it's not when it was discovered that matters- it's what you do with it! It's being used for medical purposes with stuff dealing with spine problems and other ailments. The fact that it has a memory that is heat associated is what makes the possibilities so wonderful!

That is neat and all. But who needs a wire that says hot. There can't be any market for the word hot in wire that can crumple.

Unless it is for deranged people that destroy things and then after they destroy them they can pop them back into shape. So that will kind of show them that killing someone can be reversed with hot water. Except people don't come in the shape of the word hot.

So after you wreck your car. Tow it to the car wash and have them rinse it with hot water.

LOL Nitinol is used every day. Hell, I had Nitinol in my braces in junior high. Orthedontists love this stuff. Easy to jam in there but once your body temp hits it, it starts to straighten out.
