  • awesome,it must've been something to see these in real life

  • @swane321 Heck yeah I bet it was! Thanks!

  • This is my second favorite steam locomotive after the Norfolk And Western J-Class! I'm saving up my money in order to buy one of these beauties! It's my new dream train!

  • @Orca369 Awesome!! You'll love it once you get it!

  • I love the Echo Effect with the Whistle.

  • yah when I can cant wait to get legacy though if I can get 1

  • Dude I finally got it and it's AWESOME even though im using my friends MTH system to run it crudely for now.

  • @austrobb Thats's awesome man! I bet you're having fun!!!

  • You sound like esiegel76.

  • @PghTrainFanatic How much did one of those cost?

  • Wow, thats a sharp looking engine right there! I might look into one of these.

  • @MrTrainfanatic Thanks a lot! Its a very nice locomotive!!!

  • your a little late i got it already LOL! Its gonna be great when i get it at Christmas but thx

  • @austrobb Heck yeah!!! You'll love it!

  • @PghTrainFanatic I'll post some vids of it sometime and u can check it out

  • do you know where i could get one for less than $900 thx!

  • @austrobb There is one on ebay for around 670 I think

  • @austrobb ebay would be you best bet

  • its ray-dee-ay-tor XD nice loco tho

  • I wished someone would have told me before buying this locomotive that a batch of them had been water damaged in China so I could be aware. Buyer beware. Don't buy from Grzyboski's Trains in Pennsylvania.

  • @SouthernMissGraduate I wouldn't blame Grzyboski's......Lionel needs to have better quality control, Period!

  • @PghTrainFanatic you got that right

  • I think for the price I mite get one!

  • @littleevan99 Thanks Awesome dude!!! You'll love this engine!

  • i like mostly postwar sets but i realy like what lionel got out for there vision line of train this it a realy nice engine did you see the new vision line #700e i think you would love if you dont already have one im going to wait alittle bit if a complete 1950 nyc #773 hudson set dosnt in my hands by then then im just going buy a vision line 700e

  • @grizzleybearz282004 Thanks a lot man! Yeah I saw the Vision line hudson, but I'm not crazy about the price tag for an engine that doesn't fit my layout well. But thanks anyhow! :) good luck on the hudson you're after! :D

  • @PghTrainFanatic ya the price tag of $1,600 is very high right now if i see one later on for less then $1,000 then maybe

  • Very nice job did you get that in the 2003 train magazine? I know you made the video not to long ago but I saw that train in my 2003 train magazine. I bought my trains in 2001-2002 yet I did not my videos until now.

  • @TheArmadillo17 Thank you very much!!! No, this is a new engine that was released in dec. 2010

  • Hey Nick! Just wondering if this engine is giving you a lot of problems still? One of my buddies on Youtube here is selling his and I just want to make sure before I seriously consider that I won't have major problems all the time. Anyways thanks for the info buddy!

  • @Bassfanatic94 hey Mike, I'm due to get the engine back from Lionel today. Hopefully she'll run good now. The chuffing sensor broke 2 time in this engine,,,,other than that I love this loco! Can't wait to run it later! Best sounding engine I own!

  • at its highest point, what is the overall height of this locomotive?

  • @mdgsdg Its 3 3/4" tall at the highest point. the antenna on the tender is just a tad taller than the engine itself.

  • Buy the time it's all said and done if we got to keep sending these things in for repair we could of just bought A Vision steam engine. I guess that's why I like MTH because if I got a problem with something they fix it and I can drop it right to them because they are in my state about a half hour away but I'm in that area a good bit. I only wish they would catch up to Lionel in the features department.

  • Yes I've heard that this has happened to a good many of people with this loco and the sad thing is that Lionel's fix for the problem is just to replace it with a new defective part there is 2 guys in my club that are on there 3rd repair of the same part and I got a call last night from one of them that it's went bad again so it's getting ready to go in for the fourth time what a load of crap where is the damn lemon law for Lionel trains.

