  • This youtube video has better quality then the theme song did straight from my TV.

Oh waking up super early on Sundays trying to beat all my siblings to the spot by the heater to watch the Muppets :)

  • I have a feeling that this is where nintendo got the idea for Birdo

  • what is it saying fanomna or manahna

  • Stop asking for thumbs up and enjoy the muppets!

  • This has good quality

  • i love this show

  • i love the muppets

  • thumbs up if u like juliet's outfit when she dances.

  • My favorite part is when the mahna mahna guy calls the do guys and they make a weird face!

  • great to see this show. I was born a bit late for it so i'm glad to be able to catch up on my tv history.

  • Manamana do do do do do

  • tell me again why this show is cancelled?

  • wheres the other old guy with the green nose?????

  • @cakebossify I'm guessing that your talking about Pops. Well Pops wasn't on The Muppet Show until season 5

  • i love it now i want to see the movie!!!

  • my childhood :D

  • MAHNA MAHNA!!!

  • omfg i came 4 nostalgia!! i fucking love the muppets...*always & forever!* styll got to c the new movie!

  • What movie? I just came here for nostalgia and I'm not even 20 yet!

  • haha too funny by the way the movie was awsome i just saw it like an hour ago

  • i am 9 and i love the muppets <3

  • @kthoren7646 i am 59 and i love the muppets, too!

  • we've also got mernomnom, whatever that means - oh if only the writers knew what that song would become XD

  • they need to bring the muppets back I miss them

  • just saw the movie and I'm watching this

  • Mahna-mahna, do-doo do-doo-do! :oD

  • The show was never recorded in live, but really they did a big job putting the laught tracks sincronizated, it really gives the sensation that you're watching it in live, and also encorauges you to laught so

  • Mahna Mahna

  • I watched The Muppets for the first time when I was about 5 because of my aunt, and now here I am, 16 years old, just watched the movie a couple of hours ago, and came here to re-watch The Muppets Show all over again. I guess some magics never stop working

  • @CokeCookieCola I'm 16 two

  • Who woulda thought the muppets were british?

  • @ceitiosaurus ... what?!

  • @ClaireTheHip Yeah it says that the show was made and aired in the uk.

  • @ceitiosaurus the Muppet Show also aired in the U.S. in the mid to late 70s and early 80s

  • @jimmyrockn4u Yeah but later.

  • It's so odd. Jim Henson died three years before I was born. Growing up, the only exposure to The Muppets I had was Muppet Treasure Island. Now here I am, 18 years old, and I find the Muppets irresistible. Hmm, I guess some magic never stops working.

  • thumbs up if your watching this in 2011-2012

  • the cave man and birdo are horrible

  • mahna mahna

  • As a hardcore brony i gotta say... these two shows are in completely different categories...... No point comparing them...

  • Thumbs up if you're watching this /before/ you go see the new movie.

  • Are people really comparing The Muppets to MLP? Really? As a fan of both, I think they're in completely different categories, but they're both good shows with great writing so let's just leave it at that.

  • @kittygurl212 dafuck is mlp?

  • @flow383 My Little Pony; Where on the internet have you been?

  • @shrederman38 9gag bro.

  • Muppy's soooooooooo cute! :)

  • amazing qualtiy for a show from 1976 THANX FOR THE VIDEO

  • munomina

  • The new movie was fantastic.

  • flame war is dumb

  • @smacler51: Umm...no. You're close-minded on the show simply due to its cutesy art style, overuse of "girly" colors like pink, & the fact that the original campy product was meant to promote the girl-dominated toy line. In fact, I only watch the new show because the wriiting is superb & the character interaction is just as brilliant, bringing more relatable realism into the MLP-verse than ever previously done before (ex: Tara Strong as Twilight Sparkle...enough said).

  • Did this air on disney channel once

  • I'm 38 years old and remember being a Muppets fanatic when I was a kid. I'm so glad to be able to re-experience watching them now.

And I actually did LAUGH OUT LOUD at the point (about 4:05-4:08) when Kermit takes the phone call...............................from monomana (sp?)

TV now suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks compared to this.

  • I wonder how the trick of Kermit drinking the milk was done! xD

  • @Vernedi Forget about the milk! The Juliet Prowse dance number was AMAZING! O_o

  • i used to watch this when i was a kid. ;) now my little boy loves it. lol

  • i miss the muppets, i miss Jim Henson. :(

but his memory lives on with his fans:D

  • kids these days have no appreciation for good television

  • i miss the muppets....:(

but i'm glad youtube has it :D

  • I love this show I've been watching it on youtube a lot now!

