I believe it is not racist. Just as they taxed cigarettes, this is a HEALTH care change. Tanning is not healthy under any circumstances. Also, a good note is that ONLY the tanning with UV is taxed. Spraying is not taxed at all. That further shows that its not about being a darker color, its a health concern. Furthermore, if someone really is that pressed about the pricing of tanning, they can take themselves outside and sit in the sun for free. I've posted a vid with my opinion as well.

Tanning is when someone exposes the skin to rays of sun shine but in this case a simulated sun shine received in a booth to turn the skin a cooper color or to produce Vitamin D in the skin. Dark colored people need more sun or tanning in a booth do to the pigment in their skin. It is beneficial for both dark skinned people and light skinned people providing one does not get too much rays. Vitamin D I think is actually a hormone and all people need it and many people are deficient in it.
But you do need Vitamin D though. You will get the right amount by being in the sun or a tanning bed. Vitamin D is more important than many realize for many function in your body.

I believe it is not racist. Just as they taxed cigarettes, this is a HEALTH care change. Tanning is not healthy under any circumstances. Also, a good note is that ONLY the tanning with UV is taxed. Spraying is not taxed at all. That further shows that its not about being a darker color, its a health concern. Furthermore, if someone really is that pressed about the pricing of tanning, they can take themselves outside and sit in the sun for free. I've posted a vid with my opinion as well.

I am not assuming you think drugs should be legalized, as I do not know. Tanning is when someone exposes the skin to rays of sun shine but in this case a simulated sun shine received in a booth to turn the skin a cooper color or to produce Vitamin D in the skin. Dark colored people need more sun or tanning in a booth do to the pigment in their skin. It is beneficial for both dark skinned people and light skinned people providing one does not get too much rays. Vitamin D I think is actually a hormone and all people need it and many people are deficient in it.

So I guess the morbidly obese, the alcoholic drivers, the sex addicts, the motorcyclists/parachutists/bungee jumpers will all get a "free pass" - but once again, it's OK to eF the Smokers!

@MzProgressive If that's true, the surcharges are going to hit poor people of all races. Geographic location with a high murder rate (read: Inner City)--(Warning! High-Risk! Ka-Ching! Surcharge!). Family size (read: minority families w/ many children)--(Warning! Large Family! Ka-Ching! Surcharge!). Smoking... well, they get shafted no matter what...

well white people get taxed more in general period, although not directly aimed. The main objective is to keep the working class working more or middle class, and to keep the poor or unfortunate on welfare so they don't riot or just to let them die from processed foods. O its all racist, I just think its more racist against class and threats rather than color. I thought Bernanke came from a low income working class family? w/e their goal is clear!

LOL! Not sure about that one Vision. We both live in Cali and we have a HUGE population of beautiful Hispanic women who love the California Tan and Salons. I think it could be more sexist than racist since it is a necessity for beauty pageants so that you don't get flushed out in the stage lighting.
Being a former California state Bodybuilding Champ & Black, I know that ALL bodybuilders despite race need them tanning beds for the same reason. However Statically it's definitely more women.
