/bomber. Just that US never fitted it with large ECM pod used in EF-111A & EA-6B.

That's what I think as well. But the newer generation Russian missiles, their capabilities could be superb or the other way round as none ever tested the R-77 on US fighters yet. So is the newer (R-74 upgraded R-73). Older generation R-73, Serbia stood no chance to use them as their MIG-29s were splashed by AIM-120 at BVR distance.
the R-73 is a good short range AAM,its new upgrade is the R-74 which comes wit a improve infra-red seeker,the old R-73 av a 40 degree off-boresight capability n the new upgraded R-73(R-74) av a 60 degree off-borsight capability,similar to the brits ASRAAM n german IRIS-T,but still less when compare to off-boresight capability o the AIM-9X(360 degree) n the israeli PYTHON(100 degree),but hey,old jets arm wit this type o AAM would give thrust vectoring jets a hard time innit.

Now that the F-22 is out of production, the government should contract Boeing to add another line to the F-15K & produce a new F-15 "F" (or whatever). This version would have: AESA radar, new glass cockpit, new modular/upgradable electronics, and integration of the latest weapons in development. They could even skip the F-110 engine and go with the F-135. This is the smart thing to do. The Raptor would serve as a dominant sky sweeper along with UCAVs, and leave the new F-15s to do the rest.

Very interesting comment by the USAF pilot stating F-15K's engines with GE129 have more power and sustained power and better efficiency than US F-15E with PW-220/229.. that's the first time I've heard such a frank comment on this comparative issue. @TacairStationHQ Interestingly, this is not an uncommon export strategy. The Europeans exported their Jags in the 70s with uprated engines. The French Mirage export versions were given uprated engines to sweeten the deal. The US via General Dynamics (back then) tried to market a de-tuned F16 with a Phantom turbojet (not turbofan) with no takers. However, in this case, I think the ever increasing weight issues sort of justify uprating the engines.

Well, the US is prevented from selling the F22 by law. Australia and Japan both desperately want it. Singapore is slatted for the JSF down the road and is already a development partner on some level. The F15SG is the most advanced F15 there is, even more advanced that Korea's F15K. Buying a plane is not just about the plane. It's about weapons integration, training as part of an US detachment, and logistical supply of munitions down the road as well as obtaining newer weapons down the road.

@hotrod4you2 Forgot to mention... the real kick in the F15SG is not the uprated engines. Rather, it is that the F15SG is the only non-US based F15 with AESA radar, making (currently), Singapore the only export country with AESA equipped F15s. Japan doesn't even have them. I suspect that this was one of the most important reasons for selecting this long-in-the-tooth platform. Majority of US based F15s are still currently without the expensive AESA radars. Not enough money to retrofit them all.

@blueskyjoy This vid seems quiet because most especially those that never checked with reality of owning and maintaining fighter jets already forgotten the F-15/16/18 when there are F-22/35. The newer F-15s had the avionics replaced with AESA radar, jammer, FLIR pod, RWR (radar incorporated for pinpointing tracker and incoming), etc. Its engine is already optimum and Increasing the engine output will only reduce combat radius. F-15SE is to increase its survival rate with much reduced RCS.

I have hard about Brazil and the Rafael although I'm not sure if anything has been confirmed yet. In fact....Brazil look likey to be a future enemy of NATO because they are involved in an energy alliance between Russia/India and China and it's all to combat NATO's dominance. NATO understands that the biggest conventional threat we face is missile technology. Their all developing missile tech which is why USA has their high energy laser program and let's hope the US/UK can use that tech on UAV's like Taranis...along with ScramJet technology. What's the deal with the Silent Eagle btw? Will it be exported? One would assume the Silent Eagle along with the F35 will be USA's top 2 combat jets for the next 15 years or so. The F-15SG Protection Systems AN/ALE-55 fiber optic towed decoy system and AN/ALQ-135 is an internally mounted radio frequency jammer. It provides self-protection countermeasures against radar-related threats. It is an integral port of the F-15 Tactical Electronic Warfare Suite which also includes ALR-56C warning system & ALE-45 chaff/flare dispenser. The F-15SG can carried 8 AAM like 4 AIM-120C5/7 & 4 AIM-9X or 6 AIM-120 & 2 AIM-9X. The F-15SG could carry a lot of bombs, AGM, and other weapons.

F-15SG Sensors & Communications include APG-63 v 3 (2010), PANTERA (Precision Attack Navigation and Targeting with Extended Range Acquisition) targeting pod, TIGER Eyes dvanced electro-optical sensor suite that will provide targeting, all-weather navigation, terrain-following and Infrared Search and Track (IRST), and the pilot wear JHMCS (Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System).

I would glad if Boeing export F-15SE Silent Eagle to Republic of Singapore Air Force. The F-15SE could change Conformal Fuel tanks configuration to External Weapons load configuration. S-400 is useless against F-22. The F-22 Raptor can't survive and dodge it from S-400 missiles. The F-22 avionics to encounter measurement where S-400 missiles would tried to hit him. The F-22 could destroyed S-400 by drop JDAM ER (Extended Range). The JDAM ER is JDAM with wing kits on it flying toward to it's targets. So S-400, S-300, SA-22, and Tor M2E are useless.

The F-15 got better endurance than the EF. F-16 is good enough to take out the SU-30MKM. You don't dogfight no more cos there is bvr. Having said that if the malaysians were to purchase the S-400 sam system from Russia, that could be a problem.

