I have watched many classical guitarists, and all of them have mastered Recuerdos de La Alhambra, and I have to say, Michael made quite a few mistakes and the tone wasn't good. I've heard a lot from him, but this performance was not his best at all.
I'm a fan of michael chapdelaine, he is such a great guitarist, but tremolo is just not his best technique - he could've done better but it's not that bad
Yeah, tremolo isnt the best technique. I think hes a fingerstyle guitarist and not a Flamenco guitarist. Juan Martin is a Flamenco guitarist but Michael Chapdelaine should better play fingerstyle.
I agree. Michael is one of the few people who deserve the title virtuoso guitarist. I highly doubt these people with negative comments will ever attain his skill level. Including myself
There are lot of Filipino guitar players who can perform Recuerdos. Can someone please post Hating Gabi by Molina and other kundiman pieces for the Filipno audience
Thought it was a bit choppy to start, surprising after watching some other videos of his. However he plays his versions with great almost over the top dynamics and feeling, which I like and will take over dull flawless technique any day.
Just wondering... Have you ever watched to a video of Kazuhito Yamashita? That guy sure moves on his seat. Even so, he's, by far, the most skilled guitarist today; highly criticized, yes, but still the only one that can play such difficult pieces. Research a little and see how it does not matter how still you are on your seat, what *really* matters is how colorful and touching you make your guitar sound.
guessin its either classical guitar players or wanna be classical gutiar players who are commenting,I used to be a strict classical player but i found it to difficult to sit there and not be moved by the music or tap your feet ect.
I could play this better with one hand....I can't believe this guy won GFA that's embarrassing

Oh jeeze..... Does anyone have video or audio of Alirio Diaz playing this song? Please post it, so this guy will see how it is supposed to be done.

I can make better music bouncing my balls of a xylophone.

I think a professional guitarist who call himself a classical guitarist should have a better tremolo... it's not that hard =)

agentpissant42 4 years ago
yeah.,, his tremolo is not so good.. but he is so special when he play steel srtings.. give him credit for that..
iskrukutum21 3 years ago 2
He is ok for steel strings.
But how to give credit for picking a wrong musical instrument.
If he practises it with a traditional classical guitar, the effect will be better.

i don't think its his fault, the audio really sucks, way too much trebble wich makes it sound all scratchy, michael is awesome

Michael Chapdelaine is a really talented guitarist but I dont think in tremolo, its just weird but so,tremolo is not balanced and scratchy.

Being a classical guitarist does demand lots of dicipline. That's why only the strong survive.
