  • Where's your Duck and Cover now?

  • @CEMTV76 Russia were arent enemies with and China just cant play

  • mentira

  • what is this film called?

  • @baileys60

    The Day After.

  • @vgtslvr thanks man i'm on part 9 now!

  • You didn't watch the movie did you?

  • 2:30 where the hell is that black guy going?

  • today+vaults=peace 4 us

  • Next time, be Indiana Jones and hide in the fridge.

  • Duck and cover.

  • Lmfao at people scarred of Islamic countries, they are just like us but the genocide ideas are from terrorist and terrorist dosnt have enough money to even build a 1 kiloton bomb witch is worthless.

Islamic governament has atomic bombs not terrorists.

  • I love Jebus!

  • Not as horryifing as threads

  • 1 EMP and 3 nukes on one city? Lol even one nuke would flatten everything. Yes, EVERYTHING

  • lol at 2:21- 2:32

  • And thus Fallout was born

  • @InDestructibile Meh, not 50'ish looking. X(

  • And this is how the game fallout begins in another dimension.

  • & I felt absolute horror, but then a peace came over me with no worries as I heard them talk about what we all had just seen. It was one of the most amazing moments in US history & as far as I am concerned, the whole world's history, as we all came together in a common unity & I have never felt that safe again since some of the Islamic countries have now got the nukes. It was like mass horror, then discussions & then mass bliss & relief at that time, unlike any thing I have ever felt or seen.

  • @Smallcherokeegirl08 You're also looking at the 80's through some VERY rose colored glasses.

  • we all would end up destroyed. Nukes would be flying from one country to another making it clear that there could be no winners ever. Now, we cannot have that same guarantee, because Iran & most Islamic regimes don't care if they die, as long as they kill us all while they do it. The whole world knows that there is no winners, but Islam cares nothing about who they kill or if they die when these things happen. I remember such peace after those were shown to all of the world all at once continued

  • Comment removed

  • @Smallcherokeegirl08 I'm pretty sure Nicholas Meyer didn't intend on his movie encouraging hatred and misunderstanding of other peoples faiths, and I don't get how you think the world getting nuked all at once is better than singular terrorist attacks. They both suck, but i'd rather risk a dirty bomb than the whole planet get eradicated. Islam has about the same amount of hatred towards non isalmic people as the bible has towards non christians, and can be misinterpreted in just as many ways

  • Afterwards, many world leaders, along with Reagan & Gorbachev, talked about what we all felt that night & the discussions dealt with nuclear bombs in depth while we watched History being made. The world audience listened in awe as we hung on every word they spoke in the discussion held between all these leaders, which was unforgettable. It shook up everyone of us & then, we realized that we were all mutually assured that there would be no winners if even one nuke hit anywhere, because continued

  • I will NEVER FORGET watching this & threads & 1 other movie that same night. Reagan & Gorbachev had nearly the whole world watching these movies at the same time. Russia, the US, The UK, Israel & so many other countries were all watching these at the same time all over the world. They were the most horrifying movies I had ever seen. I cannot forget that nearly the whole world was in utter shock after we watched these. I was young & these were used to bring peace to us all at that time. continued

  • 2:42 - 3:07 that scared the shit out of me. The scariest moment in this film.

  • 1:59 EMP bomb ?

  • @Hamodyxxx0

    yes, it's a EMP bomb.

  • @vgtslvr NOT an EMP bomb! it is a nuke that when detonated high produces the emp effect!

  • @KC8YOQ

thanks, this is corret ;¬) I expressed myself wrong before.

  • That's fucked up

  • they should've had a vault...

  • @HFWLWiffle Oh yeah, because those turned out great :P

  • what movieis this from?

  • @BigR3DRocket lol " the day after " .

  • 3:25

    kansas city is f***ed

an ´d that is one big nukes, those other 2 nukes couldnt even kill that man like 2 miles away, or maybe htta guy was just lucky to have ducked right on time

  • I have this on DVD, what a shitty movie. lol

  • And the tree hugers were finally happy.

  • Cuz War... War never changes.

  • This movie really made an impact on many people. It was during the cold war and really brought home what could happen in the US and Soviet Union really started something.

  • @xvoy2002

hey who knows, maybe it it helped prevent the nuclear war (:

  • Why in God's name is there a wedding at 3:23???

  • @favorites411 maybe they thoguh it was just another "false Alarm"

  • @FalloutMessiah maybe....but a wedding?

  • @favorites411

    I guess

  • Thumbs up if you were a kid when you saw this and were traumatized with nightmares for the rest of your life.

