  • You assumed it finished at the height it started with, which it didn't....:P

  • 8:01 its a chili pepper!

  • i know that you were making assumptions and simplifying things a bit, but the velocity that you found for the golf ball doesn't really tell you how hard you need to swing does it? I mean, different clubs and balls have very different coefficients of restitution, so that number wouldn't really mean anything in terms of swing speed

  • Ah, and then how do you create that velocity? What is your angular velocity and the club length? What kind of ball are you using and how old is it? Many variables. However the application of the concept is valid and useful for students. Thanks for your input though. It reminds people that there are many variables... ask Tiger Woods.

  • Anyone see the fact that the ball never went in the hole? And dont you think that if there were equations that would make a shot like that easier that all of the multi million dollar pros would have mastered it? Use common sense...this is yet another hoax

  • Seriously??? You have a video posted of a guy putting across office furniture into a cup (into which he put water so that it wouldn't bounce out) and you think an on-demand chip-in is a hoax? Then why would I show it bouncing out again? Just because you don't understand the math doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

And the pros will tell you, it is a big jump from knowing what to do, and getting all your muscles and nerves to fire in the right sequence every time.

  • that may be true for chip/pitch shots.. but a full golf shot has spin and that creates a difference in time for acceleration/inclination and the deceleration/ ball falling toward the ground.. a spinning will never create that sort of parabola effect, but a slow incline to a quick gravity pulll towards the ground

  • Ah, but the physics for that is WAY too complex for this. As a matter of fact, real experiments are the only way to determine actual results. Dimple number and shape both affect the results. Thanks for your input.

  • i watched my dads friend get a hole-in-one like that. it just landed in and stayed in. i've done that too but mine didn't stay in.

  • it is much easier in Arabic :D

  • So that what I was doing wrong. I was using Chinese (what?).

  • The math or the golfing? Most of the math came from the mid east. Golf however came from Scotland.

  • of course I mean the math

  • WOW! 14 tries to get it in. I'd still be there with my golf skills!

    Once again, great teacher!

  • wow thats crazy