  • I was five when this episode aired, and I still remember it. Every Sunday night, me, and my parents would sit down and watch this show, and never missed a single episode. It's when kids, and parents could sit and watch a PRIME TIME show TOGETHER, and not have to worry it was going to be inappropriate. How very sad we can't do that anymore.

  • i LOVE ANIMAL and miss piggy the orignal diva and kermit and FOZZIE omg lol

  • i like the muppets

  • manamana

  • Thumbs up if u came to see this right after u saw the movie :D

  • @superfadelxx3454 I know i did!

  • they should show this again on tv

  • Don't the Snowths kinda look like Birdo?

  • MAHNA MAHNA!

  • @avaflava1 doo doo dadoodoo

  • Damn, I'd fuck the HELL out of Juliet Prowse

Love that dragon kimono of hers ~<3

  • I agree this is a piece of culture it has been out before I was even born! I love muppets -3

  • manama

  • This is basically my first time seeing the Mahna Mahna sketch in its entirety. I never knew the guy blinked! o.o

  • Wonderful.I actually watched this the 1st time round!- on London Weekend Television 5-30pm ? on Sunday 5th September 1976.I had never seen anything like 'The Muppet Show' & watched it every Sunday from then on.It was a real tv treat back then.Zany & intended for adults as well as children unlike Sesame Street. Thanks for this great clip.

  • Mupppy looks like my dog :D

  • manamana.

    MANAMANA.

(sticks in from side of the screen) manamana!

  • MINAMINA!

  • I named my dog Muppy. :)

  • question: if later in the season and even in the series of the muppet show Kermit only just meets Scooter or rather scooter's uncle then why does he already know scooter in Season 1 Episode 1? it doesn't make sense......

  • @MsAmbrosia29 It's the Muppets, bro. Roll with it. They're awesome. :D

  • Oh no, Kermit the Frog has gone Dr. Evil on all of us! His pinky finger is sticking up while the rest are down at 1:27-1:44. Makes me laugh to see that.

  • bnamnah

  • what show of this current decade comes closest to matching the spirit of the muppet show?

  • But what the heck are the manamana muppets??

  • damb this is old but good

  • The legendary Manamana sketch, i LOVE IT!!!!

  • I love how you can see Hensons Knuckles at the back of Kermits head :D <3

  • manamana is my favorite!

  • "It Really Makes Me Happy To Introduce To You-!"

ANd It Really Makes Me Sad That Disney Channel Cut Off You Scene, Kermit.

  • i first saw this wen i was 8 or so, now i am 21 and this still is great

  • I recon they should have a whole new season of TMS (the Muppet Show) and in one episode they should have the potter puppet pals :P in it lol

  • she vanished! how did she do that?

    Probably like this! *vanishes*

Yeup, that's probably how she did it!

    LMAO

  • I can't wait to see the attempt at bringing this back...it'll fail.

  • @ExecutorArkanis Nah, oh ye of little faith.

  • When tv shows were WORTH WATCHING!!

  • @Orbot I agree but MY LITTLE PONY FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC I think is better than this.

  • @Tonytambe are you retarded?

  • @OmegaShenron6574 Boys like my little pony... seriously, go look in the internet.

  • @Tonytambe no i get that. honestly i do. but comparing that to THIS! a piece of culture. you must be retarded or just blind. nothing is comparable to this

  • @OmegaShenron6574: Excuse me, but MLP is nearly at the same level as The Muppets in terms of entertainment. Yes, nothing surpassing anything Henson's ever done, but vintage Disney, classic Nick, things like MLP, Mr. Rogers & Reading Rainbow & Carmen Sandiego--among other sheer brilliance--is right up there with them.

  • @TherealRNO go home. no really. MLP is nowhere near on this level. its a girls show with a disturbing fanbase. The muppets are a cultural icon that get applauded in the cinema. MLP is something that should be set fire to in some sort of crusade

  • @OmegaShenron6574: You apparently are still close-minded if you think MLP: Friendship is Magic is just for little girls. It's like the Muppets, for TMS was meant more for adults in a style remenisant of vaudeville stage performances, but the Muppets & guest stars were so engaging & timeless that everyone--young or old--could enjoy it. As for the new MLP, the intended audience may still be little girls, but there are male fans (called bronies in the fandom) who like it (myself included).

  • @TherealRNO dude don't even go there. i know a brony and he is shocked you think MLP even comes close to this show. and it is a girls show and its weird that you older lads (if you can be called guys) are watching it. don't go all hipster saying there are jokes in it for older audiences. its a show about a group of female ponies of various colours doing girly shit.

