Great job on your explaination. Our attic air handler had a condensate drain line (PVC) that was glued together with an inline trap. When it clogged the overflow pan filled just as it should. However the technician had set the shut off float much too high and water over flowed out of the pan into the ceiling, walls etc. Totally preventable. Why would they install a trap in the first place?
