Yay, East Coast! The college I plan on going to is only like 3 hours away from home and I have extended family that lives just a few minutes away from the college, Thank you so much for taking the time to do these videos and for being descriptive and using words that accurately convey what you're trying to say. A lot of gurus (not giving names) are so inarticulate you'd go away more confused/ worried than before watching the video. Or ready to shoot yourself from too many "likes" and "um's" ;D
Oh, also, to stay responsible for going to classes, it was good to have a friend from your floor or dorm in the same class that you walked with in the morning. We would knock on each others' doors to wake each other up and gather people from their rooms to walk to the same classes together in the morning.
I did not really get too homesick. I missed my family and friends from home, but I was excited to make friends, have more freedom, and take college classes. I called my parents about twice a week, but I didn't really get sad about not being home - although I would be excited to be going home. I actually got homesick the opposite way. When I had to leave college after freshman year for the summer I cried for days. I REALLY missed my friends from college and my freedom.
You are totally right about not calling your parents every day if you're homesick. I was extremely homesick the first two months or so of school it was terrible. Whenever I talked to my mom it would make me feel better for the time we were talking, but I would always end up crying before we hung up and afterwards I'd feel worse. Homesickness is really hard to get over but it will start to fade eventually! Talking to your parents everyday will make it take longer though.
i am from massachussetts and going to school in florida... AND IT FUCKING SUCKS.
