Vinnie on keys!! Met Vince Welnik around 1999 or 2000 in Vermont at a little side of the road bar near Sugarbush ski resort town, he was such a cool guy. After his first set he came over and talked to me and my girlfriend, and signed my bar napkin. He did a memorable version of 'Let It Be' that night. Place was packed with skiers and locals. ...Saw the Grateful Dead once in 1991 at Veterans Stadium, still have the ticket stub!
nice version but it is not 6-17-91. I was at 6-17-91, the only time ever the boys opened a show with Eyes. The boys took the stage around 8 p.m., it was still day light out, Jerry had his hair down, was wearing a different shirt that this and 6-17-91 Eyes was a better version than this. Top 3 ever version with 6-18-74 and 3-29-90. Trust me on this one.
This is the band at their best. NOTHING in the whole wide universe like a GRATEFUL DEAD SHOW. I WAS FORTUNATE to see them about ten times live. NEVER DISAPPOINTED. JERRY YOU ARE TRUELY MISSED MY FRIEND. Good to see the rest of the band is still rockin out. Hope to catch them this summer

i had the impression that hippies were the last reasonable tribe. it turns out the majority of them believe in magic, ghosts, and astrology. most people who go to shows are drop outs and anti-intellectual, and work menial jobs. @PinkFloydrulez Yes, given that they had underfoot air-conditioning ducts installed in the late years. But, as sometimes happened, Jerry managed to be magical enough that a cool breeze did ascend from underfoot to cool and bless the entrie band; despite the ducts not working that night.

Hippies were nonconformists. some cat in his teens or twenties right now can't be a hippie by definition if they are conforming to an historical ideal. Simple dude. @TheCatfishJames hmmm, I always thought 'Don't Worry Be Happy' was one of the best 80's songs. It is upbeat, catchy, with a good message on remaining copacetic. As far as the hippies go, hippie is a relative term. If you mean the fashion hippies with the headbands & bellbottom jeans, well, fashion comes & goes and it will be back. But ideals in regard to peace & love are never historical or dated, my brother, and the ones who were true then are generally true now, they're just underground, dig?

@kankuro2295 : yes I am dissing the popular thing that Jerry Garcia has become. I think that he himself was embarrassed by the way people began behaving around him, like turning him into a demigod, and declaring that the people who went to dead shows were somehow part of a big family. They were just a band trying to make a living. I'm not claiming to be the smartest person in the world, I'm far from it, I'm just saying that Deadheads annoy the hell out of me.

To find a way to live in peace and harmony outside of this society. Everyone works hard everyday in hip communes. Even being drop-outs they are more intellectually inclined than you dumb catfishing ass. Then you have the college hipies like the one above, and my sister who is graduating in psycology this semester, but she also follows furthur.

@PinkFloydrulez Yes, given that they had underfoot air-conditioning ducts installed in the late years. But, as sometimes happened, Jerry managed to be magical enough that a cool breeze did ascend from underfoot to cool and bless the entrie band; despite the ducts not working that night.

This was the BEST Dead show I was ever lucky enough to see. How come this show isn't out on DVD? Many "View from the Vaults" don't measure up to this show.
