Was there that night , the band was totoally on , Neil wasnt with it or some thing , just didint interact with crowd , walked off stage alot , pretty disapointing , 1rst time seeing clutch
@machinefnhead1 That's how Neil is. When another member of his band is jamming a solo or something, he steps aside to let the other guy take the spotlight. He does this b/c he's a classy frontman.
@machinefnhead1 I've seen Clutch many times over the last 15 years (this show included) and Neil's always been that way. He doesn't talk to the audience too much which I kind of prefer. I like it a lot more when a band just gets up and plays rather than talk to the audience for 5 minutes between every other song. He may not talk much between songs but as soon as they go into a song Neil is on fire. Pure rock fury!
OH!! The drummer fucked up there! There is supposed to be a pause when they go into the chorus the first time! That's why the singer wasn't on point and the guitar player looked at him and smiled!! Ahh well! They fuckin own none the less! Every band fucks up from time to time!
No he didn't, there was nothing wrong with the way they played that intro. Listen to the album version of the song (There's a few on youtube) and you'll see that there's no difference.
I have and he did mess up. I just listened to the cd to make sure there was a pause in the song, and there is. That's why the guitar player looked back at the drummer and laughed.
JP does kick some serious ass. However, if you listen to the cd or watch any other live performance of this song, you'll notice it. He came back in too early. Why else would the vocals, guitar and bass be off at the same time?
Ok, i think i see where you are coming from. It's not off time, i've been drumming for 15 years, what JP did is add an extra little fill, not uncommon for live performances. So it is different from the album, but not a fuck up. its actually close to what he does on the second chourus on the cd.
You are right. It's not off time. He just usually waits for 4 beats before he comes back in on the first verse and i think it threw everyone off. The second verse however, there is no pause. I've been drumming for 15 years as well. Keep poundin them skins bro! :)
if that WAS a mistake (JP) then thats the biggest fuck-up ive ever seen him do, JP is ALWAYS on it! MONSTER GROOVE!

I personally think it's their best, followed closely by The Elephant Riders.
