Both parties campaign on emotional issues, like gay marriage, illegal immigration, civil rights, etc.
Then what happens when they are elected? Have Republicans, for example, made the ICE actually effective? No.
They use that wedge issue to get elected next term. And Democrats often do the same.

@taosimplicity any violence commiteed by "anyone" on any political spectrum, is reprehensible..there plenty of examples of use of violence and terrorist typr tactics to be accredited to each.. we need to be careful when we find ourselves making excuses for one over the other. nothing in my posting has condoned extremism on either side particularly at the cost of innocent lives..glad to see you do your homework at least on one side..try the other now:)

There is a quote by John Adams that instructs in no uncertain terms "that we are not a nation founded on the Judeo Christian religion." I CONDEMN in the strongest terms possible any and all violence to resolve ideological differences, and believe that those who do should suffer capital punishment at the hands of a jury, military or civillian. I myself am NOT a liberal as I find a particular flaw in their financial insanity. I am not happy with self ascribed conservatives either for the same reason.

YES we are deteriorating, but not as a result of not being taught fundamentalist religion, but rather because we are not being taught basic decency and respect to one another. Since when was courtesy and respect for authority a foreign value? Those things should be hammered into every childs head from the very beginning. I despise where we are now and can't stand the crude hip hop culture that we have embraced, it makes me want to vomit. I'm done for now, hope I've entertained and not bored.