  • Hey bro I got the same problem with mine with that chuffing sensor going bad witch blows what did it cost you to have that fixed as far as shipping ect. And how long did it take to get the loco back

  • @viper1976xxx Well, its funny you send this comment. My chuffing sensor just broke again on it 2 days ago! I'm pretty ticked about it because now I have to pay another 25$ to ship it in to Lionel again. The good news is they pay the return shipping. It takes around 2 weeks from the day you send it until its returned, but sometimes a little longer. They have a quick turn around time.

  • Excellent presentation. Being an owner of one of these beauties, you present everything very nicely. Just beautiful. Keep 'em coming!

  • @mdgsdg Thanks a lot! :D I think my reviews are terrible! LOL Glad to hear you got a T! Also! They are very nice and great sounding engines! Thanks again!

  • very nice

  • @guzzaccio Thank You! :)

  • I just watched you review over and realized mine don't have the dang bell ain't that a load of crap I guess that's what happens when China makes everything now. You would think what we pay for these things they would be USA made I still love it but the bell bugs me lol

  • @viper1976xxx Man That's some Bull! You should call Lionel and complain. I would. I had to send mine in 2 weeks after I got it because the Chuffing sensor was broken, they called it a cherry switch I think.

  • Well I just got this baby today and let me tell you guys if you think it's awesome in the video then wait till you see it in person WOW got to be my favorite loco to date and trust me I got some sweet stuff but this things sound is out of this world I even had a minor problem with the smoker squeaking at first but I managed to get it to stop don't know how but all is good now. For anyone out there thinking of getting it if you can find it GET IT

  • @viper1976xxx Man thats awesome you got one! :D Isn't it the best sounding engine you've head?

  • Yeah it's not a bad layout but I think all of us would like to have bigger lol yes a huge basement is what I want too I want the basement to be just as big as the house like 3 or 4 12x12 rooms would be perfect lol I'd really like the whole house to be a layout but the wife won't let me do that lmao

  • @viper1976xxx LMAO! I know what you mean! I'd love to do that too! But my ACe would be broke! LMAO

  • Yeah the T1 will put me at 30 locos I just wish I had the layout to match lol I got a modest 6x16 island layout but I'm looking to buy a new house so I can do a nice big layout where I can put some holes in the wall and do some sweet scenes like you have on your layout it looks great man keep it up and keep the videos coming I love them

  • @viper1976xxx Woah 30 is Awesome!!!! Sounds like a nice sized layout to me! Love to see some time! :) I went a bit nuts in my train room! LOL It was initially supposed to only be half of the room, then it went to 66%, now its 100% LMAO! If I move in the future, the first place I'll be looking is in the home's basement! HAHAHA

  • Also you sold me on the Western Maryland challenger I bought it last week after watching your video how crazy is that lol I tell ya that Challenger was hard as Hell to find

  • @viper1976xxx HAHA thats awesome! Man sounds like you have a sweet lineup then! The WM challenger is a really nice engine too! Yeah I'm not one to talk about an engine nonstop for 9 mins like you said, I know most people want to see and hear it run, not me rambling on forever. Now I just need to stop buying trains and buy a better camera one day! LOL

  • Yep you should be you gave one of the best reviews I've seen on here straight and to the point and a very good show of the features most like to ramble on for 9mins and 30 seconds then give us a half a minute of the features I hate that I want to see what the loco can do and you sure covered that thank you great job.

  • Yes that's what made me want it was the sound system that whistle sounds beautiful I wouldn't care if it didn't have the vision whistle the sound alone makes this loco a must have it's awesome great video you sold me on this loco for sure Thanks

  • @viper1976xxx Yep same thing sold me too! I saw a video of it and a couple weeks later I had one! LMAO :D Glad I sold you! Maybe I should be a salesman! lol

  • Wow who could not like this loco I just ordered it I got the UP BigBoy Lionmaster with the Vision whistle so this will go great with it damn I love the new Locos Lionel is putting out

  • @viper1976xxx Man that's Awesome!!!! You are going to love this one too! The whistle is just so great sounding! I love this steamer, and its got to be one of the funnest engines I own to run! All around Lionel is the best by far! The other companies can't compete! have fun with it and congrats!

