Plenty of politicians are open about their faith in the Netherlands. Catholicism has always been the nr. 1 religion in the Netherlands, even after the reformation.
Nowadays 55% of the Netherlands is Catholic (in name). Before Catholic Flanders was separated from the Netherlands the percentage was even higher.
But the Netherlands are often known only after their 2 richest provinces North-Holland and South-Holland and these provinces are indeed mainly Protestant.

We could do better here and there, but I think the Dutch are liberal as well as realistic. Why let someone suffer who is terminally ill and doesnt want postpone his painful death? Why not marry two people of the same sex who simply love eachother, and do no harm to others? If you legalize softdrugs you can control it BETTER than when its underground.
