Seriously! Grace Slick IS the vocalist (so says Wikipedia, and it's never wrong). The lady clearly has soul, so I therefore assumed she must be black. I mean it was 1969. Whoa. Who'd 'a thought?
@LiteracyLabyrinth your right i was just thinking exactly that and then i saw your comment, strange though checking out this vid out of nostalgia or what, sesame st. is a thing of the past,my sister got the dvd,s sesame st. old school for her little ones just because the show is a shadow of its former self these days, politically correct, cookie monster eating healthy foods that sort of thing
@fourtriangles2112 : TELL me about it...Althought the Veggie Monster rumor is not 100% true, it's a crying shame that Sesame Workshop has removed so much of what made their flagship show so memorable and funny to all ages. (Their last five years' preachiness about health and nutrition is just the tip of the iceberg; now the new format forces the writers to make every problem and conflict solvable in 15 minutes or less.)
I don't know! They way the singer says "10" the first time around, sounds like a southern drawl on that word. I don't ever recall Grace having that twang in her speach.
Exactly! Like, I feel like I *should* have known it was her, but of course I was a kid and watching these clips in the late 70s/ early 80s, and didn't know who the heck Grace Slick was at the time... it's just weird that I would become such a huge fan of hers later in life, ignorant that I had been learning my numbers from her as a wee tot... awesome!
The same is true for me. I used to always be intrigued by the Jazz Numbers videos as a kid. Later in life, I became a Jefferson Airplane fanatic. Just two years ago, I watched one of these on YouTube and found out it was Grace Slick singing them. It was a real mind blower.
Well, the Old School DVD sets cover the first ten season premieres; that's better than nothing, although I'm glad that fans here are sharing the other episodes and clips.
So creepy and awesome at the same time. This explains SO much about people my age...

All 9 Jazzy Spies songs should be on a future Jefferson Airplane box set, as these have lots of historical value IMO.

As good as it gets - Grace Slick of 'White Rabbit' fame sounds similar in this rendition - I LOVE THIS!

@ 0:32? There's the Grace I know and love. This one's my favourite of them all just for that 3 second vocal.

Do they have the old Sesame Street on DVD? I grew up with this and my 4 year old nephew would find it fun.
