Saw the live broadcast and it was so emotional how Natalie sung it! Yes, she is great! No words to express the emotion! I am not the overly sensitive type, but I was in tears.
Natalie explained that it was difficult to play the glass armonica and the Met was unable to get one this time around. Natalie wanted it and since she could not get it, she decided do without the flute accompaniment. It is so thrilling without it. I saw the premier of this run and when there was no accompaniment, I thought she was indeed gone crazy, the house stood absolutely still and the conductor was there waiting. It was so intense. She is a great great artist.
Someone used their camera at the movie simulcast!

I was at this performance at the Met... absolutely incredible, if the standing ovation at the end of the opera was anything to go by!

Why was there no flute or glass harmonica accompaniment in this Mad Scene?