The R-60M2 & R-73 marketed here back in Lima '96 I think, the Russian listed that the modernised lower cost R60M2 has 60deg angle while R-73M is 90deg angle. I guess AIM-9X is #1 followed by Python5 then R-74 & IRIS, and so on.

Wait, from the details I got, the R-73 earlier version has 60deg off-boresight, later R-73 having 90deg off-boresight while R-74 is >90deg off-boresight. Even the AA-8 Aphid latest experimental version was upgraded to 60deg angle before being phased out. EF-2000 radar is just medium range radar whereas F-15SG is using AN/APG-63V3 long range AESA radar. When F-15SG is carrying AIM-120C5 or better it'll be hard target for EF2000 as well. Plus, F-15SG could carry external large jammer pods too.

In terms of dogfight, the EF2000 has some advantages over F-15s. But if an F-15 is armed with AIM-9X whereas the EF2000 is carrying just AIM-132 Asraam, then the F-15 stands better chance as the AIM-9X is superior missile compared to AIM-132 Asraam. In guns only dogfight, EF2000 is better.

glad singapore order 200 aim-9x n 200 aim-120c to go wit this,singapore now av a complete air superiority capability,now they can engage targets from bvr n can dogfight too,this jets also av advance jamming system,so i think its a good choice by singapore,ef is too expensive for a plane that consider not a true 5th gen,yeah ef is not 5th gen,its more like 4.5 gen,guess what people,f15sg is a 4.5 gen jet,so its a great buy by singapore.

If Singapore bought Typhoon, it'll peform poorer in air to ground capability. Plus, getting EF2000, in future, what new plane can u trade in with? US & Russia fighters seen more combat and they are more professional in building fighter jets. EU? several Panavia Tornado got shot down, can't dogfight, etc.... SU30MK could easily splash EF2000 off the sky compared to F-15SG if being equipped with proper AAM.

Because these 3 countries build planes based on feedback from users & experience. That's why the chances that they'll come up with something practical would be higher. Not just some1 who would just decorate their plane and give hell of expensive maintenance headache. EF2000, how well could it fly over certain desert with air pockets and sometimes no air at all? Hands on experience will tell u how to make better plane. Stop sticking to EU marketing gimmick. If u r American, US has best fighters

Now back to fighter jets topic. Other than the fighter jets performance & capability, not to forget maintenance, spare parts availability & affordability. Some parts are real expensive and require certain tech level engineers to fix. During wartime, resources could be harsh and you'll need something that could fly with poorer maintenance. Even I could buy the F-22, do have Su-37 in the fleet as well as the Su-37 is more mechanical and without sophisticated electronics, it could still fly

By right, several countries with own genius inventors came up with lots of things. Not just 1 country. It's not like 1 country holds the title, the rest are thrash. Thomas Edison was British, Leonardo Da Vinci was Italian, without them, germany won't have genius as well. Most important is still future & the race is on. You dont know shit man! Tornado is propably the best fighter bomber ever! See, theres a reason why the americans asked the brits to bring the tornado in both iraq wars & afghanistan! Our Tornados are in Afghanistan too and also they've flown ECR and Recce missions in the Kosovo conflict.The Strike Eagle is good, but the Tornado is perfect for that purpose.

Tornados were called because they could carry the JP233 taxiway & runway attack munitions. Also, the Tornado ECR could perform ECM jamming role. Tornado is just good attack aircraft but not a good fighter. F-15E is superior multi-role fighter/bomber. Just that US never fitted it with large ECM pod used in EF-111A & EA-6B.

now for some off-boresight missiles,sure russia av the VYMPEL R-73,brits av AIM-132 ASRAAM,germans av IRIS-T,yanks av AIM-9X,all are off-boresight missile design to fight highly agile jets,but dont yap about ruski R-73 is the best,its not,its seeker n tracking system are inferior when compare wit the AIM-132 ASRAAM,IRIS-T n the AIM-9X,av to write this down coz a ruski or chinese fan would say all western off-boresight missile suck this n that,truth is,they are better than ruski n chinese.

just read something on internet that singapore ordered 200 AIM-9X,good job singapore,the yanks AIM-9X is a off-boresight missile that was design to counter thrust vectoring n highly agile jets,it is a good missile to av in a dogfight,you also dont need thrust vectoring on your jet if you carry 1 o this missiles,if any F15 hater yap about SU thrust vectoring would kick F15SG,tell em you better be ready for the AIM-9X mates.

That's what I think as well. But the newer generation Russian missiles, their capabilities could be superb or the other way round as none ever tested the R-77 on US fighters yet. So is the newer (R-74 upgraded R-73). Older generation R-73, Serbia stood no chance to use them as their MIG-29s were splashed by AIM-120 at BVR distance.

the R-73 is a good short range AAM,its new upgrade is the R-74 which comes wit a improve infra-red seeker,the old R-73 av a 40 degree off-boresight capability n the new upgraded R-73(R-74) av a 60 degree off-borsight capability,similar to the brits ASRAAM n german IRIS-T,but still less when compare to off-boresight capability o the AIM-9X(360 degree) n the israeli PYTHON(100 degree),but hey,old jets arm wit this type o AAM would give thrust vectoring jets a hard time innit.

i would say from beyond visual range,the F15SG would beat a SU30MKM,but in a dogfight,a SU30MKM would win unless the F15SG is upgrade wit what the yanks av done wit there F15's n F18's today,that is upgrade it wit a (joint helmet mounted cueing system) n the new (AIM-9X) that av off-boresight capability to counter thrust vectoring jets,if advance F15SG comes wit this,they will dominate from beyond visual range n in a dogfight even though it dont av thrust vectoring.