  • 3 dislikes?!? this is an outrage!!

  • @sd90dash8048 Yeah I know its ridiculous! I guess the haters are jealous of this one! LMAO

  • @PghTrainFanatic lol :)

  • Hi Nick.......I missed the boat on this one I should have bought this engine.......Beautiful engine.............Ron

  • @escape150 Thanks so much Ron! The T1 really is a sweet engine! Its a really fun train to run and blow the whistle, which never gets old! I've seen this engine for sale on a couple websites still.....It was a hot seller when it came out! Thanks Again Ron, talk to you soon my good friend!

  • how do you get the start up announcement? I have this engine and am running it with a legacy cab 2 remote... whenever i turn it on it just immediately goes to the idle sounds... thanks

  • @mdgsdg You have to be operating it in command mode, and press and hold down the power on button for a couple of seconds and the startup sequence begins. I use legacy, so I'm not sure how tmcc works, but it should be the same if that's possibly what you are using.

  • @PghTrainFanatic i think u can put the remote into tmcc mode... thanks for the help! :)

  • wow! =D

  • @LionelThomas200 Its pretty dang cool in person too! lol

  • Hi nick, love the engine where did you get it?

  • @nycsystem9999 Thanks!!! It was a gift.

  • Dude, from 8:10 on, that's some SERIOUS stack talk. Love the whistle..think my favorite is when it's blown halfway. Halfway seems to be the sweet spot on Lionel's Legacy engines. I've got a Dash 9 Demonstrator that has the Multi Horn but can't figure out what it is.

  • @mattdean1003 Man that's sweet! and thanks for the great comments! B)

  • nick thats a nice duplex .layouts looking great also.

  • @slidream Thanks so much my friend!

  • Oh ya I remember now lol! stupid me haha

  • @altoonaPArailfan its cool! lol

  • Cool :-)

  • MTH WHO?!?!?!?!!! :) Lionel is really kicking MTH'd but when it comes to trains!

  • @stationmaster12 LMAO! Yeah that's the truth too! MTH boy's won't admit it either!

  • VEY VERY NICE i LOVE it , good luck with it

  • I bet that you can't resist visiting my channel ;-p

  • Sorry Nick !! Had to watch again... Just love that smoke and whistle.. again thanks for sharing and keep up the great work...

  • @lionellance Thanks Lance! I got you hooked! LOL

  • Wow! that is one of the coolest looking engines you have! Thats so realistic looking and fits nicing with your layout. That gold whistle looks "G" lol :) That whistle is realy cool also. Now I am glad you are selling the Western Maryland, well all good things must come to an end.... hopefully not this engine! Great video can't wait for more

  • @CmoneyF22 LMAO! Yeah boy this engine's has the"G" and some bling bling! I hop to make a new video in a couple days about the layout and an update on everything! Its going to be a BIG update!

  • Dude that engine is awsome. My one friend has been trying to get me back on lionel and thats the engine that i think could do it.

  • @trainman551 You need to listen to your friend then! LOL Lionel is a million times better than MTH right now. But it comes at a hefty price.

  • can you even vary the tone of the whistle?????????????

cause it sure seems like you can,and that would be the first time i've ever seen that....

  • @stefant4 Heck yeah you can vary the tone! Thats what one of the biggest features are about Lionel's new Legacy system. And the vision Line engines take it even farther with the whistle steam effects and other have the swinging bell, like the CC2s. Check out some of my old videos and you'll see what I mean! :) Thanks!

  • Congratulations Nick!!!! That is a beautiful engine!!!!

  • @andon19 Thanks So very much! Nice compliment!

  • WOW Nick! great locomotive! Lionel is kick ass cuz this has to have the best whistle on a model i have ever heard! just awesome dude!

