See: 99% of ANY form of media. Rock, Pop, Hip hop, Trip hop, Metal, Rap, Jazz, Classical, Downtempo, Country, Techno, Ambient, R&B, DnB, and every other genre out there are all mostly shit.

I only point this out because you make it sound like all metal is good. Nope. It is usually just as soulless as the rap you've described. Bad metal (most metal) usually relies on guitar wankery and lyrics that sound deep but really aren't.

I think you don't know the real metal scene. If you would, you'd know that the statement you postet isn't right. And "deep" lyrics in Metal are usually in Death Metal and some Core genres, metal is much more... I could show you enough bands that prove you wrong. Much Bands that aren't played on radio/tv or so...
