Well the Japanese edition was the only version of the game that's currently avalible. Although to be honest, whilst it would be awesome to have the game more widely avalible worldwide I'm actually quite happy with having the original Japanese version of the first DS game in this series!
Besides, the only English version of a Taiko Drum Master game so far was one released only for the US for the PS2. And sadly whilst the music choices on the original Japanese titles are great, the English version for the PS2 5 years ago had a reeeeeally naff selection in my opinion so I'm going with the original versions when I can. o.o
And yes, Anpanman is extraordinarily famous! ^^ Then again, so's Doraemon and they had the theme song to that too! (I actually own a Doraemon fansite as well)
Nice review! I might do a combined review of the 2 DS games in a bit but knowing about YT limitations, it won't be that long. I might just do a seperate video including the song tracks from both of the games but if I can put it on YT, I'll just put it on Dailymotion because there limitation of video can go up to 20min! ((O 3 O))
