That's why it had to be destroyed. You can't have surplus materiel floating around on eBay, being sold to America's enemies. Same reason they scrapped most of the F-14s. It was the most beautiful fighter ever built, but Iran is the last remaining F-14 operator, and the US gov't doesn't want them to be able to buy spare parts. Thus, a handful go to museums and the rest head to the shredder.

Torpedo was likely made out of titanium. Steel would never crack and shatter unless it was made from cast iron which I know this was not made out of. It would bend and fold if it was steel. I cut titanium in a large sheer once and it gives a little then breaks like cast iron. Extremely tough to cut. The color is also a classic indicator. Pale green which is unpainted from the factory. Very dangerous to be standing next to titanium when cut. Pieces tend to fly like bullets.

In case anyone was wondering why they only showed them shredding the back half(-ish) of the torpedo is because if it was an acoustic guided torpedo (which I think it was) the electronics of said system are classified. They didn't shred the fuel tank because most modern torpedoes use Otto II fuel, which is extremely toxic.

I don't even need to speak as to why they didn't shred the warhead.

it's not jamming, it's just clearing debris from the shear line. When the blades spin away from the center, it allows them to take on less material. it's a means of putting less pressure on the blades.

Yes it is overloading, some would all it jamming. You can hear the overload right before it reverses to clear the over-present load.

I noticed a bite of yellow I suspect it's oil out of the fuel pump hopefully the 46 was certified otto fuel free.There is a lot of grease packed in the water pump and I couldn't see any propellant in the combustion chamber that was the round thing your shredder was having a hard time with.