  • ICBMs with thermonuclear warheads

    That would've been cooler.

  • i remember being like 7 years old and looking for a movie in my mom's entertainment center. i saw this movie lying around int there and of course on the back it pics of big bombs which at the time i didn't know were nukes. i though cool!!! but then i actually watched the whole movie was like HOLY FUCK!!! especially when my mom told me about the cold war and other things.

  • how come the car's would stop!

  • @rylanstrong In theory. a nuclear blast in the upper atmosphere would create and EMP pulse that would fry all circuitry. Today It would have less of an effect but our entire power grid would go out. Some older cars would be toast, a few newer cars might still be operable. Computers might be damaged but operable. EMP hardened radios would be good.

  • @RainbowManification actually it would be the other way around ^^;

the electronics in modern cars would all fry

if anything more things would be affected

  • @rylanstrong the lectric stoped the systmes

  • it is a classic. But I wish they made an update. The nukes just look completely fake. At one point it looks like the nuke is a big bowl. Then it looks 2-D until it rises enough. And the mushroom clouds are just way two dark. They dont turn brown until about 10 seconds after the explosion. But then again, the movie was made for the understandably and how frightening a nuclear bomb is. But I wish it could be something more like the nuke from terminator 2 or Indiana jones 4, ya know what I mean? :/

  • @Shotgun8502 srry for bad spelling. *too *It

  • @Shotgun8502 The nuke blast were taken from stock footage of nuclear test in the 50s.

  • @RainbowManification Then whyy do they look so fake?? They look nothing like the nukes like:The atomic cannon, Baker, Castle Bravo, Ivy king, little boy, fat man, trinity, grable (atomic cannnon), Ivy mike, Castle romeo, minuitman etc.

  • @Shotgun8502 Nuclear tests were conducted in Nevada, so they would look orangy

  • @Shotgun8502

The mushroom cloud effects were made by injecting ink into water. Apparently there was no good way of simulating a nuclear explosion, in 1983 they didn't have CGI (Or at least nothing good).

  • I have this DVD and it is great!!! There was an English version of WW3 called "Threads" I saw it on HBO in the 80's It too is a great film... I don't care how many times I watch this movie, I still shake my head, with tears in my eyes and repeat "stupid" The unimaginable stupidity of a full nuclear exchange... I just can't fathom it... We ALL die,,, ALL of us. There is no winner... EVERYONE loses... Nukes were obsolete before they were even made.

  • Now, the old man's driving a VOLVO with TWO nukes exploding on either side and he Survives?

  • @AloneAndOld He later dies from radiation sickness. He was far enough away to escape the pressure wave and most of the heat but the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma rays from the detonations caught up with him later. In the end, everyone was dead or dieing, which is the whole point of this film.... NO ONE LIVES..... Nukes are obsolete.... NO ONE SURVIVES!!!!

  • i saw a 2t22

  • A lot of the f/x in this sequence (the sky scaper exploding, the bridge falling down) were ripped-off from the 1979 film "Meteor".

  • We would have shot half of the Russian missles out of the sky with Reagan Star Wars.

The other Russian missles would have been innacurate and missed.

The missles aimed at Andrews Air Force base were predicted to be up to 20 miles off course. I laughed at this stupid movie when 10years old and joined High School ROTC.

    OOOOH AHHH!!!!!!!

  • @UniverseCoach Playing with nuclear fire is not a smart thing to do. I wouldn't want to be remembered as the guy who ended all civilization on earth because I had an itchy trigger finger.

  • Is it bad that I laughed at the terrible effects ?

  • @Avataryoutuification No, not at all but it was pretty good for its day.

  • this is fake!

  • @AlbondigasDeMierda no fucking shit....

  • @AlbondigasDeMierda Of course it is fake, it was a movie and pretty damn good for its day. It did show the panic that would happen and what the after effects would be if there had been a nuclear exchange between the United States and the old Soviet Union. Had this really happened I seriously doubt you would be here today to make your idiotic statements. None of us would, because there would be no internet.

  • wouldn't the EMP destory the electrical equipment inside the nuclear missile and therefore stop the normal explosion happening which kickstarts the nuclear reaction? stupid film.

  • @NathanLawson27 EMP happens after the bomb is gone off. Besides, they could have impact explosions where conventional explosives explode on impact releasing the uranium bullet through the U235 thus the bomb still goes off and produces an EMP as well.

  • @NathanLawson27 I'm asking you this as a total dumbass about nuclear war. I don't know what an EMP is and how does that stop the normal explosion from happening? Basically I'm asking you to calm my fears, how is this a stupid film?

