  • what kind of steel sheet was that and how thick?

  • 1/2" aluminum

  • @TheRacingwits a lot, if not a majority of the high performance intake manifolds on race cars especially when weight is a factor are made of aluminum. It doesnt get too hot

  • Very nice, but how did you make the wood guide in the first place?

  • @vochitoken Take an original part and trace the outlines. Rough cut the bulk out and double stick tape it to a piece of MDF and route the pattern. Hand sand any changes you want in the final part and then follow the AWESOME video. This trick isn't limited to intakes, I've made interior parts and brackets the same way.

  • @rickcperry Very clever, thanks!

  • beautiful work

  • wow that came out nice! very innovative way to do it.

  • Are you using standard wood cutting bits or are they specifically for cutting metal? Very nice work!!!

  • yes standard wood cutting bits

  • My router scares the shit out of me. It's just too powerful. I like that you've put the plexiglass over the top of your workpiece and pattern. You can see through it and control it with your hands much easier.

You've fabbed a very nice part there sir.

  • what type of router bit are you using?

  • such precision

  • Sorry for the nooby question but what is the machine you are using called?

  • It's a Porter Cable hand-held router which is mounted in a table.

  • What brand and model is it?

  • Porter Cable 7518

  • wow very nice quality work , I could not have donne better my self grats.

  • Damned nice job John!
