Hi :) Got the diff from Birds Auto (.com), a UK site that has the distribution rights for the BMW diffs. Just send them an e-mail with your chassis number and they will find the right diff for you.
In my experience very few tires scream on a wet surface, although you can hear these squeal a bit on the paving stones. Will admit though, not been overly impressed with the Bridgestone runflats on this car, next set of tires will be non-runflat.
Congratulations for your new diff! I have one question, because I never have RWD car. On the same parking lot how the car will behave if you don't have the Quaife installed? 10x in advance!
Check out this video to see the difference: watch?v=zVh2f2B2OhE. Notice how even under full throttle he doesn't get any oversteer thanks to all the power going to the inside spinning wheel. Of course you can get an open diffed car to oversteer too, but you generally have to use weight transfer to start the slide making it (in my opinion) less predictable.
Couple of questions: I'm assuming that's with the traction control fully off right? (long press the DTC button) How's the car with the traction control on for normal driving? Does it feel any different?
Also - is the car harder to control with an LSD? Like less predictable?
Yup, video with everything off. With the DTC fully on you don't notice anything other than the increase in traction. You will see a lot less of the DTC lamp blinking in your dash though which is nice :)
Personally I would say the car is easier to control as it is more predictable, but some people find the open diff behaviour easier to deal with as you need to really provoke the car to get oversteer. Me, I prefer to know that when I floor it, both wheels will spin and not just one!
Hy!
Where did you get the diff-i have looked on quaife.co.uk and i didn't find one for the diesel(only for the 335i or 135i).
I want one,too!
Thanks!