  • @NathanLawson27 No. The warheads following behind the high-altitude EMP warhead would be at too great a distance to be affected by the EMP.

  • @resinslinger

The warheads would still be affected... an EMP would take out all electrics on the eastern coast of america they would have to be out of this blast radius to not be affected... also they shockwaves in the air could cause the nuclear missiles to go off course...

  • Actually if you read Carson Kressley's "Nuclear War Survival" book, the general impression that a nuclear would involve the all-out targeting of all the cities in the other country--as depicted in this and other "nuke horror" movies--is NOT the way it would have been. The main targets of the Soviet Union were missile sites and especially airbases where B52's could take off from. Wasting weapons on spreadout population centers was not a priority.

  • I can't stop crying now. This is so evil, so horrible. Why?? Why do this?

  • @MoiselSpecky its only a movie, and in realaty , its all about , SURVIVAL FOR THE STRONGEST, the weak suffer while the strong lives, Its human behavior.

  • @rickonami It may be only a movie, but art imitates life. This 'survival for the strongest' is bullballs. Are we so inhumane that we would plow down with our fast car the old lady crossing the street because she is too slow and in the way? Are we so evil that we want to kill the newborn child that has a deformaty? If we simply shrug if off by saying its 'human behavior' then I would be the first to suggest that this behavior should be modified immediately! Peace Please. ~Moisel~

  • @MoiselSpecky Good point, but still, cannot FORCE a man or a woman to change their behaviour , its against their will, the only way, is they change them selves, to do that is all of us, we are responsible for all the actions in this world, and we should get together and fix the problems together.

  • @MoiselSpecky Don't let this movie get you down. It was a quick, cheesy effort on the part of Mr. Meyer to take advantage of the anti-Reagan hysteria of the Left in the early 1980's. Other than the first 1/3 of the movie, where the build-up to the attack and the actual attack takes place, the rest of the movie is maudlin soap-opera and is actually pretty boring (as many critics said at the time). Plus it shows strong evidence of a rushed, careless production.

  • @zooeyhall Thank you, my eyes are red as fire. This kind of thing, this mass killing, this evil, makes me so sick to my stomach. What problem or argument could lead to such a thing that it makes people want to kill, destroy, mangle life in this way? I can understand the leaders of an arguing country not liking each other, but why destroy the people, animals, the earth? Why not simply put the leaders into a boxing ring with a referee and let them have a go at each other? Peace Please! ~Moisel~

  • @MoiselSpecky It could be said that the existence of nuclear weapons may have prevented another major war, precisely for the reasons you mention and the realization of the leaders of the USSR and the US that such would happen if they took that fatal step.

Unfotunately, it is weakness that leads to war. If Hitler knew he would have gotten his ass-kicked invading Poland or Czech. it is unlikely there ever would have been a WWII.The reality is there are some bad guys in the world.

  • is this a movie?

  • @thefalloutnutjob no its real, lol

  • @potross11 I can't believe you are serious with such an asinine statement. If it weren't for America's participation in WWII, Britain and the rest of Europe would have been overrun by Hitler and the Third Reich.

Why don't you ask the Poles what they think of your friends the Soviets? Stalin was a brutal mass murderer, on par with Hitler. And Mao Zedong was another murderous bastard who learned every trick in the book from Stalin.

    Communism is evil. Period.

  • the special effects made me LOL, but I could still 'get into' that mentality.

  • watch the war game it is a lot better than this and threads

  • if this happens im gonna walk across the street and shoot a cow and have a bbq

  • They've been EMPed

  • Looks like a zombie apocalypse out their.

  • If only we could show the people of the 50s the raw power these weapons really held. I'd think they would have wised up the real threat much sooner.

  • the missiles taking off look like the one from the coast of California last month

  • I like how the tech asks to confirm if this is an exercise AFTER the missiles are launched. Boy, wouldn't he be red faced if they told him it was all just an April Fool's joke!

  • emp, all eletronic's are down

  • now i hate mushrooms

  • my gawd i read everyone's comment some of you are wanting to kill each other just here on youtube about who is more evil etc..etc...come on ppl doens't this movie scary already peace man Peace..

I live in canada btw...love and peace ppl, this movie scared the living crap out of me in the 80's...and still today things like this can happen...scary crap

  • EMP!!

  • Scariest movie of all time

  • @johnalang Threads was worse.

  • @johnalang Nah, "Grease 2" is by far the scariest movie of all time.

  • Good no more Hollywood too when California gets theres!!!!