  • @Southerntreatment Thanks Joey G! Sorry ofr my delayed response....busy at work! lol Man A guy on youtube got one of these when they first came out and as soon as I heard the whistle I was hooked! Had to have one! LOL Thanks again bro!

  • very beautiful engine Nick! great video! the chuffs and the whistle are absolutely amazing! keep up the great work and I hope operation blackout is going great!

  • @ModalTrains4884 Thanks for the very nice comments man! I'm glad you liked the T1! Well Operation blackout is at a stand still right now, because I'm doing work on the main room for now. I should be doing phase II for black out in about a month or so, possibly a little more. I decided to get the main table done first. Then I'll start scenery in the backroom.

  • @PghTrainFanatic

Hey man that's cool. You can't rush greatness ya know? lol. Take as much time as you need. However, I will be awaiting diligently for the next Operation Blackout video! lol

  • AWESOME!!!! it looks scale!!! and the sounds are perfect! love that deep "chuff"!!

  • @Chessie9009 Thanks so much!!!! I did have the laboring turned up high so I get a deeper chuff, which I really like too! :)

  • Holy cow! that is a NICE engine Nick!

  • @railfanfromiantha LOL thanks Ethan! I agree! Sorry for he delay...been busy at work!

  • Hi Nick i love the t1 one question where do you get all of this stuff? And what is the minimum curve for it? you should check out my videos.

  • @nycsystem9999 Thanks so much! Well Its come from various sources. The min. curve for the T1 is O31. This is a lionmaster engine which means they can negotiate tight curves.

  • That's a sick engine, Nick! Did you get the 1204 sold?

  • @atsf3415dbr Thanks Doug! The next update should be a good one. I hope to make that video very soon!

  • awesome review brother!

  • @BALD8BIL Thanks Bill! I just need to upgrade my computer software so I can upload edited videos in HD. right now when I upload the come out in 480p which isn't so great even though the camera records Hd.

  • Great Job My Friend!

  • @MthRailFanatic Thanks so much!

  • Wow amazing engine Nick! I wish I would of gotten that engine. That thing is soooo sweet! I love the whistle! Hopefully the 460 will have the same one. Thanks for sharing! Keep up the great work!

  • @Bassfanatic94 Hey Thanks Mike! Sorry been real busy at work past few days. Yeah Man This is a really fun loco to own! The 460 will be exactly like this trust me! but even better about the 460 is that its scale sized. The T1 is a lionmaster, so its semi scale. I'll have a new video very soon, some big changes to the layout and new stuff! :)

  • Ok, this is MUCH better than the WM engine Nick! Great PRR buy! the Duplex sounds and as always, looks amazing! it fits perfectly to your layout!

  • @altoonaPArailfan Sorry for the delayed response Connor. I've had this engine now for a little while, but never did a full review of it. So it didn't replace the WM challenger. That's still to be seen in my next video.! :D

  • Great review Nick, I always liked this engine for your layout. The steam whistle is one of the best I have ever heard. I turned up the volume on the speakers and it blew me away! I also love the vision line steam whistle effect.

  • @GEOMIMI89 Sorry for the delay George, I've been swamped at work. Thanks man for the great comments. I agree really this had to be one of the best whistles on a Lionel engine yet. Glad you liked it as much as I do!

  • Man Nick! this engine is sweet! there are so many great details, especially all the lights! Im so happy you got this engine to add to your collection!

  • @PRRK4Lover Sorry for the delay, I've been soo busy past couple days! lol Thanks a million Jared!!!! I know you like the Pennsy so the T1 is a big thrill to watch! Thanks again bro, take care and hope your layout is coming along great!

  • Another marvelous addition to your fleet Nick, then again I wouldn't expect anything less from you! :) I can feel it, I know one day you you'll be reviewing an MTH engine as well, as I Lionel. Be well my friend, looking for many more great videos to come.

  • @skeley1 Sorry for the delay, I've been soo busy past couple days! lol Yeah you know I'm busting out something big in the next update! LMAO! MTH....Hell yeah I will! lol Thanks Mike!!!!!!

