IMO I think a lot more ppl should play this game it would let u get more friends and have a great time with ppl who share the same interests as u. And yes dnd online is not as flexible as the nonlinear tabletop version. :) suck it up. Note: my town is too small for me to find ppl who want to group up and play

the online game is so much similar, you have a DM aswell that is cool he tells you stuff such as "you hear the grinding of metal as you turn the valve" and the dice are similar too! a dice system where a dice is rolled to see how much damage you hit is used :D and theres the TREASUREEE ^^ which is cool you can get weapons and armor n little trinkets :P

The online game is based on Version 3.5 Which in some cases is better. However, if you want to be modern and have to have the new stuff 4th edition is what your after, charging around $35 per book, unless you find good deals on Amazon or eBay. (Amazon has Players Handbook for $19 I believe) the true diffrence is they got rid of spells. That was kinda a bummer, but its acually more exciting to level now, in some cases. Either way still a very good Table Top RPG.

D&D is a game that was designed around 1985 which was baced on your imagination, placing yourself i a Might and Magic Realm and putting you in the position of 1 charecter (Fighter - Wizard - Rogue etc.)

But the most recent editions use grids and miniatures, you could play the game pretty much like a board game, using immagination and storytelling for other aspects of the game.