  • @DetroitLove4U it's theirs, you used the non possessive form

  • @DetroitLove4U Good no more Wolverines too when Michigan get theres!!!! >:D How do you like that!?

  • thumbs up ive you came here because the russian missle and the bear t95 plane above holland

  • i love how its a montage of nuclear testing videos that are in the middle of the dessert yet, doesnt this take place in a city? lol

  • @bahhamack well i do doubt we are in the middle of a cake or ice cream

  • i think they should play the end by the doors it can make this film more interestng.

  • i miss bows and arrows, swords and shields.

  • ......Trinity.

  • Hell yeah!!! Nuclear war!!!

  • I Think Threads was better, I think it was more realistic.

  • The thing about a nuclear attack is that it generates an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) that will knock out everything that is tied in with the power grids, or with any kind of solid-state technology. What this means is: A, you can turn the key and pump the pedal till the cows come home! -- to no avail; and B, your computer, TV, stereo, etc., will be rendered inoperable -- even if the power ever were to come back on (HA! -- fat chance!). Oh, well. Maybe things will look better in the morning.

  • @rayandreina It would take anywhere from a few months to a decade for the field to lift

  • The Soviets had, and CFS forces still have now, Small, MIREV style weapons on their subs and "truck" bases. They are smaller kiloton-grade warheads designed to overwhelm our missile defenses. It will always come down to whoever has the bigger stick, and how soon to get it. Except, everyone loses. That is why it is called a deterrent force. It deters one's country to take the steps towards war. At least we knew they had it. Now, we don't know who will.

  • Remember nuclear weapons help keep the peace.

  • DEFCON 1 HOLY FUCKIN SHIT! -flash-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!

  • Makes me want to play Missile Command

  • Why is this possible???

  • I would fucking kill myself if this happens.

  • 1:45 It's all ME ME ME, isn't it?

  • @Noodles37UK More like frame 3:08 where they're trampling that little girl in the plaid dress! Now THAT'S ME ME ME!

  • this is really cool, find all this fallout and nuclear information really interesting lol. but honestly if i was in that idbe freaking the fuck out haha

  • Why is there an ice cream truck with "POLICE" painted on it? 1:23

  • russians=germanys , britans,chinas, russian snacks

  • visiari's speech ,kz2'' they try to clam our home by force but not by rite.....they sweep over our lands...never again will we bow before them ,never again endure there opresion, never again enure there terriany we will strik without warnin with out mercy fightin as one hand , one heart, one soul we will shatter there dreams and haunt there nightmares drensin our ancestors grave for there blood as our last breath tears of ther lungs as we rise again from the ruin of our city'' just postin a remark

  • @cammander263 Sound like somethong Pesident John Henry Eden (FO3) would say.

  • Comment removed

  • The sound quality is excellent

  • I'm glad I invested in a living space deep underground in a 'Vault -tech' vault.

  • @restlesspride666

    You play too much Fallout

  • Respond to this video... so unrealistic the old man would be dead and instantly turning into a skeleton is to kind compared to the real thing

  • Hey look! A Russian BTR in the american suburbs! And look I have an AT-4 bitches!

  • the explosion sounded like a jet going super sonic

  • It wouldn't take months, it would take years. Radiation has to lower enough to safely come out of the ground. Those who come out right after the attack portrayed in this movie would die slowly and nastily from radiation poisoning.

  • Someone needs to explain to me why an older car with a simple points/plugs/condensor spark system would fail. No computer brains = It wouldn't fail.

  • @BARRIEMOREBARLOW nuclear electromagnetic pulse will short out all electrical systems: it killed the battery and fried some diodes.

  • Kind of sad that the cold war is over but the threat still remains

  • 5:22 Somehow I don't think he and his car should still be sitting there intact. I mean at least two nukes exploded very close by. If the intense heat didn't melt him with his car, the shockwaves from both blasts should've smashed his car and the others into millions of pieces and blown far, far away.

  • @Akira625 Yeah and remarkable since everyone else around him got (on the highway) vaporized. What kinda car was he driving? Volvo?

  • Why did all car engines stop?

  • @7at2 EMP electromagnetic pulse

  • yeah but... who the hell am i kidding... we're all going to die :,(

  • I love how near the end of this clip the film's makers just get lazy and start using footage from old atomic tests.

  • If I was the USA and some1 launched one missile at me. I would launch ALL of my nukes and fuck that biatch up. Payback!

  • @Devine5496 And that's the MAD theory in a nutshell.

  • @potross11 You may call yourself English but your grammar and spelling indicates you are probably one of those Pakistani or other Middle Eastern immigrants who crashed into England and now enjoy the liberty that the "scum of the earth" helped save your adopted country from Hitler's and Stalin's tender mercies.

