LOL open heads would certainly cure the leaky header problem. If you don't mind me asking what kind of headers and exhaust are you running? I would love it if my '70 Cougar sounded that mean.

ohh yes. we have some nice back roads to really open here up. only problem is the local cop can hear us start up so hes always waiting by the intersection. so we go a different route every time :) hehe
i watch this video alot in the winter, when my '66 Coupe is in the garage. I swear it sounds the same as mine when its turning over. It really helps to get me thru them long months till spring time.
Makes my day too, or hour depending on how often i visit this way cool Mustang!
you made my saturday morning much better. glad i found this video. sure sounds good. if you need someone to take it for a spin more often, you can always give me a call. you have a sweet stang.
Every time i let my '66 Coupe sit for a couple weeks...it takes at least 2 trys. usually starts right up on the 3rd time tho. I think of this video every time too. lol. Im sure mine would take 4 cranks too also if it sat for a year, but then thats a crime!!
yeah, every time i go to start my '66 Coupe, some times it'll start right away, then some days it takes a few cranks. BUT it always starts. After sittin 2-3 months, it takes 3 times usually.
Wish i had 306hp instead of the c code 289 with only 200hp. That was also 43 years ago. Now its at 190,000 miles so it prob aint puttin out that much. Still gets me from point A to point B tho.
nope, its a 289, but this is a shelby so it does have differences compared to the regular 289. this is closer to the Hipo 289 as it can rev up to 7500rpm, Quite impressive for a 40 year old engine with mechanical fuel pumps and carbs etc lol
hey, i did some taping from the passenger seat once in about 1987 and Yes, i got a real good, LONG look at the dash. My ex and kids still tease me about it.
But its the "sound" of this car thats so great. I want one! Please Santa!!
wow, this is the FIRST time iv ever seen a pair of original type wipers on a Mustang...well, except for my '66. Even in all my searching. And my '66 coupe which has 200,000 miles on the 289, will start fine every day but let it sit for even 2 weeks and it takes a few cranks. It doesnt run for 2-3 months at a time in winter, some times you have to pump the heck out of it, and sometimes you will flood it if you do that, its tempermental. Still getting the hang of it after 20 years!
lol. my cousin treats this car better than his wife lol. its done less than 40000 miles.
he used to have the same problem with starting when it was sat around for a while as you can see in the video. but, now he uses aviation fuel. its got a much higer octain and it just seems to work with the old leaded engines. starts 1st time everytime now, and has a bit more bite to it :).
Yeah, I'm havin' that same problem with my carbureted Chevy now, but yeah, carbureted engines do that, but I know I have a vacuum leak in the engine somewhere I have to find and I think the leak is in the carburetor cuz I had that problem before and the rebuild fixed it
now you want to talk about bringing back very fond memories. thank you. it reminds me of the one i used to have. very good video, except the camera needed to show the road instead of the dash. thanks again
Oh yer it also runs on aviation fuel aswell. The higher octain means it starts easyer, and it doesn't corrode like regular petrol. makes it good for storage as its only used a few times in the summer :)
its a real. the car is completely original. The only difference is it was given a new coat of paint since this video. It is the same "shelby Green" but with white la mans stripes. It looks even better.
I love your car so much,i have always had a love for these wonderful cars, and one day i will own one, even if its a stock 67 fastback,im very poor, and will probably never ever expierience the thrill of driving a Ford Mustang...ty for sharing this video with me.
Sounds great, just like mine until she warms up. Nice! Check out my 1978 cobra II, 289 hi-po, boss 302 rods balenced blueprinted, bigger valves. Nice car dude! stanzutube or just try "mustang ii

not only that but the fuel keeps alot long aswell so its ideal for storage.
However look into it beforehand and make sure you remove all regular petrol because it dont mix well

Now why did the car have a hard time starting?, sounds like timing needs to be adjusted and a new distributor cap, rotor, & maybe a coil...

because it hadnt been started for about a year.
now it starts 1st time everytime :)