  • Wow nick, that is some engine. And it looms simply beautiful with Conway yards in the background.

  • great REVIEW!!! THIS IS FRICKEN AWESOME!!!! i am hooked for this engine! The detail is superb!

  • @GoldenCreekValleyRR Sorry for the delay, I've been soo busy past couple days! lol Thanks for the awesome comments Nick! Hope your layout is coming along nicely! :)

  • Dang bro, that loco is the shiz! I had no clue this T1 was this nice! WOW :-o what a great review!! Keep them coming bro! I can't can't wait till you do a layout update! Its going to be off the chain!!! Talk to you soon bro!

  • @aocruiser Man Ao your the man!!!! Yep The T1 is badACe for real! LMAO Thanks for the great comments bro! Hopefully I'll have the update available soon! :)

  • AWESOME! that whistle is like AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I love it! Great reveiw!

  • @RandN425 HAHAHA Yeah I know the whistle is so addicting too! LOL

  • Never cared much for the look of those locomotives.... but they're growing on me :) That Lionel model is beautiful, especially that whistle sound.

  • @SantaFe158 You know its a unique design. I think of it as a shark on the layout! Ready to hunt down its prey for dinner! LOL Then the whistle just adds to the excitement! :) Thank for the comments!

  • @PghTrainFanatic Yes, seems like it would have been of more use to the railroad to properly train the crews to run them. Too bad an example wasn't preserved in a museum, that's a neat design to look at

  • Great Review on that Beautiful Engine Nick I can't wait too see more of this one!

  • @LIONELTRAINS4LIFE Thanks Gary! Don't worry you'll be seeing the 5511 for a long time! this beauty is staying right here!

  • great video and a very good review

  • @ModelloursWorkshop Thank you very much! I appreciate the compliments!

  • Sweet engine Nick. That whistle is killer!

  • @coopertroopa44 Thank you very much! I agree, the whistle is so sick sounding, then add the smoke feature and its an automatic winner in my book! :) Thanks for commenting!

  • Awesome engine Nick!!! Love those steam effects. The slow smooth operation is really impressive. Thanks for sharing.

  • @byates59 Thanks so much man! Yeah I like to run them slow and just watch and listen! :)

  • I love the steaming whistle. That is my favorite feature on Lionel locos. And I do love this duplex! Great review!

  • @JDStucks Thanks so much Jason! I agree the steam whistle really bumps Lionel engines up a notch! Its almost weird to me if one doesn't have it now! Lol

  • What a great looking engine...with such a unique design! I like how the whistle smoke is far away from the main stack so you can see it much clearer. Good luck with it.

  • @Broncort1 Yeah I agree Bob, very unique design these steamers had, and the whistle effect is so cool! If you ever get another steamer try to buy a Lionel one with that feature....you'll love it! Much Fun!

  • OMG !!! What can I say !! Great job Nick on the review and the video... Makes me want one even more now... love all that smoke and whistle... thanks for sharing...

  • @lionellance OMG Its Lance the man! Hey thanks buddy! :) Maybe if you come down I'll let you play with the T1! See that doesn't sound so bad! LMAO!

  • Very nice review, great looking and sounding engine.

I have the 3rd rail brass 5511, wish it had that Lionel whistle

  • @rancocaskid Thanks very much! Yeah the whistle is what drew me to this engine immediately! I saw a guy post a video and I knew I wanted it too! LOL

  • nice engine frebox glow is sweet may make an update soon got some cars and maybe some ideas about my layout

  • @SIMPLEPLANROCKS22 Thanks pal! I'd love to see your layout again soon! :)

  • @PghTrainFanatic ok ill may update today i got free time and not lots of school work to do later

  • Great review Nick! It actually looks better than my tmcc version of the lionmaster. The sounds are incredible.

  • @TheLegendsoflionel Thanks Connor! Lionel is always making improvements, even over the first legacy lionmaster engines this one has much nicer features and detail.