  • This film was'nt very realistic. There was no first strike target anywhere near Lawrence Kansas. The missile silos were all in southwestern Missouri. Kansas City had no major strategic target anywhere around it. It would have been struck much later in the war, during the countervalue phase.

  • @potross11 hey fuck you. this movie made the Russians appear more evil than in they were real life but it was for entertainment. and yes dip shit, the Soviets were fucking hostile. remember that they annexed most of Europe and invaded the middle east? they went to war with Pakistan i attempt for more power. not only that, but they were sending missiles to cuba so they could nuke us easier. if the soviets weren't so brutal, how come even your country feared being nuked you dumb British fuck.

  • America may have its faults but it's still the best hope for mankind. "Scum of the earth" who spent $13 billion ($150 billion today) to rebuild Europe after WWII, including Britain you dumb English troll fuck. While the Soviets allowed their troops license in mass rapes, and then stripped Eastern Europe of 80% of its assets to build-up Stalin's police state. Seems to me your author George Orwell wrote a little story about how England might have been under a Soviet-style regime: "1984"

  • @frantic1971: Actually, Orwell was critiquing fascism more than anything{of course, he probably didn't have any love for Stalinism, either.}, TBH.

  • no no no the nuke can only be unlocked after a 25 killstreak this video has it all wrong

  • these are the things ur car better have after the blast

    1. carburator

    2. mechanical fuel pump

    3. points and condenser distributor

  • in fact

    it won't take long

in 0.008 second, the whole city centre within 5 km will be compacted into particles, citizens there won't feel pain

10 second after impact, the temperature within 15 km will increase to 3000c

the impact breeze will wipe off everything within one minute

  • @ilovemokona2 yeah makes you actually feal bad for the ones who survived and had radiative poisoning (i mean i Japan of course)

  • @LuisRC91 well some argue that the japs had done worse, i dont agree tho

  • Those mushroom clouds. rediculous.

  • the scene 4:09 when the father is carrying his flash blinded son into the house after the nuclear detonation..........if im not mistaken......wouldn't the heat blast have already incinerated them and the house.....?

    this is just my observation

  • the scene 4:09 when the father is carrying his flash blinded son into the house after the nuclear detonation..........if im not mistaken......wouldn't the heat blast have already incinerated them and the house.....?

    this is just my observation

  • 7 missiles

  • You have to wonder watching this, what sense would it make for the US and Russia to destroy each others cities,How would killing millions of American and Russians ever prove useful in the long run.The object of war is to destroy your enemy without having too much damage inflicted on yourself,This is impossible to do in a all out nuclear war.

  • @noaanhc That is the entire purpose of M.A.D. ( Mutual Assured Destruction )

This very scenario is what keeps them / us on their / our best behavior.

In other words; It is a LOSING proposition for either side. However, "WE"

were far SAFER back in the days when the Soviet Union was our ONLY

potential enemy. Consider the World "WE" live in today? Do YOU feel Safe?

  • @ancientastronomer

I sure dont feel safe, its not the Russian Im concerned with but with terrorists getting their hands on nuclear weapons for WE KNOW they would not hesitate to use them on us.

  • I'd rather not be warned if it ever comes to this, lets face it, if you're in the drop zone you're fucked anyway. I'd rather not spend my last 3 minutes watching everyone lose their minds.

  • @Dave54600 I completely agree with you. It'd be panic.

  • @Dave54600 When I was in the Military, we used to laugh about this kind of thing. REASON: We ALL knew that since we were all on a U.S.Military Base, we were all sitting on "Ground Zero" anyway. In other words. We would NEVER actually "Feel" anything since we would ALL be instantly vaporized in a Microsecond, considering that Military Bases ARE ALL

    First Strike Targets.

  • omfg!!!!!! what a shit explosion

  • I have like 20 bottles of water and like 50 cans of food and 10 first-aid kits in the bombshelter under my home. my friends and neighbours don't understand why i should have that, but when the bombs drop, i will be the only survivor in my town haha!

  • @rhettcoolgek What is your plan regarding the "Air" which you must breath?

Since EVERYTHING on the surface WILL be Highly Radioactive for about the next 2500 Yrs. I think it is safe to say that you will need a few more than 20 bottles of water. Oh, and I hope your basement is about 250'-500' feet down completely surrounded by granite bedrock.

  • but cant they hide in the underground subway station?

  • @thegamelover21 Repeat after me; "Mass Grave".

  • Yeah!, I got a tactical nuke on (COD) modern warfare 2.