  • @OmegaShenron6574: you say "i know a brony and he is shocked you think MLP even comes close to this show", to which i say both shows are for everyone & are enjoyable in their own ways, which would explain my little pony's appeal to guys now. i mean, as a child of the 80s/90s, i'm inclined watch stuff that reminds me of my generation, things like the current my little pony show & the early 90s little mermaid series included,

  • @OmegaShenron6574: you say "don't go all hipster saying there are jokes in it for older audiences", yet if you set you're close-mindedness aside, you'll notice that such jokes dominate the new mlp series, because lauran faust wanted it to have universal appeal, which it now has, thanks to good writting, subperb animation (though the style is still cutesy), & the hiring of well-known voice talent like tara strong.

  • @TherealRNO ok i have seen the show. its not funny so stop trying to justify your retarded viewpoint. MLP in any incarnation does not compare to the muppets. the new muppets movie has been met with a standing ovation in cinemas. the only reason an MLP movie ever would (as if it deserves one) is if the cinema was loaded with you lot. then the parents all look as if you are disturbed or something

  • @OmegaShenron6574: i've a right to my personal view just as you do, so even if you call my opinion retarded--which shows me how little you regard others, which goes against jim henson's own for-everyone philosophy & moral code--i am proud to be both a muppets & mlp fan; i may like mlp & other "girly" things, but that in itself doesn't make me homosexual like it seems you're playing off all male mlp fans as, for i am decidedly straight, even with my personal tastes in fandom.

  • @TherealRNO haha, no. MLP is just a show for LITTLE GIRLS, their fanbase despite what it may seem, is just a bunch of trolls pretending to like so people get annoyed, The Muppets are a CLASSIC, MLP is just right out dumb.

  • @smacker51 I like The Muppets, but I also like MLP Friendship is magic, it's sort of crazy and out there. The story line alone is weird as hell.

  • @Orbot hahah i wish i was born when this show was on air. Im sick of the dirty, stupid shows we watch today.

  • @cheeseontheburger Too much of today's tv is not worth the effort at all!

  • haha, i love this! too bad this was before my time, but i still love the muppets!! :D

  • MaHNa MaHNa

  • l love his show. - Gir

  • i love the muppet show and pretty sure if the new muppet movie does well there maybe a remake for the ONE TRUE MUPPET show not muppets tonite same idea just doesn't work without kermit running things for me

  • At 1:00

I've seen enough hentai to know where THAT'S going.

  • Hey look! the 3 people must be cartoons from these days!

  • Fozzie's greatest opening joke EVER! Even W+S couldn't find anything wrong with a joke like that.

  • This is what i call one of the classic television shows that relate to my favorite cartoons :) what i see on tv now, right now...CRAP

  • I remember seeing this back in 78 and I thought Juliet was the most beutiful thing I have ever seen in my life.... I was only 9 at the time... Then I learned that she was married to Darth Vader(David Prowse)...That broke my nine year old little heart:(

BUT!!! I grew up and had a family of my own. And just to let you know Juliet,,, I named my first girl after you.

Your a beautiful lady, and I think thats a great name for a girl.

  • This episode is awesome!

  • Muppy kicks ass. They should make a stuffed animal out of him.

  • Don't you think the pink muppets in mahna mahna look like the egg-spitting dinosaurs in SMB 2?

  • This is the first episode? What was the last one?Thank you so much for uploading this!

  • Born September of 1936, died September of 1996. May she rest in peace.

  • It is a shame that no one can come up with anything as remotely creative as this show was. Gone are the days of genuine humor.... *sigh*

  • the best skit of all muppets is by far the menah menah skit...hands down

period, thank you and have a nice parrot

  • Is Gonzo's voice Guilbert Godffrey?

  • this is the first episode? but all the characters are so developed...

  • @CarlosJulio20 -Some of the characters already existed long before the Muppet Show started. Furthermore, this was the first aired episode, but not the first produced one.

  • @MultiMumpitz Yeah,like Kermit.He was never a frog in the first place.

  • @CarlosJulio20 the got it just right from the beginning, originality is DEAD.

  • @CarlosJulio20 i know right

  • @CarlosJulio20 idk? im getting the DVD ill tell you if this is the real deal

  • @CarlosJulio20 Kermit was also in the First season of Sesame Street.

  • I'm a bit partial to the type of opening that was used in seasons two through five.

  • jUliet fACe IS PRICeless.

  • best show EVER!!

  • I love the dance number! How creative and surprisingly beautiful -- I love those green, fuzzy, gazelle-like creatures, they complement Juliet's graceful style so well.

  • The first episode was Nigel as host, but that was the pilot and they made a turn for the better when they went with Kermit.

  • @FickserU - There were two pilots. The first one from 1974 was hosted by a character called Wally, the second one from 1975 by Nigel. These were productions in planning stages of the Muppet Show. The official episodes were produced from 1976-1980 and hosted by Kermit.
