  • love the maths gag at the end

  • In the words of DNA himself, to come up with this idea is the product of a mind not just twisted but actually sprained

  • Yeah, I like this old look for the guide better than the guide animations in the new movie. and the whole way of representing a galactic war as an early 80s arcade game is just hilarious.

  • This is where a dutch advertisement ("even apeldoorn bellen") is based on.. That's an ad for an insurance company, where you see an spaceship with aliens prepared to attack the earth get's stuck on tape used against flies..

  • I think it might have happened already; we HAVE been invaded by aliens, but they're not visible to us.

  • HAHAHAHA

  • Audio is off.

  • the aliens must be very tiny

  • I think that's the idea...

  • THIS can happen to you if your fleet scale's too small...

  • lol

  • much better than the new one! i wonder how much more they spent on special effects in the old one to make it so much better.. no wait! they didn't spend more! they spend barely anything!

    plot>effects

  • Unbelievably it's all stop-motion animation. No computer graphics in those days, won loads of awards you know...

  • Not exactly stop-motion, (which means models of some kind), but certainly done mostly by hand.

There's a good web page on it somewhere if you go looking. It was done by Rod Lord, and he got the gig pretty much by accident.

  • I think that even if they had more money for FX they wouldn't have used it all, because the simplicity was part of the charm.

    You're right, plot trumps effects.

  • @hunterWerewolf13 animations painted on glass

  • sound is slightly out of synch towards the end, however one of the best animated parts of the mini-series.

  • man i love this scne!

  • totally love it, Love the opening to that sequence too.

  • DOG : 3800

  • I love this gag in all of it's incarnations. It's even the loast guide entry during the credits of the movie.

  • Lol! (no, seriously, I am laughing out loud)

If only Douglas Adams had given up smoking, maybe we would still get this quality of TV

  • Actually, he died of a heart attack. Not sure I ever heard of him smoking.

  • The miniseries is so much better than the movie in so many ways. Like not including that horrible love story that's totally contrived and pointless.

  • I seem to have a lot of problems with my life style.

  • "I seem to be having tremendous difficulties with my lifestyle."

Off the top of my head. What a geek.

  • fantastic

  • I just love when the dog wins! Yahoo! =)

  • Pwned

  • The one in the movie is better.

  • That was wonderful.

  • i have it on dvd its bloody brilliant

  • my brain exploded from my toe after the punchline

  • Lol, the Vl'hurgs destroy two G'gugvunts ships to get even score. :)

  • Settled their diffrences

  • one of the best's films ive ever got to watch,by accdident i must confesse one time i woke up drunk,i think, as dutchkat said, its bloody brilliant! many things to learn in a hard way of interpretation, you can find in there tons of messages of life.

  • I'm throwing down the gauntlet - this is the funniest thing in the whole series. The "due to a terrible miscalculation of scale" ending is nothing short of genius.

  • Bloody brilliant!

  • God I love Douglas Adams...
