Hm, interesting points. My only input would be to perhaps consider that atheism, and especially evolution takes just as much faith as believing in a higher power. Evolution has rules, such as, everything can and must be proven with science. Unfortunately, science cannot prove nor disprove everything. I consider both to be religions as well as Christianity, and therefore exclaiming that God is a dumb idea is as dumb as ranting about how he does exist.

@alienTHxx I have found that seeing ourselves is the hardest thing to do because its more a journey than a sudden discovery, and it never ends. Religion almost killed me. I tried to take my life when I was 21 because I couldn't get a grip. My church only preached submission, punishment and damnation as an answer to my woes. Then I discovered Cavafy's poem "Ithaca" and I read jesus's words differently. It took a Greek poem given to me by an Agnostic to save my life. Shame on the Church.

No. That is not the best case scenario from a religious person. Generally, I find they think, "Well, I know you believe in human morals and things like that, and that's basically the same thing as god." I have seen this over and over again.
What you have to understand is religion isn't just a belief. it's a culture. And when you ask someone to give up their culture, it's an attack - justified if their culture involves attacking you, unjustified otherwise.
For human society to EXIST a toleration must exist. I think everyone in their uncle can agree on some level that stupidity shouldn't be tolerated. Hm, interesting points. My only input would be to perhaps consider that atheism, and especially evolution takes just as much faith as believing in a higher power. Evolution has rules, such as, everything can and must be proven with science. Unfortunately, science cannot prove nor disprove everything. I consider both to be religions as well as Christianity, and therefore exclaiming that God is a dumb idea is as dumb as ranting about how he does exist.

@alienTHxx I have found that seeing ourselves is the hardest thing to do because its more a journey than a sudden discovery, and it never ends. Religion almost killed me. I tried to take my life when I was 21 because I couldn't get a grip. My church only preached submission, punishment and damnation as an answer to my woes. Then I discovered Cavafy's poem "Ithaca" and I read jesus's words differently. It took a Greek poem given to me by an Agnostic to save my life. Shame on the Church.

No. That is not the best case scenario from a religious person. Generally, I find they think, "Well, I know you believe in human morals and things like that, and that's basically the same thing as god." I have seen this over and over again.
What you have to understand is religion isn't just a belief. it's a culture. And when you ask someone to give up their culture, it's an attack - justified if their culture involves attacking you, unjustified otherwise.
