We love you Thorstein....

  • You have got it wrong Linzaaaan13. The woman has not died, she has left him, see regnvej4ever above. He is not enough for her, they've talked about this moment now and then. When he awakes she is not there, and he knows directly what has happened. But he doesn't call for her, he lets her go and hopes that she will find her Samarkand, which to me means something better, someting that she has been dreaming of and longing for. In a way maybe, paradise. You could call this song a Swedish blues.

  • @peternilssonskriver Women are never satisfied

  • Seriously, Im crying big time right now as I listen to it.

I''ve allways understood it as lovesong: He/she has been left but the love is so strong, that he/she accepts it, since its what the other really wants. In my opinion an expression of deep love however painfull it might be (tried it myself).

It does however make very much sence, that the other passed away too.

    Man, 34

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs I know when sung by Thorstein himself. The first time I heard him sing it, he sang as if he was one with the song. A deep musical experience for me.

  • People what language is this, I've heard this music before, it was sang by a women, is this music about the city Samarkand?? please respond

  • it is in swedish

  • Both text and music by Thorstein Bergman. This song was written to Lena Andersson's LP "12 nya visor" 1972. It's done also by Lill Lindfors.

"When I woke up, I knew at the same time: It has happened what we've been talking about now and then. I hope you find what you've been missing if you some day find Samarkand"

  • it's a swedish song=) it's not about the city samarkand, it's about 2 people that's in love and they're kind of old i think, and one of them sings to the other that he/she missses him/her, cuz one of them has just passed away, and he/she sings that his/her husband or something will get a good life in heaven (samarkand) samarkand is like a place they've been taking about, like the've been taking about that this will happend sometimes and now it did. i hope you understand a little bit :)

  • Ow wow :)) that was interesting, so the name of my city Samarkand in Swedish means somehow a Heaven , lol, thank you !!!!!

  • yees sort of :) you're welcome :D
