I visited Edinburgh Zoo on Easter Sunday not only see the rest of the animals but the penguins especially, they are my favourites. I wanted to see the King chick and I was not disappointed either. Is the king chick male or female and have you named him/her? Does the same principle apply with the tags on the kings as it does with the gentoos, males are tagged on the right and females on the left side?
Do all the eggs that the penguins lay then hatch into chicks, or do some of them not make it? If they do thats a fairly large amount of baby penguins!
@Funkdefence Thanks for your question. As in nature, some of the eggs that are laid are not viable and never hatch. Still, we're hoping for a big, healthy group of chicks this year.
@Funkdefence: Although we now have 99 eggs, we expect between 30 and 40 to chicks to actually hatch and then survive to adulthood. Last year from 117 eggs, 49 hatched and 42 survived. The other eggs were either infertile, broke or the embryo died inside. All of these things are totally normal and would happen in the wild too.

On the Edinburgh Zoo website we have a live streaming penguin cam that's pointed at the nesting area, so you can watch them live there!
